The finish is original and in very good condition considering age. The wood shows minor signs of age and wear and is in very good condition. There are no chips. Table was just brought into our store from the mill where it was custom. Hand made. Beautiful warm"maple color" but 100% antique pine. Heavy. Much hand work went into carving. Base is solid and not hollow! Top is a full 2" thick, single layer wood. 44" wide x 31" high with runners that are 6 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" thick. 9 1/2" wide pedestal at widest part. Top is made of 3" to 7" random widths. One of a kind, unique table that was not mass produced. Kiel Furniture was founded in 1892 in Kiel. Wisconsin. The company produced oak, mahogany, and walnut furniture in Milwaukee, WI from 1910 until it closed in 1932. I don’t know the exact year of this table. But based on research I’ve done, I’m guessing it to be somewhere around 1920. The wood top has a beautiful design and rich wood grain with a beveled edge. It would be just gorgeous once this table is refinished. The table has scratches and some of the finish is worn on the top and the legs. There appears to be a couple small paint spots on the top. Possibly early 1900s. Bottom seems to be marked with Pat 258 10B 891 JC. But I have no idea exactly what this is. Could be a pattern number instead of a patent number. This is a Truly stunning piece. The variation of color in the wood and the tones in the marble insert is just beautiful. The picture does not do it justice. There has been some repair I tried to show in the photos but it's hardly noticeable and it's only on one side of the table and a very tiny chip the edge of the Marble again hardly noticeable. Beautiful walnut marble top stand. Center table, lamp table with a great base. The top shape is unusual. It is flat on the long sides and has an architectural curved shape on the ends. Wood base matches shape of marble. Marble is not attached to base. Both pieces are original, no screws, no broken pieces, minor fissures from age. Stable, sturdy base. There is a fissure on the very bottom underneath in the center. Original to piece as it's been repaired with a nail that matches all other nails. No chips on the corners of the marble. One small fissure in one corner. Like a shallow chip. Does not distract from piece. Two very small scratches next to this. Normal slight surface scratches normal for a piece this age.
