For your consideration is this primitive antique wood Child's or Doll Trunk. Rounded top. The inside is covered with litho paper designs, very nice, with compartments. Unfortunately, some previous owner covered the outside with thick gold gilt paint, peeling off. Other flaws include: the leather straps are dry and split in two, appears to be missing hinges in the back. I think the wood is walnut, not positive. The trunk measures about 8 1/2" tall, and 12" by 8"

EXAMPLE OF STAGECOACH/JENNY LIND With Measurements: 29"w x 13.5"h x 16 1/4"d Stagecoach Trunks Including The Jenny Lind's 1840-1875 This era of trunks saw the replacement of the leather trim with metal banding and the hide coverings replaced by things such as oil cloth. A tanned and often highly tooled or inked leather. And toward the later part of the era, paper on occasion. During this time, the size of the buttons. Often brass covered, became larger although not all trunks had them. Generally, trunks of this type were still on the smaller size to carry a few belongings for an individual person as space was limited during travel. The Jenny Lind trunk was born in this time in the early 1850's. It has a distinctive shape like no other trunk being ... moresimilar to an old keyhole or bread loaf shape(there are two variations) when viewed from the side. The style became popular in America when the famous singer Jenny Lind toured the country under contract by P.T. Barnum. Jenny Lind brought her trunk over from Europe(do not know who made the first one) and everyone here wanted one. It is a very attractive trunk with metal banding that is on occasion brass wrapped and the banding is held in place by large brass buttons. The Jenny Lind's are really a unique style of their own but I have listed then under the stagecoach trunks as that is really what they were and their general size being consistent with other trunks of this era. This trunk is in good condition. Obviously it will show wear marks from age. Some wear and cracks to wood. Forged handles. Rivets and initials"M.O. on top. Brown wood with black bands. Let me begin by saying I do not know a lot about this trunk and I am no expert. I cannot find another one exactly like it online. From information I have gathered I believe it is a camel back trunk from the 1870s or 1880s. Several pieces of the hardware on the trunk have"Patent mar 16" on them. Dimensions: Length 32" 18" wide, 21" tall, 14" deep The trunk is made of metal and wood. The leather handle/strap on the left side of the trunk has been broken off and is MIA. The latch on the front is intact. But it won't latch and the key is also MIA, presumably with the leather handle. Maybe they are lying on a beach somewhere together. Antique trunk with ornate design, wood & metal, p/u only near B'ham, WA
This is a beautiful trunk that is 38" wide. A depth of 21" and a height at the peak of 26" The metalwork is quite beautiful contrasted with the wood. Inside is a tray that lifts out or tips up. The inside is quite simple. Wonderful storage piece. The handles on the sides are missing, as is the claps in the front. The hinges for the lid are in very good working condition which means this is a very functional storage unit. I am not at all sure what the age is. I bought it as part of an entire household. The most recent owner did not smoke. And I know he owned it about the past 3-4 years, having purchased it locally. Local pick up only. I live in Nooksack. WA(Whatcom County) near Bellingham, but closer to the Canadian border in the northwest part of the state.

