This is ... morea rare. Brass oil lantern manufactured in the early 1900's for use in finer staterooms. It is an absolutely beautiful antique in great condition. There are two small cracks(you can see them in the last two pictures) around the base of the lantern. Most likely caused by age. Also I had a hard time screwing together the lantern and the piece that connects to the wall. I think it could be easily replaced with another bolt. And it might even go together if it is forced. I was trying to be careful when I was putting it together. See the third to last picture to know the piece I am talking about. This lamp was manufactured by C. Gray Ship Chandlers Established 1882 Arbroyath. Scotland. You can see that information on the brass nameplate(see picture above) This lamp used to belong to my aunt’s great uncle and he bought it many many years ago in San Francisco. The lamp is very heavy! The burners are original with a double wick. The knobs are stamped"Duplex Made in England" It appears to be original and in working condition. The wick knobs turn. I have not attempted to put fuel in the lamp or light it. Because I do not know how and I do not want to mess it up! The lamps have not been polished because I wanted to keep it in its current condition and I liked the way they look! The clear glass chimney is in perfect condition. As you can see in the picture the green shade does not fit around the holder(it fits there just fine. But it does not go to the edge of the metal rim) so I do not know if it is just made that way or this is not the original shade. Either way it looks beautiful. I just want to make sure you can see that in the picture and you are given the best description possible! Vintage Caged Brass Nautical Oil Lantern
Vintage nautical oil lantern. It has a really cool cage that covers the entire outside of the lantern to protect the glass. There is a wooden handle and the oil container and wick assembly was made by Wedge. It has not been polished or cleaned up at all since I bought it so all the patina is still on it. It is about a foot tall and 4" wide. It has some good weight to it and is a nice vintage piece that could also easily be converted to electric if desired. Please contact me with any questions. This is a very nice antique/vintage ship's candle holder with a swinging gimbal mount so that the candle stays level when hung on the wall(pic#1&2) or sitting on a desk. I can't date it exactly. But we bought it from an antique store in NH over 30 yrs. ago. The overall length is about 7 3/4" and it will hold a candle up to about 1 3/4" There is a small depression/dent on the bottom(pic#7&8) and it is tarnished(we have never polished it, but appreciated the patina) Please examine the pictures carefully and if you have questions. Here is a beautiful. Nicely patinaed, oil lamp, made by Weem's& Platt. This lantern is numbered, early make, and came off a 68' Coranado sailboat that has sailed over seas and back many times. It's in excellent shape and can be polished if need be, however I don't suggest it. It comes with a gimbal mount for leveling the lamp while boating. It can also be mounted on the wall in your home and would look awesome! The lantern itself is selling for $200-250. The gimbal alone is $70-$90. Here it is, w/ a real cheap starting bid. Good luck!

Antique Brass Nautical Marine Maritime Launch Lantern w/ Rare Vent Design
This early lantern is about 8 ¼ in. high. 7 in. wide, and 4 3/4 in deep. The vent has a design similar to an early automobile style lights. A vintage burner is included. The brass is in good condition with normal signs of use and some additional holes near the vents(see photos) The lenses are good with no cracks, just some small scratches on the surface. This uncommon design would make a great addition to your collection. I am selling with no reserve and guarantee it to be old and as described. Vintage Brass Marine Lantern Nautical Cargo Light Lamp England
This Vintage Brass Marine Lantern is marked English Made on the wick adjuster. It measures 16 1/2 by 7 3/4 inches. It is hand crafted with rivets and solder. The work shows very good quality. It is in very good condtion with a couple of very small hard to find dents. The top and the globe unscrew to fill the tank. They are stuck with old fuel varnish and I do not intend to forcefully remove them. The wick moves up and down when the wheel is turned. The glass plates and globe are very good. The first thing we did was to remove all the paint and give the light a very nice polish job. From there we fitted all the original conduit holes with a threaded plug and drilled a new hole on the top of the light so the new wiring con exit the light and be completely hidden. We also added that cool looking copper deflector cover to improve the looks of the light when mounted to the ... moreceiling. All the old wiring was removed and all new wiring and a new bulb holder made by Westinghouse Electric has been installed. The wiring and bulb holder is UL-Listed and rated to work with any voltage under 250 volts. The new bulb holder takes a common screw in house bulb of 75 watts or less. When mounted to the ceiling. This light will extend down about 8 inches. To access the bulb area, you just spin off the cage, and then spin off