Antique Cast Iron Corner Porch Post Nice cast iron corner porch post dating to the early 1950's. Measures 7'9" 89" tall and each side is just over 8" wide. Very little rust on decorative mid-section. Top. Where it connects to the porch ceiling structure, has some surface rust. Bottom end caps are somewhat damaged by rust, and it no longer sits level. Any machine shop could easily make new end caps and weld them on, add a little black paint and the repair would be unnoticable. Nice mid-century architectural piece with lots of use left. This auction is for one(1) antique vintage victorian wooden architectural porch spindle post/column. It was removed from our 1896 Victorian home as part of a remodeling project. I have no idea in what year this particular post was put on the porch. Meaning no way for me to know whether it was an original or a replacement somewhere down the line. I only know the year the house was built, and that the post was here when we bought it. It is about 94.5 inches tall, and the squared-off portions above and below the spindle section are 3.25" x 3.25" Measuring from the top to the point where the spindle begins is about 14.5" in length(height) and the spindle part is 39.5" long before the squared-off part starts again. Set of four circa 1840-50 greek revival style porch column posts. Doric capital(one capital needs to be reattached! Salvaged out of a barn in central MA. Posts are in very good condition- the capitals are all in tact. The posts measure 90.5" from top to bottom. They taper on the main shaft from 9.25" diameter to 11.5" diameter top to bottom. The top square capital is 14.25" The base diameter measures 11.5" They have old dry crusty white paint. SELLING as SET- All 4 for ONE PRICE! PAIR of circa 1870 WOODEN octagonal tapered PORCH post COLUMNS 86 & 90" x 7-9"
Pair of circa 1870 octagonal& tapered porch column posts. Salvaged out of a barn in central MA. The posts are structural- they are worn in areas. I tried to capture as much detail with the 12 photographs here. There is one additional base or cap- the size of this makes it seem as if it could be used on either end. The posts are 86& 90" tall respectively. They taper on the main shaft from 7" diameter to 9" diameter top to bottom. The top square capital is 9.75" They have old dry crusty white paint. Please scroll down under this description for additional views. Salvaged Victorian turned pine banister column from the front porch. 22" long, lathe-turned from a solid 2 1/2" square of wood. Square block ends with a tapered round rise. We have multiples of this style and will adjust shipping on multiples. All are in this general condition, no rot, many coats of worn exterior paint, minor chips but nothing big or structural. Great decorative piece on its own or to be adapted to a railing, stair. they weigh about 2 lbs each.
