Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. Antique Trunk / Chest 30x18x20 Inches
I wish I knew more about this trunk. But I simply don't know anything about antiques. I purchased this at an impressive antique shop(south of Pittsburgh) for more than what I am listing it for. Sorry about the poor lighting in the pictures. I included the dimensions in the description. It is obviously"distressed" But other than that, very structurally sound. The only knock I could put on it is that there is a"slight fracture" in the top. It is slight though. If you look in the 3rd picture, there is a line that runs across the top from left to right. It is very fine and hasn't caused me any problems. It came like this and my original thought was to put my 60+ pound plasma TV on top of the chest. I am 100% confident it could hold that weight and there would be no problem or further fracturing. But over time, I'm ... moresure it wouldn't be good for the piece itself, so I never tried. I hope that is a good enough description. Just want you to know its there and that it didn't deter me from making the purchase. This is a beautiful chest. This is a fantastic vintage cedar-lined brass trunk with wooden feet. It stands 18" high. Measurements of the trunk without feet are 30.5" x 16" x 16" The lock is no longer operational and stays closed with a magnet for convenience of use. It is heavy. Strong, sturdy and very usable. This is in used-vintage condition. The brass shows wear and use with scratches and tiny dings. Mostly concentrated on the top. The top looks to have been heavily used, but this adds to its vintage charm. The lock, metal handles and wooden feet also show wear. Overall, this is a great, hard to find vintage piece! Purchased at an estate sale. The origin and age of this unique antique trunk is unknown. Completely covered in leather, it's a fascinating piece with a heavily embossed design on all five of the outer surfaces. The bottom and insides are leather too, but not embossed. This trunk also has a leather latch, but the hasp appears to have been removed from the trunk. On each end, there are leather handles that are quite sturdy and would be able to lift this trunk with a good deal of weight in it. The top/lid is curved like a treasure chest. beautiful dowry chest inlaid panels - from india
up for auction today is a beautiful dowry chest I picked up in bombay india in 1986/87 I have no idea when it was originally made. the panels which depict scenes from the classic poetry of omar khayyam(I believe) are not painted. they are different inlaid woods( teak mohgany sandalwood ebony and ivory with india ink for accents. the locks are gone. The story I got when I bought it was: it belonged to the daughter of a rich man and she unfortunately died no one knew where the keys were so they popped the locks off. It was a gift to my aunt who treasured it. When she died 15 years ago it came back into my possession. I know the ivory is legal because the ban on ivory didn't start till 1989.this is truly a work of art, whoever wins this must insure it and I will consider building a plywood shipping case for it. Antique ornately carved blanket chest.
Here is a great old small carved blanket chest. It is quite unusual in design and I have never seen one like it. And I doubt if the reader has either! Please see all the pictures! It measures 32"W x 20 1/8"D x 32 1/2"W. The inside dimensions are 28" W x 16"D x 8"H. There are normal signs of antique wear and there is an age crack across the decorative back panel. There is also an age crack that runs across the lift up door. There is a ring to pull open the top. But it is loose and needs to be glued in. I am sorry I am not sure what type of wood this is made of, but its a fairly heavy hardwood. This chest has been painstakingly carved by a craftsman. I am not sure of its exact age, but I do know its old and originated somewhere in the western U.S. I know this because 25 years ago I paid to have it shipped here ... moreto the east coast} and the original owner had it for many many years before that. Large Asian / Chinese Carved Wood Chest or Trunk BEAUTIFUL STORAGE Bird Motif
This is a rather large and elaborately carved Asian/ Chinese wood chest with a brass handle latch. I am not certain but I believe it is camphor wood. The pheasant/ bird motif is exquisitely carved on all five sides of the chest. The measurements are as follows: 39.25” Wide x 20” Tall x 19” Deep. I do not know how old it is or where it originally came from but this beautiful storage/ decorative trunk is in excellent shape except for the worn/ mildly damaged corner on the left front. Antique Scandinavian Rosemaling Hand Painted Large Sized Legged Chest/Trunk
Up for sale is a beautiful large sized Scandinavian hand painted rosemaling chest that I had sent over by container to the States. I am not sure about the year of this chest but it has a lot of patina and is one of a kind. This chest measures 32" tall. 49" long and 26" deep. There is one wooden bar inside the side of the chest to hold the top open with four small legs each measuring 2" tall.The outside is painted in a maroon color with floral designs in blues and greens. The backside of the trunk is painted in a light blue color as shown in the picture. This would be a lovely storage chest for blankets or clothing. There is definite wear on the outside and inside of this chest that I think only adds to its great patina. I will be happy to ship this chest if need be and will research the best rates. Fantastic Large Antique Black Steamer Trunk Chest
Nice. Heavy black/very dark brown antique steamer trunk. The front lock and both side latches are present. Often the front center mechanisms are missing. Gorgeous metal accents and rivet work. Much of the leather strapping has rotted away which is very normal for these trunks that did most of their travel in the damp bottoms of large ships. The initials JEM has been placed on the side. There is a small dent on the top and water damage to the lining only on the inside as you can see in the photos. PERFECT for an end or coffee table with the flat top, as a restoration project or a blanket chest. Measures 24.5" High, 38" Wide and 22" Deep.

I have tried to show with the paper arrow some area's of damage, a piece of trim missing, a small corner piece chipped off, the middle Face Foot is loose. It is approx 67-1/4" Long by 26-1/2" Tall and 21" back. This one has a key that works in the old lock however on the top lid the catch needs repair for it to work. Japanese Kimono Chest
Beautifully finished Japanese kimono chest with 17 different drawers. Many with locks. Measurements are 70" wide by 67" tall by 17" deep. There are three main sections with a base frame. There are also two keys for the locking drawers. Behind one set of doors are two additional drawers.

Nice Solid Wood Cedar Chest - Lite TLC
Nice used cedar chest. In pretty good condition. It measures 39" long. 18 1/2" deep, and 19" high. Please see all photos. Has some minor scratches on top and dings. Has lock, but no key. Inside: no stains or odors. Mostly stored clothes and/or papers in it. Hinges are good. Opens and closes good. Two pieces of the molding are missing on front. see photos) Would make a good project for someone to restore. Not sure what type of wood it is, but all solid. Can not ship. Local pickup only. Sorry.
