Frémin(fl.1820-1860) A student of who is best known for his mid 19th century atlas collaborations with Charles Monin. Frémin issued a series of Biblical-themed maps in the 1820s including this example that were eventually published as Atlas de 37 Gravures Bibliques dont 12 Cartes Géographiques and the plates also appeared in several other works well into the 1850s. Frémin presents t his example of historical cartography with scholarly notations for the various tribal peoples under the empire which is estimated ... moreto have held sway over some 7.5 million square km and some 50 million inhabitants- nearly half the planet's population at the time.
