Antique end table- Early 1900's Craftsman, Mission style-Quality Vintage piece
Antique end table. Occasional table from early 1900's or before. It stands about 21 inches tall with a 13 1/2 square top. Underneath there are brackets for support and an old crayon mark from the maker that looks like the number 125. I am not sure of the style. Perhaps Eams or Crafstman style?Has normal scuffs and scratches from wear and age. I am not an expert on antiques, but I do know this is a very old piece and grew up with it in my home. Vintage Bongo Style Drum - Table With Asian Markings 24" X 18" - Year Unknown
OK. I am going to try and describe this piece the best I can. I have looked and looked and looked for one similar online, but the only things I have seen are either newer or African. This one has what looks to be hand-carved Japanese markings and symbols, but I am unsure of what they represent. This piece is 24" tall and a little larger than 18" wide. The top of the drum is made of either leather or some type of skin(sheep? As you can see by the picture the top has marks on it. But it is tight and plays perfectly. However, as a"music" friend of mine pointed out, this was indeed crafted to be a table as the skin is riveted in rather than tied(as to be replaced) Around the drum are numerous oritental figures in different poses. As you can also see by the pictures. There are many markings on the drum/table. However, I am ... morenot going to try and"clean" or"restore" this piece. I figure whoever is buying it will appreciate receiving it as I did, and if they want to clean it up, feel free. Centered to the piece are two doors that open up. Each door is around 11" tall. Inside is open like an empty barrel and is ready to store whatever you like. The bottom of the piece has three legs which hold the table steady. This piece is pretty sturdy. Eastlake Style Table Base
This piece is a vintage Eastlake Table Base. The table(from the floor to the brace for the table top) is 28" high. The brace for the table top is 23" X 16" And it is 2 1/2" high(where the trim is not adorned) The table base is in very good condition. But it does have a few dings here and there. The legs have beautiful detail. Feet have a spiral design etched into the circular shaped feet. And the legs(and bracing for the legs) have square and round elements with simple flower petal shaped carvings dug out of the wood. The main pedestal of the table is round, and there are four legs surrounding the round pedestal- they are rectangular posts with simple detail. The cross bracing of the legs have nice carvings and make this Eastlake table a great find. The table features beautiful Sevres style, cobalt blue, porcelain both on the table top as well as the table column. The table top has a large center, recessed plaque featuring a hand painted, Romantic, Rococo, Couples Portrait, signed Fragonard. Additionally, there are 12 smaller floral plaques around the top perimeter. The plaques have very beautiful colors and each is outlined with gold gilt scrolls which are brilliant in direct light(see photos) Gilt bronze provides the top skirt as well as the"frames" for each of the plaques. The bronze features intricate, embossed roses, shells and lattice patterns. The center table column is a large vase with hand painted floral bouquets and gold gilt accents. The wear is consistent with age. The bottom walnut piece is done in a patchwork form(see pic 12) a kind of Paul Evans style. Lovely, Victorian style, caned top glass covered coffee/side table-oak
I am not sure how old it is. It was purchased in an antique shop and has been in a private home for 30 years. As you can see in the picture some of the caning is broken(I didn't even see it at first) but with the glass top it functions perfectly as a side table or coffee table. The oak is a pretty not- too- dark brown. The wood insert gives this piece a lot of interest. measurements are approx 3feet long by 18-20 inches wide and stands 2 feet tall. THIS CAN NOT BE SHIPPED. Gorgeous Antique wormy wood top FARM - style dining table with carved base.
Wow! HEAVY. Solid, with some carvings and the top is burly and fabulous. This table has been in the family for decades. Sadly, as the house it lived in got sold so must the table and other items. It was originally purchased from an antique dealer in Mexico. Came from a wealthy family home there. Begging for benches around it! Seats 12 or more easily. In having someone look at the wood I could not get a definite answer of the type. We are nearly certain it is not mesquite and it could be mahogany but birch is what the grain looks like a bit. Difficult to say. The table was purchased for much more than the asking price here and then had to be shipped. The table is in good condition. Cloudy spots in the images are from the flash of the camera. The table color is the darker pictures. I've included the lighter ones in order to see the table ... moredetails better. I apologize for the pictures. The table is currently in a climate controlled locker and the lighting is pathetic with no electric to plug into. Measures 104.5" by 35" by 30.5" tall.
