Very Old Antique Candle Plant Primitive Table Walnut or Mahogany Wood Stand NR
This auction is for a very old candle/plant stand. It is from the 1800's. It has been in my family for many generations. I am not sure if it is walnut or mahogany. I was told it was walnut but just not sure how to tell. The photos show the condition of the stand. You can see on the top and the bottom of the top piece. It does come off and you can glue it permantly if you like. When I ship it I will wrap the round piece off of the stand and that will protect it better. I just left it as is. The top piece has some seperation in the wood and you can see on the bottom where it has been held together with old clips. It has a little area where the wood is chipped on the bottom rim. Please look at photo. I think the imperfections give it character due to the life it has had. I saw one very much like it in an antique shop in Winter Park Fl for ... more$275. It was always in the corner by the sitting room chairs at my great grandparents home. It was used to hold the calling cards of the visitors to the home. It is a nice old piece with a great rustic look about it. The finish has a great worn patina and gives it a great look for a country house or chabby chic living room. The top is made from 4 separate pieces of wood and there is some issues with the surface being a little uneven. There is a little give in one of the end piece boards. The piece is still sturdy and the top could hold a plant or vase but I would not put anything very heavy on it without tightening up the top some. I have left it as is because I like the inconsistency in the top as it shows age and gives character to the piece. If you are looking for a piece in perfect condition you may not want to purchase ... morethis piece. But if you are looking for a great antique look with character this piece may be for you. We are pleased to offer this beautiful vintage plant stand or side/accent table. This stunning. Solid wood table features a carved roses and leaves on two sides of the table skirt. The finish is quite nice and the stand has been hand painted and glazed. The general color is taupe with a heavy over glaze of golden brown. The table top has a nice, hand painted, French Ribbon which continues around the perimeter. The caved rose and leaf medallions have also been painted. The leaves are green and the roses are a golden yellow. The table has long cabriole legs that have a gentle curvature. The table has a paper sticker attached under the top. This is a really pretty metal table or plant stand with 2 inlay marble pieces. The stand is about 30.5" tall and about 15.25" wide. The top marble piece is a little over 9"x9" The bottom marble piece is about 4.25"x4.25" The bottom marble has a couple of very small chips on it's edge. The top marble piece has scuffs from something being placed on it and a couple of hairline fractures maybe but it is still completely intact. The metal has a leaf pattern. Look closely at the pictures. They give a much more accurate description than I am capable of describing. I can only say this is a beautiful used table/ plant stand. The type of hardwood is unknown. I am unsure of its age, as it was obtained at an estate sale several years ago. however, I don't believe it is antique, possibly made in the 1950's. The top diameter is 10 1/2" and it is 36" tall.