This is an antique trunk that I purchased over 12 years ago from an antique dealer in CT. It has raised metal sides. I believe they are tin. The inside has worn fabric and a hidden trap door. It is a really cool and if I had room I wouldn't part with it. I used it as a coffee table. The measurements are approximately 30 1/2" long X 17 1/2" wide X 20" high. Up for auction is a nice condition antique steamer trunk with a built in quilted compartment. Solid wood with metal and leather hardware. This is a sharp. Interesting piece to accent any room. Large Asian / Chinese Carved Wood Chest or Trunk BEAUTIFUL STORAGE Bird Motif
This is a rather large and elaborately carved Asian/ Chinese wood chest with a brass handle latch. I am not certain but I believe it is camphor wood. The pheasant/ bird motif is exquisitely carved on all five sides of the chest. The measurements are as follows: 39.25” Wide x 20” Tall x 19” Deep. I do not know how old it is or where it originally came from but this beautiful storage/ decorative trunk is in excellent shape except for the worn/ mildly damaged corner on the left front. This is an absolutely gorgeous antique steamer trunk. As you can see in the photos the wood really accentuates the black color. The wood is beautiful. Much of the leather remains although both side straps have rotted away which is very common in a trunk of this age. The metal accents. Rivets and corner pieces are very ornate. In it's day this was a very expensive trunk. One hing on the back is in need of slight repair. Warren Leather Goods Co. Small Vintage Black Leather and Wood Trunk
Small Vintage Black Leather and Wood Trunk. I believe it is real leather/cow hide. It has a tag in almost immaculate condition on the inside of the lid that says Warren Leather Goods Co. Worcester Mass. The outside is black. The leather is not tight to the wood and slightly wavy in some spots. There is some blotchiness, evidence of stickers and wear to the finish. There is a"T" inside of a diamond painted on in red on both sides of the trunk. It has only a few wear holes on the edges that are 1" in diameter where the leather is doubled and a few spots along the corners on the inside where it is bare. There is evidence of a strap that went across the top that is now missing. The carrying strap is missing an end and the stitching has come a loose on its edges. There are metal bars on the top four corners, two flat hinges and ... morewhat looks like a pin hinge in the center of the two hinges along the back side. There are two latches on either side and a key latch in the middle on the front, which I do not have the key for, so I did not test it. The hinges, latches, strap holders and rivets are metal and show wear, rust and have normal discoloration from iage. On the inside there is a cloth lining that shows wear, some staining/yellowing with age and is coming loose in a couple of spots. An amazing vintage piece ideal for storage and display. Antique steamer trunk Hump back Dome lid child size chest Tin wood or cardboard
This is bigger than a doll trunk I think. But smaller than an adult size, so I think it was probably for a child to use while traveling or for storage. 20" wide, 12 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" deep. I think it has a this layer of tin with a faux wood grain patter on it and that is either over cardboard or wood. The chest is not super heavy, about 9 1/2 pounds, so it is probably a combination of both materials. Please use the pictures to determine condition. You can tell this was used and it is showing its age. One side has the remnants of what looks like was a leather handle, but the other side does not even have the metal parts of that handle. There are some rivets missing, one of the latches on the front side is missing parts and none of the three seems functional. One of the hinges on the back side is painted green. The tin covering ... moreis scuffed and dented. Still, overall condition for its age, is not really that bad. The lid opens and closes easily and the whole trunk is still solid, not wobbly. I don't have a tray or a key for this one.

Antique Dome Top Child ~ Doll ~ Toy Trunk, Wood Storage Chest, 26x15x14
We believe this dome top trunk to be an antique. And based on it's smaller size possibly a child's trunk or toy trunk. There is no longer a label on the trunk but the inside lid has a print of a bird(see photo) feeding her chicks. The trunk is done with an interesting combination of dark brown and ivory. It looks like the ivory was painted on but probably a good while ago since there is quite a bit of rust and discoloration coming through the paint. The dark brown areas look like tin or some thin metal that has been embossed with the scrolled pattern. The interior still has quite a bit of paper inside but the paper lining is not in good condition. There is a loose bracket on one side that should probably be fixed if the trunk is going to be opened regularly. There are two latches on the front that are still intact. The lock in the ... morecenter is missing the bottom section(the piece mounted on the bottom of the trunk) The trunk could be used"as is" for a primitive decorative piece. Very unusual domed Trunk Treasure Chest that sits on its own metal stand that has paw feet The trunk can remove from stand as shown and be used separately The basic chest is constructed of wood that has been painted however the front and top are encased in sheets of embossed metal. Pictures of angels in a garden setting on each side of the top bands of studded strapping decorate the top of the piece. This is really an amazing old wagon box-trunk. Circa mid 1800s built. Wood Dowel-Dovetail-Square Nail Construction with iron bands. Original rope handles. Skeleton key lock(NO KEY) Measures 30' Long x 14' Wide x 10' Deep. Condition: There is 2 areas were metal banding is missing as pictured in the front of the box. There is a piece missing at outer edge bottom board( see boxes bottom picture) so the bottom boards are a little loose but held in place by the metal banding. Boards could be fastened with small nails to be more secure but will leave that up to the new owner. This box is really gorgeous and would be a great show piece in any room. I do not know much about this trunk. On most of the top iron decals. In very small risen print, it says"Pat. MAR 1880" I believe this to be the year it was made. I don't know who manufactured it.
