I could not tell for sure if the hardware was consistent with a formally antique piece, or just with a somewhat later vintage piece. Large Antique or Vintage Trunk. In good condition. Made of wood painted black on outside and has paper lining on inside. Measure 36" wide. 24" tall, 22" front to back. Leather handles on sides are torn off and need replacements. Has metal corners, brackets, hinges, lock. Lock is an'Eagle Lock' with no key included, and unure if it will work. Has some kind of hard leather or hide like material around edges. Has an identification sticker on top which cant be fully read, but is shown in photos. Can only make out location, Newark NJ, and above that the last 3 letters of name'ard' Paper lining on inside in poor shape and metal bracket on inside, that holds top lid from swinging to far back, is broken and needs replacement. Vintage Antique National Vulcanized Fibre Co. Trunk For Sale (1890-1930s)
This is a wardrobe trunk that has been stored in our attic for more than 20 years. It was made by the National Vulcanized Fibre Co. We do not know exactly what year it was made but by doing some research we found that these trunks were made anywhere from 1890 to around the 1940s. The inside of the trunk is in excellent condition and the outside does show wear. But it is extremely old. The lock on the trunk no longer works because we didn't have a key and we had to pry the lock off. It didn't do any damage to the trunk itself and the lock still is intact, just not usable. The clasps on the outside both work and will secure the trunk closed. All the drawers on the inside are original and have no damage. The leather handle on the side is still intact and handled carrying the 75 pound trunk. The trunk has been closed the entire time in ... morethe attic and kept ALL mice and animals out. Fabulous Vintage Indian Wedding/Dowry Chest
Found at the famous Marche Aux Puces(Flea Market) in Paris in the 70's by a woman furnishing her Paris apartment. This authentic Indian wedding/dowry chest was acquired from the woman's estate when all of her furnishings(and her Yves St. Laurent couture) were shipped back to Marin County upon her death. Dimensions are 38" high with wheels. 30" high without wheels, 27" wide, 46" long. The chest is 50+ years old, probably more. Fantastic statement in an entry. Small Antique Steel Trunk, Suitcase, Auto Trunk? Interesting Decorative Item!!!
I've had this steel trunk for years and always thought it had been made to be an auto trunk but now I'm not sure as I found a site on trunks that showed steel trunks with nubs on the top like this one. It said that the nubs were there to protect the top from trunks being stacked on it so who knows? At any rate. It's pretty cool in a rustic, decorative way. Although it has some superficial rust on top, the trunk is still quite functional with all the parts intact and a functioning lock with key. The lock has a really interesting locking system. The lid has a small mirror on the inside. The only thing that is not original is a small nut and bolt that I installed to reattach the hinge as the original bolt and nut was gone when I got it. HUGE Antique Dome Top Camel Back Steamer Trunk --- 35.5” x 28” x 21”
This antique dome top trunk is in marvelous condition for its age. There is no major damage to this trunk. Just normal wear and tear that you would expect in an item this old… and which I will describe in detail later on…this beauty has tons of character! The beautifully curved dome top, with 5 strips of curved 2-inch wood…is a sight to behold. Just on the top of this trunk are 18 ornately etched plates of metal hardware. The lock hardware and lock are gorgeous, too. The trunk is made from tin, metal, and wood. There is a total of seventeen 2” wood strips of varying lengths found on all sides of the trunk. The wood strips look like oak to me…they’re in excellent condition. The trunk measures about 35.5” long across the bottom x 21” wide at the ends x 28” tall to the center of the dome, which is the highest point. There is some surface rust ... moreon the trunk. Mainly on the bottom…nothing has rusted through. In many of the photos where I used flash, it appears that there is rust on a lot of the surface area. This does not show up as prominently under normal lighting conditions. I believe that perhaps the trunk has been varnished and/or stained at one time… there is a beautiful glossy finish to the tin surface. Most of the ornate hardware is in excellent condition, also…a few pieces are bent or have minor damage. There’s lots of surface dents on the tin, as you would expect. The lock does not work. The hinged lock tabs do not close. The hinge inside of the trunk that holds the lid open is broken…it needs repair or replacement. The leather handles at each end of the trunk are new…I would not try to lift the trunk with these handles, however. Following is a brief description of each side of the trunk. With information that I have not already mentioned: Dome Top: Beautiful curved top with five 2-inch curved wood strips. Wonderful ornately etched metal hardware nailed at the ends of each wood strip. The chest measures approximately 44 inches wide, 39 inches tall, and 32 1/2 inches deep. There are 6 drawers, each measuring approximately 41 1/2 inches wide, 5 inches tall, and 32 inches deep. I am not sure what wood was used to make this- the wood has what I would call a walnut or mahogany hue to it on the outside surfaces, which have been stained sometime in the past. I do not know when this was made- my guess would be sometime in the first half of the 20th century. It is made well. A very impressive and classy piece. Vintage Shaker style Cherry Drawers Accent piece Chest- Wonderful!
