Nice small Japanese hand Planed Chest / Altar with 3 drawers above two doors
A very nice small oriental cabinet. Altar, chest made of softwood(pine? with pieces of figured hard wood(elm? on the front. The surfaces are hand planed and pegged. This piece is on nicely carved legs supporting a cabinet with three pegged drawers on top above two doors with butterfly like hinges(note 1 drop is missing from the left drawer-see photo) Top has scrolled ends. Front joints reinforced with original metal fittings. This pieces functions well on a table, on the floor, or in a special niche, It measures 24 1/2 inches high by 34 1/2 inches long by 12 inches deep. Left side and back have an age split. Antique Old Vintage Wooden Steamer Trunk Traveling Storage Chest Leather Rivets!
Hi. Thanks for visiting. I'm selling my antique steamer trunk because of the fact that we're downsizing our living situation. Otherwise, I would certainly hang on to it- it is really a nice piece. I acquired this at a local antique store about ten years ago and have kept it on display ever since. It is made mostly of wood. With some metal rivets and leather straps. I'm not sure when it was constructed, but it is definitely of significant age. It measures approximately 34" long by 21" wide by 24" tall. The trunk is obviously old. So it isn't in perfect condition. One of the metal buckles has come loose from one of the leather straps, for instance. The carving are of sail ships on a river i believe, could be the Yangtze or Yangzi river known in China. Offered is Antique Bombay Chest that is in a Louis XV Baroque style made of Beautiful Inlaid Wood with fabulous Bronze decorations. The Chest has beautiful bronze legs and corner decoration. This piece is in the original condition. We have owned it since mid 1990's. The green marble top is set on top and there are no cracks. Chips, or scratches on it. Antique Vintage Chest Steamer Trunk Leather *Local Pick-up ONLY!
I am not sure how old this trunk is. It is in very rough condition. Please see pics for your own judgment on condition. Some rails inside are missing and or broken off that I believe was for an inside tray. The two side leather handles are worn off. There are still leather loops around the trunk that I think the straps would have gone through to secure but the actual straps are gone as well. There is no key. There are 3 shipping stickers from address destinations still intact for the most part but are very difficult to read. 2 of them are from"American Railway Express" and the other says"Dominion Express. The outside of the trunk has a canvas like texture to it and may have been partially painted brown at some point. The trunk itself is real wood construction. From the inside the top of the lid has a paper type covering but ... moreis peeling and you can see the wood planks through it. The trunk has the traditional metal corners and trim work. I will say that the latches and center lock are pretty cool looking. The top is a little different than most of the trunks I have researched. I usually see a flat top or dramatic dome/curved top. This trunk has a slight curve to it that you can view from the side pics. Lastly. The pictures make the trunk look lighter because of the camera's flash than in person. It is a bit darker live. Antique Camelback Steamer Trunk Dome Top Tin Storage Toys Treasure Chest
This is a gorgeous antique camelback steamer trunk. It measures 33.5" x 19" And the dome reaches 20 3/4 inches tall. It has curved wood pieces with tin fittings, and it has wheels underneath. One of the side latches works perfectly, and the one on the left will fit closed but will not stay closed. I have not tried to close the main latch in the middle because I do not have a key. Note the older style slightly rectangular nailheads. Inside you can see some bare wood in places. But much of it is still covered by the original paper. You can also see two stickers that say Uncle Sam US Army standard 10 1/2. I have no idea what that refers to or their date. Just to the right of the right sticker, you can barely see the remains of the original sticker that was in the trunk. There is only a very, very slightly musty odor. The original handles ... moreare gone. The top opens and closes very smoothly and straight down. Local pick up only. If you want to arrange shipping with a shipper on your own. antique cedar chest Forest Line by ER
This vintage ER Co Forest Park Line cedar chest belonged to my mother-in-law. We have housed it in our non smoking home for about the last 25 years. Now it is time to give it a new home. The chest works wonderfully for what it is, a place to store items, but could use some cosmetic clean up. We are NOT charging full price as shown for similar items due to the scratches. There is one foot that has slight damage. Unfortunately, we did not dust it before the photo. Similar chests are shown at $425, but we are asking for a smaller price. VINTAGE MURPHY CEDAR CHEST– NEEDS WORK This item is pre-owned. The chest has been used for decades to store linens. It needs work. The lid is split lengthwise. There is a remnant of a sticker attached. See pictures. It can be glued back together and filled or replaced. The rest of the chest is solid with cosmetic damage(small chips and scratches from use that can be seen on the front and side boards) The interior is clean and still has that distinct cedar aroma. Antique? Vintage? Black forest? Large Carved Wood Trunk Chest