the undamaged glass globe. The base of the light is about 4 1/2 inches wide and the two mount hole lugs are 5 inches on center of each other. This light weighs right at 6 pounds. Overview This listing is for a pair of amazing vintage brass ship lamps with plaques engraved"Star of India. The lamps have a front door that you can unclasp and swing right open when you need to change the bulbs. Behind the bulbs is a circular reflector to augment the light. The glass has rectangular lattice and beside the plaques are beautiful spiral reliefs. Operation These lamps run on electricity and you can view the innards in picture 7. The wires go through the hole in the back and connect right to the wall. The lamps switch on and off via a spinning dial on the bottom right. Dimensions and Condition The actual lamps measure 11.5 inches tall. 8.5 inches wide, and 5 inches deep. The stacks on the top add another 5 inches in height. I would say that they are roughly 7 lbs. each. They are in very fine condition. One sconce is missing the threaded rod mounting hardware but one can be found at your local hardware store. The finish is fair and could be cleaned up easily with Brasso or left with its natural patina. The glass globes are in good shape and don't need replacing. This light measure about 28 inches tall and weighs about 12 pounds. The wide end with the glass measures 13 1/2 inches wide with the glass being right at 12 inches wide. The top mounting pipe we have installed is 8 inches long. The connecting pipe and ceiling mount we have added to this light are iron. And painted with a color that is very close to a brass look. The connecting pipe is common 1/2 threaded pipe you buy at most hardware stores, so you can change the distance between the ceiling and the light by changing the pipe. The ceiling mount is 3 inches wide with four mount holes. This light has been re-wired with all new UL-Listed parts made by Westinghouse ... moreElectric. Our newly installed lighting hardware is rated for any voltage under 250 volts, so normal house power is not an issue. The new bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb with a wattage of less than 150 watts. Since the inside housing has very little space restrictions, you can even use the newer compact fluorescent bulbs, or a spot light with a common screw in base. Our wiring exits the center hole of the ceiling mount and we provide about 12 inches of extra wiring. Great industrial style Nautical light with a beautiful patina. Old gray ship paint was removed with chemical stripper. Rather than sand blasting and exposing a new shiny brass surface. Rubber gaskets replaced the originals but may need to be replaced with more heat resistant ones. Overall it measures approx. 9 1/2" long. New 14 gauge wire is connected to the socket. Heavy Old Nautical Wall Mounted Brass Kerosene Lamp
Very heavy– especially the base– old brass kerosene lamp. 8 ½” tall, 3 ½” across the base. It will stand alone, but is fitted with substantial pegs high on two sides that fit into angled slots of a wall-mounted bracket, and would presumably remain upright in an ocean swell. How far it would swing would of course depend on the height of the chimney. The wick is clean; the mechanism works smoothly; the dome at the top is signed with a‘T’ over‘M’ The surface has darkened fairly uniformly. Very good condition. There are a couple of dents, fortunately, given the dark color of the surface, not very visible. The more obvious one is a linear 1” dimple. No cracks, corrosion, scratches, or repair. They are gimbal lights which means they will remain upright as the ship/boat rolls. Lights are 6" tall. Base is 3 1/2" dia. and stick out from the bulkhead approximately 5" They are wired for either 12V or 120V light bulbs and have on/off switches. This is a very unique Maritime item. It's brass light with 4 sided glass. They had filaments of green and red. Port and Starboard are on the light. As you can see the colors had brittle. I opened the back door to the unit and held it up to the sun to shine through in one photo. Very heavy and solid lamp. This light was converted to an indoor display light but it still has the original three sockets if someone wants to return it to its original use as a nautical light. Either way this nautical light will display well. New/Used: Used. Approximate Dimensions in Inches- Length: 10” Diameter: 5 ½” Condition: Very good. The previous owner converted it to an indoor display light. The only two things we did were clean/inspect the glass lens and replacing the light cord. Which was defective. There is some corrosion and oxidation on the original three light sockets. The lens is intact with the exception of a crack near the new light bulb that was added. This crack is not that noticeable and can only ... morebe seen when the light is on. It does not appear to go all the way through the glass because you can’t feel it with your fingernail on either the inside or outside. Please see the last picture depicting this flaw. This light may have other minor imperfections consistent with use and age. There is some indents in the lamp(see photos) The 3 glass lens are damage free. It does latch shut, but it is a bit hard to do. It does not sit perfectly flat, it does wobble a bit. Thank you.
