These boards were salvaged from the walls of the former Famous department store in Cairo. Illinois. These boards are beautiful and original. There is minimal damage to some of the edges and joints of the tongue and grooves. Overall, this wood is beautiful and very rare in this unpainted condition. Antique chestnut wood newel post 48" tall historic vintage architectural salvage
Beautiful historic/ antique chestnut wood newel post. Post was painted black previously but has been completely hand refinished. Stained and polyurethaned and is in great condition! Exact age is unknown but is at least over 100 years old and still very sturdy! The bottom corner is notched to fit over the corner of a step(see photos) The newel post measures 4 feet tall and approx. 6" wide in the center section. There is a small portion of the circular rosette missing(see last photo) but is not noticeable at all. The side shown without the rosette is the side that the handrail would attach to.

Antique Architectural Salvage Weathered Column Cap - Shabby Chic Decor
If this column cap could talk. I would be willing to bet it has more sordid stories and harrowing tales than Rob Ford. This exquisitely ornate, gorgeously weathered column cap is a magnificent piece of historic salvage. Chipped, peeling paint unearth the gritty texture hidden beneath the bone white exterior. The imperfect details, like cracked corners and a slight lean, give it character, while the flourishing curliques and imposing European charm belie what must have been a wealthy past in a building of grand stature. Shockingly, this isn't as heavy as you might expect(around 20 lbs, easy enough for this admittedly weak-armed shopkeep to lift) which makes it easy to repurpose for plenty of uses. My first thought was that this would be an incredible, one-of-a-kind pedestal for a Christmas tree, either real or fake(though you might need ... moreto slip something underneath one side to make it a bit more stable and cure the lean) However, if you have a bigger table, it would make an incredible centerpiece on its own, and could easily be accented with a candelabra, tealights, or bottlebrush trees. Year round, use it as a plant stand, small accent table, or just as salvage-chic decor. Measures approximately 14.5" wide. 15" tall. Please note: the paint is incredibly delicate and chips very easily. In person pickup is highly recommended. But I will be happy to ship. The next square is about 5 3/4" The bottom section with the handsome horizontal flutes on each corner is about 29 1/2" There is an opening for the handrail to attach. this is off a house that was built in 1904 so it is over 100 years old. I only have the one capital but I do have the four columns that are somewhat massive it came off of. They have nice top pieces with fluting on the faces. The columns taper and have carved capitals. The bases have carved floral designs. Each measures 46.75 tall and are 6 inches at the bases and 5.75 at the shafts. Overall they are in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as they are antique. Antique ARCHITECTURAL Salvage Oak NEWEL POST with Old Chippy White Paint Size: 45 3/4" tall x 8" x 8" overall(all measurements are approximate) Description: This whimsical antique newel post will add architectural interest to your home- the possibilities are endless. These are often seen only in decorator magazines and are hard to find. Even in antique stores. This is out of a Victorian mansion in the Los Angeles area. This one is wonderful and heavy with nice thick moldings and a whimsical details. The old white paint is all perfectly time worn. Shabby and chippy. You can see the original oak wood underneath in the photos, in places where the paint is worn off. It has been indoors for all of it's life so there is no dry rot that I sometimes see on wood that has been out in the elements. Though the paint is chippy and worn ... moreit is not'shedding' as some others are. There are carved wooden ribbon applique details on 3 sides- so romantic! Please see the photos of showing the cut out notches on the bottom of the back side. They are pretty much all this way when they are removed from a stairway(see last two photos) This could easily be filled in with some old wood or you can just turn that side toward the wall as I have. Even with the notched-out area on the base it still stands alone and is quite sturdy. There is also a rough area near the top on the back side where it was removed from the banister. There are a few minor age splits on the surface of the wood that are tight and do not distract- just adds to its character. This one is flat on the top which is nice to use to display a statue or other objects. For sale is a set of 4 matching solid brass poles used in old theaters and auditoriums. Each pole has several small screw holes where there used to be railing connecting each pole. One pole has more holes than the others(See Photos) Each pole measures 28-1/2" tall. The base is 4" in diameter. They weigh just over 4 lbs apiece and are very solid. All have three mounting holes in the base. There are no major flaws, Some light wear and patina/tarnish can be found throughout. Two of the poles have very small dents on the top. Each finial base has a slightly different acanthus leaf carved pattern on each of its four sides. Each carved base has a differently carved top finial. Each base also have one of it's four corners'let in' where it would have been joined to an adjacent piece of carving. Some of the base pieces have hand cut roman numerals cut into the bottom surface. These three pieces make up a wonderful small grouping of architectural carving. They are an'instant collection' that can be easily displayed as is. VERY NICE PAIR OF SMALL( 19 1/2" HT. MAHOGANY COLUMNS WITH HAND CARVED CAPITALS: The overall condition of this handsome pair of matched columns is very good. There are some small chips on each capital. But with the dark mahogany finish. The chips do not stand out. The tapered shaft has mahogany veneer. The varnish on the veneer has aged to a fine stippled surface. The stippling is very uniform and of a consistent color and texture on both columns. One column does have some abrasions on the shaft and a small chip and surface crack at the bottom. Most of this damage is on one side, allowing it to be placed out of sight on the back when displayed. The hand carved capitals are in a Corinthian style. Each capital has a large raised oval panel at the center of each face. Acanthus leaf carving is draped down from each volute. Wood Architectural Pillars by Patella
Architectural wood pillars custom made by Patella for the City of Boston. Made for a remodel job at the main branch of the Boston Public Library at Copley Square Boston. Unused and have been sitting in the climate controlled basement there for the last 23-25 years. Most are still in original crates. Exceptional engineering and construction. Patella is very very high end. The bases appear to be 6 ply marine grade plywood. Though most. I think 10 out of 12 have suffered some delamination of the glue on the biscuit joints of the base moulding. Not a very difficult or expensive fix. I have probably 25-30 pictures but had some trouble uploading probably will add more. They stiill have some dust on them. They are right about 10 feet tall, but am sure a talented person with a band saw could make them 8 or 9 feet tall. The caps are I believe corinthian ... morestyle and are plaster. MATCHING PAIR OF CARVED NEWEL POST CAPS: Very nice matching pair of hand carved newel post caps. Each side of a cap is deeply carved in an acanthus leaf design. The top element is a small segmented dome sitting on a flat base piece. Each corner of the base piece has a small circular corner ball. one corner ball is missing on one of the caps) The segmented dome is capped with a matching carved ball. The quality if the acanthus leaf design has been done with very good workmanship. Each cap is approx. 7 1/2" tall and 5 3/8" square. I am not sure of the wood type. It is a heavy. Densely grained wood, that is light in color. It could possibly be a light mahogany. The wood does have a dark mahogany stain with a satin varnished finish. ARCHITECTURAL COLUMN FIGURAL CAST IRON 10 ½ FEET This column is about 9 ft 6 inches tall with the top and bottom plates or capitals. The figural base without the capital is about 12 1/2 inches in diameter and extends up the column about 18 inches. It tapers to about 7 1/4 inches in diameter on top. The top plate is about 3 inches thick and 10 3/4 inches in diameter of very heavy cast iron. The bottom plate is about 15 inches in diameter overall and is 2 inches of very heavy cast iron. We found no chips or cracks. The figural area is very nice. There is some pitting on the top plate and in a few spots along the column. This is an antique outdoor column with seams. We think it came from Philadelphia. Maybe a subway station column; we are not sure. This would be great for a spiral staircase column or whatever your imagination can come up ... morewith. 2 Antique Ornate Solid Marble Column Capitals Architectural Salvage
For sale are two Antique Solid Marble Column Capitals. They each weigh 22-23 lbs. Measured Diagonally from corner to corner. They are 10" across the top(around 6" across the pinched in middle part) They could use some cleaning/polishing, I was unsure of the best way to do this so I left them as is. Some chips on both, mainly on the tops of the capitals. One capital has a larger chip on two of the top corners(see pics 4 and 5) The diameter of the round bottoms are a little less than 5 1/4" I will ship these in two separate boxes due to weight. Great old vintage street light poles. Made in the 1late 1800s- 1920's. These are missing their bases which would be easy to build. Wonderful rare zinc and cast iron pieces. Much of the original green paint still remains as shown. They need to be rewired. But each street light has a head(w/o glass) fluted post. 2 Antique 63" Cast Iron Square Fluted Industrial Architectural Columns Philadelp
Incredible pair of antique cast iron industrial square fluted columns. Each column measures over 5' tall(63" 12" square at the base, and 10" at the top. Deep fluting on each side, great honest patina. One has more paint left on it than the other. I'm sure these must date to before the turn of the century, as they must weigh upwards of 3 to 4 hundred pounds each. I'm told these came from a major salvage job some years ago in Philadelphia, PA. Very minimal amount of casting flaws. No cracks or breaks. A few very small chips or flaws, but nothing to speak of. This pair of columns would look incredible as is in an outdoor space or blasted and refinished for a really dramatic touch to any room. Don't miss out on this large, unique pair. Prefer local pickup in the NYC area but willing to freight, as well.

