They are painted white and have a chippy patina. 2 soild ~4 sided pieces. Photos 1- 7 show the full piece columns. 8-12 show the 1/2 columns. The second photo shows how I have used a pair in my home. I added hang hood and heavy wire to the back of the columns. I then added a heavy phto hook to my wall, then I hung the columns to the wall. I have 2(1/2) SOLD, the 1/2 are sold. All the bases and tops are included. The carving is wood. Some of the carving is missing. Maybe you know a plaster artist that can replicate the missing pieces. Antique Mahogany Newel Post and 12' Railing - SOLID WOOD - Architectural Salvage
Available here is an antique newel post and railing. These are made of solid mahogany. No veneer here. You can't get anything like this anymore! The newel post stands almost 5' high. It is approximately 57" from floor to top of finial. It is in three pieces, a square base with a rounded stand, the rounded post and the top finial. The largest part of the square base is approximately 17.75"x17.75" There are threaded rods on the inside that connect the base and post together, the finial sits on top. There are specks of white paint around the newel post. I will let the buyer decide how to remove it. This newel post is meant to be at the bottom of a staircase. The railing is 12' long and approximately 5.5" wide. It is also made of solid mahogany. The bottom of the railing mounts flush onto the newel post. Antique Wood Carved Column table/stand plant Shabby , Architectural salvage
Hi for sale I have a rare Antique solid wood carved Column. I believe the wood is either oak or mahogany. It is painted white and has a chippy patina. This piece could be used as an accent piece. Table, or plant stand. Only a few others online for sale. This piece measures: 49 1/8" tall x top diameter: 11 1/4" x bottom diameter: 11 1/8" square. The piece was handmade. This column is heavy and large. I put it on the bathroom scale and it had a weight of around 50 to 60 pounds. The column has a knotch at one of the top middle sections( see photo# 6) I believe this was put there so it would fit at a staircase. Antique Vintage Solid Wood Columns Exterior Weathered Pair 90"
Local p ickup is pref erred. I can also deliver with in 500 miles of 08505(NJ) for $1/mile. Please inquire about a delivery estimate before purchase. Here is a pair of big old solid wood columns(not hollow) They are w eathered but in decent conditi on overall. The bases show some rot. As these were stored outdoors for some time. I am leaving the bases attached for the listing. Since some folks may be i nclined to reb uild them; it app ears that these are all one piece. So the base is the same piece of wood as the co lumn. In order to remove them they wou ld need to be cut off. These columns are big and heavy. Probably about 200 pounds each. There are c racks and checks on them. But no major damage. Some of the tips of t he radius details have broke off. It looks like these were small pieces that were added to complete the curve(see pics) ... morethat have since fallen off. There is a little bit of paint on them but not much. I'm not sure what type of wood these are made of. These would make a great starting poi nt for a substantial pergola or archway. Or with a bit of repair these could be used on a porch. Large Antique 19th c. Carved Turned Wood Column Base Capital Bust Plateau Stand
A fine and rare column base dating from the 19th century with wonderful patina. Lots of detail in the turnings. Roundel mounted on an octagonal base. Measures 15 1/4" across the base. The round top is 11 5/8" in diameter and has an inside lip 10" in diameter. Good overall condition and nice period blocking construction underneath. Old Gold This is a beautiful lot of very old carved wood posts with rich gilding. These are just gorgeous- could be French or Italian. Possibly Chinese- with dogwood-type blossoms and crosshatching. I don't see any sign of gesso; these appear to be all hand-carved. This set was clearly once part of something larger. Perhaps a chest or cabinet. All five posts have a backside where joints were made. Four are the same size at 21 3/8" long, the fifth is 15 5/8" long. All are about 1 1/2" in diameter. The quality of the carving is wonderful, and they are in good(though not perfect) condition, with a few nicks and losses here and there. Antique Architectural Salvage Wood Stairway Post
This Antique Architectural Salvage Wood Stairway Post is in Good Salvaged Condition. The finish is in nice shape with an aged patina. There is some minor wear. A few cracks and quite a few nail holes on the side that was attached to the stairway, see my last photo. However the post still feels like one solid chunk of wood, nothing is loose. The top has a different patina and it looks like something was removed from the center but it still looks great. This old post would make a great plant stand or base for a sculpture. It does have an awesome oak veneer sheet over the actual fluted wood but it does have some chipped off pieces as shown in the pictures. I am not sure what type of wood is underneath or on the feet. Beautiful pair of wooden columns which are 81" tall. The column itself is 7" across and the top has a leaf design with a flat top/shelf 12" across. The bottom base is round and also 12" across. Gorgeous Large Primitive Antique Wood Architectural Pediment Piece Post 13 lbs I had an opportunity to go down state Illinois recently for the homecoming of my Alma Mater and shopped the wonderful sales. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! Here's another show stopper today- and I don't think that my photos do it justice. It weighs actually. 13 1/2 lbs of solid wood- it's an architectural pediment of some sort- not sure where it lived in the building, but it will be yours to decide now. This is a beautiful primitive piece, with wornwornworn finish that is down to the wood in many spots, and crackled and alligatored in others. It measures 34 5/8" tall, 7" wide and 4 1/2" deep measuring ... morefrom the back to the highest point in the front. The wood of the background is dark to the point of almost black, and the raised areas either were left light on purpose, or have lost most of their finish, it's hard to tell which. If you look at photos 10, 11& 20, I'm showing a 1/4" chip, and a sliver next to it gone to the top of the wood at one end(the smaller raised end) it's right on the edge of the raised area. It looks like the top of the raised area may have been veneer, and that's what has chipped( or it just could be the wood chipped there, because, believe me, it's solid wood underneath. I'm not sure aoubt that, though, and this is the only spot that makes me question- there's no other chips that look like it may be veneer- so supersize and see what you think. That being said, there ARE other small chips to the piece, along with scrathes, scrapes, nicks, dings and cracks. It's rustic, but gorgeous and totally solid and sturdy. I'm not sure if I have it upside down or right side up in my photos( but either short end is unfinished, with holes from whenever it was in place, and the same goes for the back. This is a stateme

There is one large turned wood cannon ball-finial-top staircase newel post column/pillar baluster with original red-burnished paint, large wood column/baluster newel post for staircase with threaded interior at end(see close-up pic provided) measures approx. 25" long with the round ball top measuring approx. 3.75" in diameter, bottom measures approx. 3.5" across and opening where threaded measures approx. 1.5" in diameter(see close-up pics provided) All have wear, age, and patina/weathered surfaces, these are not vintage or reproduction pieces and have weathered over time and have seen use-please view all pics. Wood was fitted together, brass pieces were nailed. ALL ORIGINAL Someone told us they believe it is probably from the Civil War Era but we don't know. Either way this is truly an amazing piece.
