Looks to be made from pine wood with little steel bars in the front. It has a lid on the top that stays closed by means of a small piece of steel that is bent 90 degrees and simply turns to hold the door closed. It has been finished but long ago. Feels very waxy. The initials AN are written on the bottom in what looks to be ink and are done in the old style script writing, See the pictures for details. There are 2 Newel posts, the housed and open stringer(very thick) all the shaped, not square ballusters and all the handrails, even the trim that goes in between the ballusters. These all have white paint over them. But can easily be restored. I have restored many of my own items, and I know how beautiful these stairs will look. They would cost a fortune to find a solid piece of oak this large! I also have tons of door and window trim, and doors too. Here is a pair of big old solid wood columns(not hollow) They are w eathered but in decent conditi on overall. The bases show some rot. As these were stored outdoors for some time. I am leaving the bases attached for the listing. Since some folks may be i nclined to reb uild them; it app ears that these are all one piece. So the base is the same piece of wood as the co lumn. In order to remove them they wou ld need to be cut off. These columns are big and heavy. Probably about 200 pounds each. There are c racks and checks on them. But no major damage. Some of the tips of t he radius details have broke off. It looks like these were small pieces that were added to complete the curve(see pics) ... morethat have since fallen off. There is a little bit of paint on them but not much. I'm not sure what type of wood these are made of. These would make a great starting poi nt for a substantial pergola or archway. Or with a bit of repair these could be used on a porch. Four Vintage Copper-Clad Spindles Really unique and the possibilities for a project with these are endless! These were salvaged from an old building in Waterloo. Iowa I was told they came from an old elevator. Where or how they were used. I have no idea. Sure wish I knew. Would have loved to have seen it. They do show signs of age. Wear and use, there are dents in some and I've taken pictures of those. One spindle has part of the ball part missing. One spindle is missing the square part on one end. But I do have that and it will be included. They all do have one good side! One has been partially cleaned up, the others are in"as found" condition. They measure 22.5 inches in length and are approximately 1.5 inches in width at the widest part. These would make a nice addition to a restoration project.

I have no idea in what year this particular post was put on the porch. Meaning no way for me to know whether it was an original or a replacement somewhere down the line. I only know the year the house was built, and that the post was here when we bought it. It is about 94.5 inches tall, and the squared-off portions above and below the spindle section are 3.25" x 3.25" Measuring from the top to the point where the spindle begins is about 14.5" in length(height) and the spindle part is 39.5" long before the squared-off part starts again. That it was installed where the stairway turned. This post could be used in another stairway that is shorter by cutting off a section at the bottom. I have shown the measurements alongside the post in the photos below. I have also shown a small section where the natural wood shows. You are viewing a very rare and beautiful architectural item from the" Cast Iron Building" age of the 1800's. A cast iron column capital that was used by architects to decorate building columns which may have been entirely cast iron or heavy wood timbers. This is part of a four piece set. One for each of the four sides of a square column. The our sides were attached with bolts through the bolt holes. It looks very heavy, and is at 20 pounds. This piece has a great patina with traces of old paint and some expected normal rusting. The dimensions are: 13" high x 15" wide x 1" thick at the thickest point. It makes a great architectural decorative item which can be displayed on a wall, shelf, outdoors or just about anywhere. Large Antique Vintage Brass Walkway House Posts Columns Large Heavy See Pictures
Posts are about 40lbs each and 32 inches tall. The tops of the posts come out as shown in the pictures. One seems to be missing a pole attached to it. They are in overall good shape with no scratches or dings. I'm not sure of the exact age and couldn't find any markings on them. Antique chestnut wood newel post 48" tall historic vintage architectural salvage
Beautiful historic/ antique chestnut wood newel post. Post was painted black previously but has been completely hand refinished. Stained and polyurethaned and is in great condition! Exact age is unknown but is at least over 100 years old and still very sturdy! The bottom corner is notched to fit over the corner of a step(see photos) The newel post measures 4 feet tall and approx. 6" wide in the center section. There is a small portion of the circular rosette missing(see last photo) but is not noticeable at all. The side shown without the rosette is the side that the handrail would attach to.

This auction is for one pair of drop-dead gorgeous Victorian White Oak Fluted and Tapered Columns. Typically these would have been found on the upper deck of a fireplace mantle. Separated by a beveled glass mirror(see last photo- this mantle is for reference only and is NOT included in the auction) These columns measure 22-1/4" high overall with 5" diameter at the base. Detailed dimensions as follows(please feel free to ask if I'm not clear about a measurement) base 5" x 5" x 5/8" one only) plinth 1-1/8"H overall(1-1/16" 7/16" plinth lower 5.093"D(16" circumference) plinth upper 4.456"D(10" circumference) cap lower 3.661"D(11-1/2" circumference) cap upper 3.263"D(10-1/4" circumference) cap ring 5/16" column 22-1/4"H overall. flutes 20"H. flutes ... more3.183"D(10" circumference) at top. flutes 3.819"D(12" circumference) at base. flutes 3/16"W x 5/16" between. The columns come in their original finish and patina. Not molested(re-touched or re-finished) in any way. I believe it is shellac(becomes slightly tacky when tested with denatured alcohol) The finish is finely crazed(crackled) in the flutes. There is the occasional small bruise. Most often on the base plinth. There is also one very thin shrinkage/glue crack on each column, running parallel with the flutes. I wouldn't have known they were there, except the finish has slightly darkened and dulled along these cracks. One plinth base is missing, but this could be easily duplicated. Since I've not removed the caps or plinths. I'm not sure whether these columns are solid or hollow. The shrinkage cracks might suggest hollow, whereas the weight(about 6lbs each) suggests solid. Vintage Antique Newel Post Repurpoused Wood Column Pedestal Banister Stair Case
Antique Vintage Newel Post. Was told by the person I purchased it from that it came from a pre 1900's farm house that was torn down recently. He also told me that it was oak and believes it to be the original finish. It's in really good condition for being a hundred plus years old. There are a couple of blemishes from where it was attached to the rest of the railing including one crack at the bottom. All blemishes are pictured. I will also remove all of the nails that are in the piece prior to shipping. I just wanted to show it in its barn found state. Architectural Wood Pillar, Column Stand, Vintage Antique
Offered is a very nice antique vintage wood pillar or column. It is footed and measures about 29 3/4" tall. The round surface measures about 10" in diameter. The base measures about 18" from foot to foot. I believe the wood it is made out of is oak. It is in great shape. But it has scratches and dings typical from a piece of this age. The surface of the top has a lot of wear. This pillar would make a great plant stand or a stand for statuary. A very nice addition to your collection.

vintage antique reclaimed wood water pipe
I have three sections of wood pipe spiral bound with metal bands. The pipe is also covered in tar. The eighty nine inch long by ten inch pipe has the most damage but can be easily fixed up. Some of the banding is bent up but most of it has just come loose. It is in sturdy condition preserved by the clay dirt it was in. the pipe was dug out with an excavator so you can be sure it has plenty of strength. All I did to the pipe is pressure wash it off. The two. One hundred and thirty seven inch long by ten inch pipe are in the best condition. Pipe A has a little damage at the male end but no damage to the banding it has just came loose. Pipe B has no damage. This pipe was used a water main for a small town.
