I was told this is a tea table. It has a tilt-top or drop leaf. When the table top is raised it locks into place. It shows wear from years of use and has a nice patina. I don't see any damage or repairs. It is marked Mahogany and I think the maker's label or store label says T ENN for Tennessee(see photos) What I really like about this table is that it has a cross bar at the top for carrying. A wonderful High End Historic Charleston Tea Table with tilt-top made by Baker Furniture. It is part of a series of Baker furniture that is called the Historic Charleston Collection. The pieces in this collection are copies of antique Southern Furniture so in that way it is to be understood as a reproduction. This being said. It is still a beautiful classic solid wood piece of furniture made by one of the finest American Furniture Makers, Baker. We purchased this piece over 20 years ago at an estate sale. Used it for about 15 years and stored for the last seven years. I can't find any information on this particular piece anywhere. The closest I got was a piece made in Ireland with the same triple balister. Carved knees and claw and ball feet. I consider this a Tea or Serving Table because of the four carved carrying slots. See Pics) Mahogany Wood. Stands 28 1/4 inches tall. Top measures 26" by 20" Each leg spans approx. 12 3/4 inches. The triple Balister is approx. 7 inches around above the carving. Flat head screws.
