There is a small notch for a hallway. The side strip attached to the back is also mahogany. It joined a hallway railing. It measures 46.5 inches. By.575 inches square at the base, and 7.5 inches deep with the sidestrip. Overall. It is in decent condition. There are misc. sctatches and dings adding to the antique charm of the piece. Up for your consideration is a fancy 19th century Rare Hitching Post. This post has the Victorian Ladies Heads going around. All molded in Cast Iron detail. There is one side bare and we are not sure if it had a head there or was just the side facing into the property. The paint is badly worn, but we have left it all original for the new owner to deside about the restoration.There are some losses to the sides, but they are not noticeable. Highly Carved Antique Victorian Oak Newel Post Cap in Original Condition
Here's a very ornately carved cap to an oak newel post which must have come from some impressive Victorian building. This would look stunning either built into a stairway of a Victorian home or as an interesting accent piece. There are a few chips. Bumps and nail holes and it is also quite dirty. But I'll leave any cleaning to the new owner. Although beautiful as is. The original quartersawn oak finish would certainly benefit from a little oil and wax to bring out the grain. Measuring 14 1/8 high this was originally a stair post in a now torn down Victorian house in Northern California. My consignor bought 18 and put nails in the top of most and used them for a big party in her yard as large candle holders. Some were painted. Some have lots of chips and all are the same shape. To restore a home or as the candle holders she made them, this listing is for 1-18 based on the numbers above that show how many are left. Vintage Antique Copper Clad Spindles for Restoration Project Victorian Unique!!!
Four Vintage Copper-Clad Spindles Really unique and the possibilities for a project with these are endless! These were salvaged from an old building in Waterloo. Iowa I was told they came from an old elevator. Where or how they were used. I have no idea. Sure wish I knew. Would have loved to have seen it. They do show signs of age. Wear and use, there are dents in some and I've taken pictures of those. One spindle has part of the ball part missing. One spindle is missing the square part on one end. But I do have that and it will be included. They all do have one good side! One has been partially cleaned up, the others are in"as found" condition. They measure 22.5 inches in length and are approximately 1.5 inches in width at the widest part. These would make a nice addition to a restoration project.

Antique Solid Oak Architectural Carved Victorian Newel ? Post Column Pillar
Solid oak post or column measuring about 23 1/4" tall. The diameter of the plain end measures about 5" and the other end where the carving is measures about 7" in diameter. Some areas of the column are straight cut oak while on 2 sides there is tiger oak grain showing. This piece is unfinished. The end with the carving is flat on the bottom while the other end is concave.There is a small piece of the turned ring near the carved portion that is missing. Also there is a tight age crack extending about 2" long from the end of the plain side and some dark spots on the turned ring on the bottom. Thank you for viewing. This auction is for one(1) antique vintage victorian wooden architectural porch spindle post/column. It was removed from our 1896 Victorian home as part of a remodeling project. I have no idea in what year this particular post was put on the porch. Meaning no way for me to know whether it was an original or a replacement somewhere down the line. I only know the year the house was built, and that the post was here when we bought it. It is about 94.5 inches tall, and the squared-off portions above and below the spindle section are 3.25" x 3.25" Measuring from the top to the point where the spindle begins is about 14.5" in length(height) and the spindle part is 39.5" long before the squared-off part starts again. I've also included pictures of the house when it was still installed before we removed it. It has a cracked and chipped patina and is a sand over white. Although the cannonball top has a crack it is still very solid. One side has nail holes from its original installation.see photos. Antique Victorian Porch Gingerbread Wood Columns Corbels Brackets Posts 3390-14
Complete Victorian porch set. This set includes 7 columns 114"tall with a 6" X 6" base. One of the bases looks to have been repaired sometime in the past it has been pieced together. A few of the bases are a little soft on the ends. There are 9 main corbels one for each column and 2 for the center columns. There are 28 More corbels that go with this set their are 2 for each column the larger of them go up against the column and the smaller are for the ends of these. The have there original chippy white paint. Some of the small detail pieces are missing. Overall this set id in good Salvaged condition. All defects are shown in the pictures below please look them over and ask questions when needed. This auction is for one pair of drop-dead gorgeous Victorian White Oak Fluted and Tapered Columns. Typically these would have been found on the upper deck of a fireplace mantle. Separated by a beveled glass mirror(see last photo- this mantle is for reference only and is NOT included in the auction) These columns measure 22-1/4" high overall with 5" diameter at the base. Detailed dimensions as follows(please feel free to ask if I'm not clear about a measurement) base 5" x 5" x 5/8" one only) plinth 1-1/8"H overall(1-1/16" 7/16" plinth lower 5.093"D(16" circumference) plinth upper 4.456"D(10" circumference) cap lower 3.661"D(11-1/2" circumference) cap upper 3.263"D(10-1/4" circumference) cap ring 5/16" column 22-1/4"H overall. flutes 20"H. flutes ... more3.183"D(10" circumference) at top. flutes 3.819"D(12" circumference) at base. flutes 3/16"W x 5/16" between. The columns come in their original finish and patina. Not molested(re-touched or re-finished) in any way. I believe it is shellac(becomes slightly tacky when tested with denatured alcohol) The finish is finely crazed(crackled) in the flutes. There is the occasional small bruise. Most often on the base plinth. There is also one very thin shrinkage/glue crack on each column, running parallel with the flutes. I wouldn't have known they were there, except the finish has slightly darkened and dulled along these cracks. One plinth base is missing, but this could be easily duplicated. Since I've not removed the caps or plinths. I'm not sure whether these columns are solid or hollow. The shrinkage cracks might suggest hollow, whereas the weight(about 6lbs each) suggests solid. I am very pleased to offer this very nice Victorian 1800s corner/garden gate end post that was recently found recently in an estate in Western PA. The piece measures aprox 45 1/2" tall and is 4 1/2" square with original topper and end plate that you could attach to a sidewalk or platform of your choosing. It has some nice filigree in its body and this is ALL in tact with just minor wear from age with NO breaks.Repairs, or cracks. Up for sale is TWO(2) authentic salvaged baluster from an 1890's Victorian home in Upstate NY. It is originally from the front railing of the porch. How cool is that? We have made them into very SHABBY candle holders. Candle not included) Measures approx. 7" high x 2" wide. It is painted in a Crackling Antique White paint. Some traces of Hunter Green. Clapboard& house parts from old Victorians& farm houses(1890's-early 1900's) in upstate NY. All the homes were beyond repair. Since this wood is 100+ years old.
