It would be very pretty if it was refinished/repainted- there is a lot of detail in the base and the legs. Here is an antique iron cats paw pedestal stand. The cats paw feet have very nice detail and I added a close up photo of each one plus they measure 16 inches apart from one another then this stands from the bottom of the cats paw feet to the top of its round wood top 27 3/4 inches. The iron is all original with nice patina and in nice condition but its wood top which is old plywood and measures 16 inches across its center has a crack in its center on the one side which shows in photo one. The plywood top can be easily removed by taking out the four mounting screws from its base then you could jig saw cut a round piece of cherry, oak or what you prefer then also make the top any size you wanted. Wow! HEAVY. Solid, with some carvings and the top is burly and fabulous. This table has been in the family for decades. Sadly, as the house it lived in got sold so must the table and other items. It was originally purchased from an antique dealer in Mexico. Came from a wealthy family home there. Begging for benches around it! Seats 12 or more easily. In having someone look at the wood I could not get a definite answer of the type. We are nearly certain it is not mesquite and it could be mahogany but birch is what the grain looks like a bit. Difficult to say. The table was purchased for much more than the asking price here and then had to be shipped. The table is in good condition. Cloudy spots in the images are from the flash of the camera. The table color is the darker pictures. I've included the lighter ones in order to see the table ... moredetails better. Highly Carved Mohagony Square Wood Side Table. Recessed Round Glass Top Vintage Fantastic side or end table. Vintage if not antique age. This came from an estate in the Chadds Ford PA area. It has a dark finish. I think it's mahogany but I'm not certain. It's roughly 29" tall and the top is about 22" side to side. The glass insert is removable. It has some chips at the edge that are hard to see because they are in the recessed area so wood is under them. The corners are raised up with fantastic carving. There are some worn areas. Where the wood is visible, but no gouges in the wood I've included close up photos of these areas. A little Old English and they will practically disappear. Made in France is painted on the underside of marble and also the top of the table. This is a superb piece whose value only increases as the years go by. The drawers have"key holes" for a"skeleton key" but no keys and I don't think it was meant to actually function with locks. Although. The inside DOES have a lock looking mechanism ... morein the front of each drawer. I was never one to tally in locks and didn't care to investiage. Who locks drawers anway? Legs have lovely iron engraved attachments on them, such a pretty feature! I purchased this table many years ago at a very good auction house for over 1400.00 after all the buy ins. My high bid was between 1000/1500. But of course there were a few other people who wanted it.and of course that made me want it more.lol.I"had to have it"lol I was pleased it didn't hit 1500.that was my cap! lol.
