Sinai and the desert as well as the Red Sea. The cities Jerusalem, Hebron, Pharbetis, Memphis, mitsraim, Rameses, Ruben and Siochem can be spotted. The map is decorated with a splendid title cartouche and many scenes of the Exodus and Moses receiving the Ten Commandments. Verso a Dutch text is given. This is a plate from the Royal Visscher Bible as published in 1648. This bible was a collection that showed all the major events from the old and new testament. The double folio plates(50 by 40 cm) were assembled by Visscher who bought the old existing copperplates from other publishers and added his own plates to fill in the several lacks.
