Vintage Tiger Oak Drop Leaf Table Very Good Condition. Beautiful Grain On Top.
This is a very good condition tiger oak drop leaf gate leg table. I was unable to find a maker anywhere on the table. It appears to be early to mid 20th century. There are no major cracks or broken parts on the table. There is an unseen reinforced board underneath that can be seen in the picture. It does have the usual petina of an antique table but as you can see is in great shape. The table measures 39" wide x 30" long x 29" tall when open and is 14" wide when closed. Pembroke type occasional table is mahogany with a shapely curved top over one drawer and unadorned legs of a George III style. Perhaps a Hepplewhite pattern. Curved reed edge detail on the top. S light nick here on the left side. And the top surface is done in a French polish. Square tapered legs. Single drawer has keyhole joint construction(similar to a french dovetail joint) and a brass plate"Clinton Shops Guaranteed Furniture" embedded on the right side. Drawer glides smoothly. Hinges and the side supports for the drop sides move well. No breaks. I note a bit of dried up hide glue at one rear corner. Ethan Allen Drop Leaf Table by Baumritter of NY. This table was recently refinished and in very beautiful condition. As with most things. It is not 100% perfect and has its very small flaws, but it looks almost as if it came from the factory. It is a very beautiful table that is smooth and shines like new It measures 35 L x 25 W x 24 H. It is stained in American walnut and is an older piece. Possibly 50’s, 60’s or 70's. It has pad feet and swivel wood drop leaf supports. I believe the table is made of Maple construction and is a hard to find table. The numbers for this table are 2534 and 169080. The 169080 number may represent the type of table. Such as a drop leaf style. Ethan Allen has always been known for quality and craftsmanship. Like Lane and others. This Baumritter side table has been completely stripped to the bare wood. It was ... moresanded with 80 grit then 100. 150 and last 220 grit for a smooth stainable finish. It was thoroughly cleaned in between each sanding and then stained in American walnut. It was then sanded with 220 grit, cleaned and clear coated four times, as it was sanded in between each clear coat with 220 grit. It has been sealed with a polycyclic clear coat(4 coats) for a tougher protective finish. The final product was sanded with 600 grit. Than 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000 and finally 2500 grit. It was also wet sanded in those grits for a better finish. At the end, 4 coats of paste wax was applied to the table top, while the edges and legs were wiped with Weiman’s lemon oil to enhance the color and protect the finish. I would love to see it go to a good home to be enjoyed as maybe a functional table or just a nice table for a lamp and maybe some pictures. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
