Highly Carved Antique Victorian Oak Newel Post Cap in Original Condition
Here's a very ornately carved cap to an oak newel post which must have come from some impressive Victorian building. This would look stunning either built into a stairway of a Victorian home or as an interesting accent piece. There are a few chips. Bumps and nail holes and it is also quite dirty. But I'll leave any cleaning to the new owner. Although beautiful as is. The original quartersawn oak finish would certainly benefit from a little oil and wax to bring out the grain. It measures 21" tall by a maximum width of about 9 1/2" and weighs in at a hefty 17 pounds of solid oak. Shipping is $16 within the US only and pick up in person is free. Good luck!

First let me state I believe the wood is oak but iam not sure.The carved newel post is a true work of art restore it back to original wood and this is a fine piece of period workmanship.To have this item made would not only cost a fortune but possibly could not be duplicated.The other posts where at the ends of the staircase at the 2nd and 3floors they are 87-85-79 inches tall by 5 inches wide with cut outs as pictures show.The front carved post is 60x6-1/2 with cut out at bottom 44 inches from top point take a good look at the pictures this has fine detail hidden under paint.Its a true winner all the way for any other info email or call Vinny 1-631-300-7403 thanks.

Antique Solid Oak Architectural Carved Victorian Newel ? Post Column Pillar
Solid oak post or column measuring about 23 1/4" tall. The diameter of the plain end measures about 5" and the other end where the carving is measures about 7" in diameter. Some areas of the column are straight cut oak while on 2 sides there is tiger oak grain showing. This piece is unfinished. The end with the carving is flat on the bottom while the other end is concave.There is a small piece of the turned ring near the carved portion that is missing. Also there is a tight age crack extending about 2" long from the end of the plain side and some dark spots on the turned ring on the bottom. Thank you for viewing. We think it was salvaged in the early 70’s and has been stored in a garage. It has fantastic carving and details. The Newel Post that is 26 ½ inches tall. Base is 9 ½ inches across and the top is 6 ½ inches across on the largest side. There are a couple of chipped places. One is at the very top and is about 2 ½ inches and the other is 1 ½ inches on a top rung. There is a cut out for the step at the bottom but is freestanding. The total measurements are 46.25 inches tall by 7.75 inches square at the base and 6 inches square at the shaft. This is a very fine antique Victorian Oak Newel Post Circa. 1870's. It has been both turned and carved. The dimensions are 48 1/2" in height by 7" in width. Condition overall is excellent. Weight is around 60 lbs and I am charging a flat rate of $75 for shipping but will return any unused funds to the buyer. 1800s Ornate Tiger Oak Library Column Victorian Carved Stand Tall Fireplace Post
Tall. Classic, architectural column. Original, salvaged, 19th century, antique. Slightly tapered, quarter sawn oak. Tiger striping is fantastic. Encircling bottom is nicely beveled& recessed trim around the circumference. Raised block base. Moving up near the top are 2 more small raised bands, again encircling the circumference. Above those you see ornate egg/dart trim. Beautiful scrolls at all 4 corners. Carved flower medallions on 3 sides. Other side is plain. Good overall condition. All carving intact. It measures 64 5/8 inches long with a 6 5/8 by 6 1/2 inch base. Some finish wear on one side of lower half. Top measures 7 5/8 inches square. Many other salvaged architectural pieces listed. Pair of Circa 1890 English carved oak newel post finials in the form of heraldic lions holding shields. Matched pair are mirror image. Hand carved pieces guaranteed 19th c. Elizabethan Tudor style. These were cut off a larger section of post and so do not have screw holes on bottom. I have been keeping them for a future project or stairs, but I'm letting go of some projects. These lions are fantastic pieces and measure 8" tall. They sit evenly and flat. just need a mounting hole drilled.
