Antique Trunk / Chest 30x18x20 Inches
I wish I knew more about this trunk. But I simply don't know anything about antiques. I purchased this at an impressive antique shop(south of Pittsburgh) for more than what I am listing it for. Sorry about the poor lighting in the pictures. I included the dimensions in the description. It is obviously"distressed" But other than that, very structurally sound. The only knock I could put on it is that there is a"slight fracture" in the top. It is slight though. If you look in the 3rd picture, there is a line that runs across the top from left to right. It is very fine and hasn't caused me any problems. It came like this and my original thought was to put my 60+ pound plasma TV on top of the chest. I am 100% confident it could hold that weight and there would be no problem or further fracturing. But over time, I'm ... moresure it wouldn't be good for the piece itself, so I never tried. I hope that is a good enough description. Just want you to know its there and that it didn't deter me from making the purchase. This is a beautiful chest. I charged $50 for shipping as I'm not 100% how much it will cost to ship. As i have done before. The two side latches work properly and the center lock is a bit stiff and may not work. There is some writing undermeath the center lock that is hard to read but it looks like it says"Patented 1867, reissued Aug. and we cant't seem to make out the rest. We believe this is from the late 1800's to early 1900's but are unsure of the actual age. There is some very nice ornate designs on the riveted corners and the black metal on the tops and sides. There is some damaged wood and some damage to the metal on one corner, also some rust on the back hinges. The inside has some cracking in the wood but is still in good shape. This is a fantastic vintage cedar-lined brass trunk with wooden feet. It stands 18" high. Measurements of the trunk without feet are 30.5" x 16" x 16" The lock is no longer operational and stays closed with a magnet for convenience of use. It is heavy. Strong, sturdy and very usable. This is in used-vintage condition. The brass shows wear and use with scratches and tiny dings. Mostly concentrated on the top. Antique 28" Long Wooden Box, Storage Tool Box, Pull Handles - Lid Lifts Up NICE
This is an antique storage box. I purchased it at an estate sale. There were wheels on the bottom. But they were broken, so I took them off. My guess is that this piece was a storage box for beneath a bed and then the wheels made it easy to pull it out. The measurements are as follows: 28" L x 19" W x 9" H Lid that lifts measures: 28" L x 15" D Interior measurements: 25 1/4" L x 16 3/8" W x 7 1/4" D The pull handles are tight. The hinges are tight and the lid is secure to the hinges. Weighs 26 pounds. Finish is original. I believe. It is stained a very dark walnut. I believe the wood is pine. There are dents and wear marks on this piece. Being sold as is. Please review the photos to see the wears marks everywhere. Up for auction is a nice condition antique steamer trunk with a built in quilted compartment. Solid wood with metal and leather hardware. This is a sharp. Interesting piece to accent any room. Quilted blue floral print inside of trunk with thick lace detail around the edges. The inside top compartment is also covered in the fabric. Very nice condition. Wood color is absolutely beautiful. Gold decorated trunk- Sleeping Buddha?/temple/horse drawn carriage/ more
This wooden trunk has carved figures on it- I do not see any attachment- it looks like they were carved into the wood itself. There are various scenes on the front and both ends. It sees to show a sleeping Buddha inside a temple on the front with some horses and figures. One end has a Buddha figure in a carriage being pulled by a horse with a row of figures walking in front of the horse. It also has a temple over the carriage and rows of other figures on this end also. The other end has a cup carved under the handle with a Buddha figure in the cup and floating figures all around this central image. The inside is red. The top and back are not decorated. approximate measurements: 16" x 26" 16" It weights almost 50 lbs. This shows about $100.00 in postage to ship this in a box via the U.S. Post Office. I am liquidating an estate and there are many dolls coming up for sale. Check all my auctions as I'm happy to combine shipping. Here is a very old vintage doll trunk; made just like Mom's! Big size ~ 18" tall. Almost 11" across, and 9" deep. This trunk opens up so you can hang the clothes and put accessories in both the top bin(can open that all the way up too ~ see pics) and the bottom drawer. There are