Not sure of age or origin of this truck. But looks too be pretty old. Close look at carvings and some imperfections can bee seen, so i believe hand carved. Looks too have been painted an off white and then a dark stain over it in the past. Quite a few nicks and scuffs reveal this history of paint and stain. Back has a split and a piece missing from a previous repair. Some screws on the hinges look too be old flat heads and some are newer phillips heads. Has oblong round ball legs. Lid does not completely close, has a quarter inch gap in front, maybe from warping from age. Inside has removable tray insert. Wood has a strong, but pleasant smell almost like cedar, but not sure what type of wood it is. Trunk measures 30 inches wide, 18 1/2 inches tall, 16 inches deep. Please study pics too see imperfections in the piece. Could use a good cleaning ... moreand some stain touch ups. Trunk is very heavy and large, and i will keep at local pick up. Hand Made Old English Chest. Carving on right corner dating back to 1600's Needs some work. Was professionally appraised. Detail of his report is posted here. Sold as is. Buyer arrange pick up. This is a completely pleasing old coffer chest. Most of it is early 17th century. It is almost certainly English, Jacobean period(Charles I) Coffers were richly ornamented chests. The interior accessed through the lid, strongly made and with concealed hinges, and used for storing valuables. The carving is a mixture of'gouged' and'modeled' ornament. Very typical of the period. For instance the lunette pattern along the top rail(above the doors) is an example of gouged carving and the vertical fern pattern up the stiles(the corner posts) is an example of modeled carving. As is the carving on the doors themselves. I t has the original ... moreowner's monogram and date. Top left are the initials"ANB" and top right the date. 163? which conforms nicely with the period of the decoration. The reason the last number is missing is that the sides were once paneled and the facing edge of the paneling abutted the stiles at the front and would have provided a space for the last letter and completed the edge of the rising fern pattern to match. T he top is original. You can see the individual adz marks in the wood on the underside. It looks like it was hand hewn from a single balk of timber. Originally. It would not have had cupboard doors, just two fixed panels. The molding along the bottom is a later addition. As are the bun feet. On the inside. The t ill is missing but one can se e the rebates where it once was. Th e hardware is no doubt original- ironwork made by the local blacksmith. The top is certainly oak. Usually these coffers are all oak but beech. Lime, elm, chestnut, maple and ash were also used. The color of the rest seems to be too amber-colored to be oak. But then no stains were ever used back then, the wood being treated simply with oil and polished with beeswax. The graining does look like oak.

Antique Trunk. Measures 16" wide. 10" deep, 11" high. Wood trunk with metal embossed skin. Barrel top with wood slats. Metal corner protectors. This trunk was probably either a steamer travel trunk. Or a childs toy trunk, I do not know for sure it's purpose. The latches are missing the top half, and the lock is missing the latch, so the trunk can't be latched. The hinges are in great shape and the trunk opens and closes easily. The leather handle straps are gone. The interior appears to be the original except it looks like the inside top was replaced with a pirate chest themed paper. All in all it's a beautiful antique trunk. It needs the veneer to be redone and some of the wood has splits in it.The inside of the chest is cedar lined and so is the drawer as well.I do believe that you can put rollers on the bottom as there are holes in the legs and I think that is what I was told when I bough it. The chest list has a push button to open. I have had it sitting and used it for storage but the garage needs to be cleaned up. This miniature wooden chest was purchased in Paris France in the early 50's at a famous Paris flea market. I know the owner and she chose this as a little girl on her trip to Europe) This is handmade. Vintage. Cedar Trunk, Gray, Skeleton Key, Coffee Table, Storage, Shabby, Chest
Beautifully refinished. Chalk painted in a warm. Light gray, distressed, and clear waxed. Chest is in excellent, vintage condition. Very solid and sturdy. Wooden handles adorn each end, with a locking lid and original skeleton key. Metal bands with raised knobs are the perfect accents going down the top and sides of the chest. Plenty of storage inside this cedar chest. Manufactured by Universal Cabinet Company in Chicago, Illinois I have painted hundreds of pieces of furniture and sold them locally off line. I have never had a disappointed customer. Buyer is responsible for frieght shipping, including all packaging and insurance. This can be arranged by either you or me. Local pick up is also available. Chest measures 40" x 17" on top and is 16" tall.
