Some time during the mid 20th Century being reinforced with slide on steel tubing. One of the steel casings has slid down. See pix, it can be left as-is, slid back on or removed though not by me. Found hidden in barn rafters in Ohio. OLD original gold or bronze color I saw splash painted replicas of these at south point equestrian casino in LasVegas I think these were cast in one mold. Sand casting? Height 14 inches. Width 9 inches approx. 25 pounds each. There are no holes for a ring like you usually see. But there is wearing around the necks where reins may have been wrapped. They are beautifully executed in solid heavy wrought iron with several layers of original paint. They measure 46" tall when in the ground. 69" total length. Diameter is 8" at the widest point. There's a 2-1/2" movable iron ring resting on a large carved oval orb. The columns are nicely carved with acanthus leaf design. The lower bases are intact. In very good to excellent condition. Some time during the mid 20th Century being reinforced with slide on steel tubing. One of the steel casings has slid down. I am offering a matching pair(two) Vintage Cast Iron Horse Hitching Posts. To protect them from the weather I have painted them with black exterior rustoleum paint. These pieces are ornate with a few nice details that differentiates them other vintage hitching posts. They measure 4 feet(48 inches) tall. 7 inches wide at widest point, the base is 1.8 feet x 1.65 feet, and the ring is 4 inches around. They weigh approximately 125 pounds each. They were burried in my grass up to the post hence rust to base. Rings have rust but can be oiled. They are very solid pieces. The base can be separated from posts. Please ask any questions. Very good condition for age and one post has some wear on the side so you can see the steel rods they used inside. They are 6 feet 10 inches long and 4 inches wide on each side. Pair of late 19th century wooden hitching posts. Salvaged out of a barn in east/central NY state. One post has an old cast ring still attached. Posts measure 76" tall x 5.5" diameter- this post measures 43.5" from the bottom area(where it would have most likely been countersunk in the ground to the top) Second post is 79" tall x 6" diameter. Antique Jocko Hitching Posts- Set Of 2
I have a set of two antique Jocko hitching posts. As you can see in the pictures they have had no repairs or painting done. Which honestly I would rather than the ones I see on here that have been repainted. They are cast iron and quite heavy. The sides do not line up perfectly, which from my research is proof that they are original. They have original rings in the hands of Jocko. I have seen multiple ones listed that do not have the rings. These would make wonderful additions to anybody's collection or as yard art. They are approx 11 inches tall.