great travel stickers all over this trunk like Swooping across the Atlantic on the SS Col. Lindbergh; Down the Nile to Silent Father of Mystery S. S. Alexandria and many more. All the necessary items are in place on this trunk such as the top handle to carry it with. The inside drawers even have their knobs, the key is tied to the outside, the metal hanging rod is in place, All decorative metal corners are in place, ... moreetc. There are some age conditions such as some of the paper being worn on the trunk, the bottom drawer has some tape on it and there is some minor staining throughout as you would expect for a piece from the early 1900's. Completely covered in leather, it's a fascinating piece with a heavily embossed design on all five of the outer surfaces. The bottom and insides are leather too, but not embossed. This trunk also has a leather latch, but the hasp appears to have been removed from the trunk. On each end, there are leather handles that are quite sturdy and would be able to lift this trunk with a good deal of weight in it. The top/lid is curved like a treasure chest. Up for sale is a wonderful vintage metal Suitcase/ Trunk with old type advertisements like out of a old sears catalogue. It measures 16 1/4" wide by 12 1/4" tall by 6 1/4" thick without the handle. it has old style advertisements like old singer sewing machine adds. Old bicycles, watches, Old pump organs ETC. Its a great trunk to put in a window on display, it really has that old school look. Measures 18"x18"x12" This art deco luggage is a green colored tweed design. Probably Fabrikoid covering over a hard shell with chrome accents and is enhanced with beautiful blue linings. There is a number D4 on the front latches along with the eagle or phoenix logo. The hinges and latches are all in good working condition. There is NO key, sorry. The elastic pocket on the inside is very taunt. The outside has some white scuff marks, not bad though. The inside liner has just a couple light stains. beautiful dowry chest inlaid panels - from india
up for auction today is a beautiful dowry chest I picked up in bombay india in 1986/87 I have no idea when it was originally made. the panels which depict scenes from the classic poetry of omar khayyam(I believe) are not painted. they are different inlaid woods( teak mohgany sandalwood ebony and ivory with india ink for accents. the locks are gone. The story I got when I bought it was: it belonged to the daughter of a rich man and she unfortunately died no one knew where the keys were so they popped the locks off. It was a gift to my aunt who treasured it. When she died 15 years ago it came back into my possession. I know the ivory is legal because the ban on ivory didn't start till 1989.this is truly a work of art, whoever wins this must insure it and I will consider building a plywood shipping case for it. I want this to go to someone ... morewho can appreciate it for what it is. there are 2 faults with it. 1) the velvet liner in the top section has become detached rather than just stapling it or regluing it I figured a collector will know the correct repair. 2) one of the trim rosetes( are missing from one corner as it was when I bought it. check pictures well the papers with it are the flyers from the bombay store that sold it to me. any questions don't hesitate to ask I will do my best. sincerely thank you and good luck Tony P.S. size is approximately 19 x 12 x 15. 1888 victorian style streamer dome back trnck
This 1888 Victorian style streamer trunk is in great condition. The sheet metal is free of rust and the wood looks great. The hinges are good and tight and the door shuts down nice and snug. The latching and locking mechanism work just fine and the key goes with it. The only thing wrong on the outside is one of the leather side handles is missing. The inside is also in very good condition for its age. It has a picture of a man and two oxens on the inside of the lid. Also a trey that goes in and out. The only thing I see wrong on the inside is some small rips in the paper below the bottom of the picture. Handcrafted Pine Wood Storage Trunk - Coffee Table - Accent Piece
This listing is for a handcrafted pine trunk which was purchased at a local estate sale. Measurements: 26 inches in length- 12 inches in width- 13 inches in height. There is a hinge in the middle of the inside of the lid which prevents the lid from slamming down. The closure has an opening in it which enables you to put a lock on it. There are some scratches. Rings etc on the top which you may wish to refinish. This is a heavy and sturdy piece. It could even be used as a coffee table while storing stuff inside. Due to the weight and size.