TIGER OAK Victorian Architectural Columns Ornate Carved Fireplace Capital Stands
Matching. Tapered, antique columns. Solid, quarter sawn oak construction. Guaranteed Victorian pieces. They have doubled, beveled, ring bases with a diameter of 5 1/2 inches. Tapering upwards is another beveled ring. Directly above that are acanthus leaf carvings. Then you have classical, ionic scrolls with a carved flower in the middle. These are completely free-standing at 33 3/8 inches tall. Can be used in so many ways! Note that carving is on 3 of the 4 sides. Lots of surface wear/imperfections, but excellent overall condition with carving remarkably intact. I also have a second pair of smaller columns available. Offered is a very nice antique vintage wood pillar or column. It is footed and measures about 29 3/4" tall. The round surface measures about 10" in diameter. The base measures about 18" from foot to foot. I believe the wood it is made out of is oak. It is in great shape. But it has scratches and dings typical from a piece of this age. The surface of the top has a lot of wear. This pillar would make a great plant stand or a stand for statuary. A very nice addition to your collection.

Architectural Columns, Smooth tapered, Corinthian Capitals, Bases, 16 Feet Tall
The asking price is for ONE COMPLETE PAIR OF COLUMNS but I have EIGHT COMPLETE COLUMNS. Each column includes a very ornate Corinthian. Hemp reinforced plaster capital, a sturdy tapered wooden column, and a waterproof(I think polyurethane) base. They stand approximately 16' feet tall total. They can however, be cut to any shorter length to fit a variety of height requirements. There are NO signs of rot as they have spent their entire life indoors in a year-round climate controlled environment. They are however, also suitable for decades of outdoor use with proper finishing. They are a beautiful color but will need to be re-painted or at least touched up, as they have handling scratches and unpainted areas.
