Wisconsin area. This ... moreis beautifully Rosemaled trunk from the very early period of Norwegian pioneering i mmigration to North America. Front and both sides are elaborated hand painted with floral motifs. T he lock is period to the time. As would be the nails and wooden pegs used. No key for the lock though. The trunk is solidly built with the hand forged metal plates reinforc ing sides and top. Inside is relatively clean- no major issues- wood work has stood test of times. A few scuff marks here and there. As would be normal for a trunk of this age. Also of interest is remnant of a label on one side that spells out'Milwaukee- Ontario Huron. R.R' believe the could be a railroad label from mid 1800s. Measurements are length 41" x width 18" x height 22" Please see pictures for more details. Let me begin by saying I do not know a lot about this trunk and I am no expert. I cannot find another one exactly like it online. From information I have gathered I believe it is a camel back trunk from the 1870s or 1880s. Several pieces of the hardware on the trunk have"Patent mar 16" on them. Dimensions: Length 32" 18" wide, 21" tall, 14" deep The trunk is made of metal and wood. The leather handle/strap on the left side of the trunk has been broken off and is MIA. The latch on the front is intact. But it won't latch and the key is also MIA, presumably with the leather handle. Maybe they are lying on a beach somewhere together. Up for auction is a well-traveled and purpose-built antique leather trunk. This trunk chest features real brass hardware with working latch closure. Reinforced leather corners, interesting nail head detail and real flat copper rivets. It is a very sturdy, well-constructed trunk which also has four inner metal braces to make it more crush-resistant, along with a green twill cotton liner throughout. Please look at all the photos to get a sense for the used condition of this antique trunk chest. The trunk has two clasps at its front where a leather handle was likely affixed at one time. In addition. One of the leather seams across the back side has pulled away slightly as shown, but does not detract from the piece as it is on the backside. Offered for sale is an Antique vintage small trunk covered in leather accented with brass studs. The wood looks very dark and appears to be mahogany. But I'm not sure. The box measures 12.5" long x 7' wide x 4' high. Has one compartment. The outside of the box shows some age appropriate wear, the photos greatly magnify the surface wear, in person the box wears the patina of age gracefully, and presents very well. Small Vintage Black Leather and Wood Trunk. I believe it is real leather/cow hide. It has a tag in almost immaculate condition on the inside of the lid that says Warren Leather Goods Co. Worcester Mass. The outside is black. The leather is not tight to the wood and slightly wavy in some spots. There is some blotchiness, evidence of stickers and wear to the finish. There is a"T" inside of a diamond painted on in red on both sides of the trunk. It has only a few wear holes on the edges that are 1" in diameter where the leather is doubled and a few spots along the corners on the inside where it is bare. There is evidence of a strap that went across the top that is now missing. The carrying strap is missing an end and the stitching has come a loose on its edges. There are metal bars on the top four corners, two flat hinges and ... morewhat looks like a pin hinge in the center of the two hinges along the back side. There are two latches on either side and a key latch in the middle on the front, which I do not have the key for, so I did not test it. The hinges, latches, strap holders and rivets are metal and show wear, rust and have normal discoloration from iage. On the inside there is a cloth lining that shows wear, some staining/yellowing with age and is coming loose in a couple of spots. An amazing vintage piece ideal for storage and display. Not sure why. Most of what you see in the photos is dust, cob webs& dirt I feel could be cleaned off. Antique Trunk Wood Covered In Leather 1800's Metal Trim *Will Travel For Pickup*
Beautiful antique trunk. I had someone online look at pictures and he estimated it was from about 1890. The research I have done myself leads me to believe it was made between 1870-1890. It is made of wood and covered in leather. I believe that it's pine but I could be wrong. There are metal bands across the top and around the edges. Please see pictures this truck is old and has plenty of bumps and bruises. The leather handle straps are missing and there are several patches of leather missing on the top and front. There is also a crack in the lid. It definitely needs some TLC but is still beautiful and has tons of rustic charm. There is paper lining the inside that is torn and has some spots. This would be a great trunk to restore exactly how you want or to leave as is and embrace its natural charm! It measures 28" long 17" ... moretall and 16" wide. Feel free to ask any questions. Hi. Thanks for visiting. I'm selling my antique steamer trunk because of the fact that we're downsizing our living situation. Otherwise, I would certainly hang on to it- it is really a nice piece. I acquired this at a local antique store about ten years ago and have kept it on display ever since. It is made mostly of wood. With some metal rivets and leather straps. I'm not sure when it was constructed, but it is definitely of significant age. It measures approximately 34" long by 21" wide by 24" tall. The trunk is obviously old. So it isn't in perfect condition. One of the metal buckles has come loose from one of the leather straps, for instance. Antique Vintage Chest Steamer Trunk Leather *Local Pick-up ONLY!
I am not sure how old this trunk is. It is in very rough condition. Please see pics for your own judgment on condition. Some rails inside are missing and or broken off that I believe was for an inside tray. The two side leather handles are worn off. There are still leather loops around the trunk that I think the straps would have gone through to secure but the actual straps are gone as well. There is no key. There are 3 shipping stickers from address destinations still intact for the most part but are very difficult to read. 2 of them are from"American Railway Express" and the other says"Dominion Express. The outside of the trunk has a canvas like texture to it and may have been partially painted brown at some point. The trunk itself is real wood construction. From the inside the top of the lid has a paper type covering but ... moreis peeling and you can see the wood planks through it. The trunk has the traditional metal corners and trim work. I will say that the latches and center lock are pretty cool looking. The top is a little different than most of the trunks I have researched. I usually see a flat top or dramatic dome/curved top. This trunk has a slight curve to it that you can view from the side pics. Lastly. The pictures make the trunk look lighter because of the camera's flash than in person. It is a bit darker live.
