This table was purchased in 1958 from Scan in Manhattan, marked simply with"374" Scan sold this table beginning in 1955 through 1960, probably made in Denmark for Scan. Still available new from Sweden beginning at $4500, or check out 1stdibs for similar tables, some signed and some not signed as this one is. This is NOT a Yugoslavian version. Elegantly figured walnut table top-one photo shows the figuring clearly. Rich European walnut veneer top with solid wood legs and brass hardware. The legs have the original toned lacquer finish, waxed and closely matching in hue the table top. The finish has been carefully restored ... morewith a hand rubbed oil finish, as was original. Over the years the table has developed a rich patina, and, unfortunately, a few small blemishes, shown in photos, noticeable on close inspection. The last four photos show the blemishes. The four drop leaves show no fading. The final application to the wood is Howard's"Feed and Wax" which, along with a neutral high quality paste wax if you wish more shine, should be all the table will need for maintenance in future. When completely dry, the finish is uniform in color and soft glow. This table is in excellent vintage condition; it is not in new condition but better than new in its color. This is a family piece I have renewed. As an interesting note, in the 1930′s the MOMA in New York commissioned Swedish designer Bruno Mathsson to design furniture for its public rooms in its new addition.