I do not deal in antiques so will describe this piece in as much detail as possible. It is a small chest of drawers which I believe is made from cherry but I am not certain. It does match the cherry dropleaf it sits on. It is heavy weighing 12 pounds 15 ounces. It was handmade by a woodworker named G Roth and has been in our family for many years. My grandmother said she found it in a shoppe in upstate NY. The drawers are all notched into one another and the chest is put together by pegs of wood. You can see in the pictures. The backer board does have some headless nails holding it on and there is an old green piece of flannel or felt on the bottom. It has a wonderful patina and feels smooth on the outside. The drawers fit exactly in their compartments. Any wear is age related but there are no big gouges or scratches. Please ask any questions ... moreand I will take more pictures. It is sold as is and not returnable. No international shipping or sales. The chest stands 15 inches high and the width of the bottom is 20 inches. And the whole unit is 6 inches wide. The top outside is 8 inches across. It has been a favorite piece for years and practical as well. Top Extreme Left and Right Sides has some type of thin planks that cover the chest top yet in the middle. They appeared very frayed so they were stripped off. It brought up a strong smell of Cedar. The entire box, it was filthy, was sanded lightly inside and out. I only sanded around the Pinup girls. I found NO bugs, not even one while doing this, that was my main concern. The Leather handle fell apart but the the ends had to be unscrewed from the luggage. See the front, those will be enclosed with the screws. No Key, Hinges and Metal Locks, appear to be a plain metal they

This trunk was sent to the Wisconsin State Historical Society- it is written in paint on the top of trunk It has the two shipping tags on both sides- on it it states that the contents were historical photographs and china having to do with Col. I have had this trunk for about 15 years and it has provided great storage and looks beautiful in my living room. The iron and internal structure are in great condition and definitely original. This is a rare piece. I was not the purchaser. However, and therefore I do not have any information about its age and origin. It is definitely old and original though. I am moving house and do not have room for it. It's heavy, probably more than 200 lbs and very solidly built. Anyone who can provide further information please help. I know it cost a lot more than this listed price.

Vintage/antique steamer trunk, black/brass, flat top, monogram "WFK",
This trunk has a lot going for it. With its flat top. It makes a nice coffee table. Once it gets aired out, it would be extra storage space. It is quite attractive, in a"shabby chic" sort of way. It is quite old, although I don't know where it came from. My mother had it in her attic for as long as I can remember(which is a pretty long time) For the past 8 years, it has been in storage. WE just got it out, but since we have 2 others, we really don't need this one. It is black, with brass fittings/edges, so its quite attractive. Unfortunately we didn't have the key so had to"pick" the lock. It will shut properly, so you can carry it, but won't lock. The leather handles on each end are well worn, but we were able to use them-carefully! to move the thing. Inside, it has a decent lining, which you can see in ... morephoto 6. There are 2 trays, neither one of which is the original, as they don't fit on the edges properly. The first, shown in photos 7 and 8, has 2 compartments and fastens with a couple leather straps with snaps(one is broken) The edges of this drawer are rather crushed(see photos 11 and 12) There is another tray underneath, which has some sort of dried goop, that probably was gooey at one point, as it has been covered with tape. On the left side, it has the monogram"WFK" written in red(photo 4) It was made by the"William Bal Company" in Newark, N.J. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ITEM IS PICK-UP ONLY. Antique 10 Drawer Hinged Lid Montgomery Ward Seed Tool Storage Chest Cabinet Box
This is an unusual antique 10 drawer chest with an additional compartment in the top under the hinged lid. I originally thought it might have been used for tools. But I found an old seed sales tag from 1944 on the inside for Wards Shady Lawn Seed Mix and a tag from the Department of Agriculture in St. Paul, MN(included) The side of the chest is marked Montgomery Ward& Co, Winona, MINN, so I believe it could have been used for seeds. It measures 24" L x 13" W x 31" H. Some of the drawers have a hole drilled through the bottom toward the front edge(visible in the 11th photo, looking down at open drawers) The lid has a latch on the front so it can be locked. All drawer hardware looks original. It is in very good condition overall. Joints are tight, and nothing is loose or broken but there are a few small chips missing from ... morethe wood. The finish on the lid and around the top is quite scuffed and there are some visible dings and shallow gouges, but the aged patina is fantastic. The drawers, sides, and back have a lighter finish and are in very good condition with some light scuffs and a few paint splashes and marks. The inside of the drawers have some dusty residue, but the majority of the chest is clean overall. It will be packed very well and insured during shipping. Still has all four functional casters, and includes the removable tray. However. It does appear to have been painted at some point. Also. This trunk does not include any keys. Although I don't know the official age of this trunk. Some research showed that the company was founded in 1876. So it could be as old as late 1800s, or as recent as the early 1920s or 1930s.
