ANTIQUE NAUTICAL SHIPS LIGHT LAMP - SHIP SALVAGE- RARE
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This light was purchased at an estate sale where most of my other auction listing came from.I was told by the folks selling that this was a ships lamp or light and would have been in a cabin onboard a ship. I cannot find any others to compare it to on ebay and there are no markings on the light other than on the socket inside the lamp and on the side as shown are the letters P&O. I am not sure if this was a gas type light or not. Although it has a socket where a bulb or something would have fit but on the side of the light it looks like a flint or sparker. The light will need the chrome trim cleaned.Sorry I am not much help here, please see the pictures and maybe someone out there can tell me more. The works are mounted on a nice piece of oak and there are exposed wires etc on the back. Antique Brass Nautical Light Ship Lantern This is a heavy(7-1/2lb. antique brass ship lantern. It is in good condition with the exception of several dents and a bent section of the guard. Please see photos. The internal lamp part is missing but a big 22oz Yankee Candle fits inside perfectly! Candle not included. The fixture is ventilated on top and bottom. It was designed for a flame burning oil lamp originally. The patina is nice. The glass lens is in great shape. The silver colored reflector inside is also in excellent condition. Up for sale today we are pleased to be offering an Antique Copper Riveted R.C. Murray& Co PORT Side Ship Maritime Lantern/Lamp with Clear Lens. This is in original un-restored condition. This is labeled on front: PORT LAMPADS No 552 RC Murray& Co Limited 37 Cavendish St Glasgow Etched on the glass on the front of the lens is MWGW Ltd. S.L.C. 118 There is some denting. There is oxidation causing some nice green patina mostly around the edges but there are no rust holes. There is a seam split near the bottom underneath the lens and you can see through to the inside as it is split across the front and open in some areas though not in others. There is noticeable dirt and some rust on the inside from years of storage. The lens has some chips but none of them go through. There are three which are noticeable and the rest of the lens is in ... moregood condition. It measures 21" high X 14" across X 14" deep. Diameter across the top is 5 3/8" approximately. We have been in the business of salvaging ocean liners and cruise liners for over 25 years from across the world. These ships were commissioned in the 1940's to 1950's and were decommissioned between the years 2007 to 2009. Hence we assure all our buyers that 99% of inventory is all original nautical antiques and not cheap reproductions. These lamps were affixed near the bedside in bunkers on ships so cadets or personnel on ships could pull them out based on their convenience for reading. Designed exquisitely we have polished them to regain their former luster. This lamp is great to have as a bedside lamp or as a great decorative lamp in a ... moreliving room. This brass lamp has copper rivets on it. When we salavge these lights we strip off the old wiring and paint and polish it to regain it former luster and glory. A small threading is then put on these lights so that it can wired to use. We also replace or repair old parts that are damaged or broken. The Lamp has brackets through which it can put on the wall. Large, Converted to Electrified Lamp, Used Up for auction is this vintage solid galvanized metal nautical Ship Anchor Lantern that had a light fixture installed to convert to a lamp(in my opinion. Should be removed) The classic anchor lamp used on sailing ships for hundreds of years. The anchor lamp is machined in pure heavy-gauge steel sheet. The Fresnel style lens is made to magnify the oil lamp light to be visible for 20 nautical miles. The tops to the main body and the vent top are both hinged. Thus the top swings open for access and ease of cleaning. This all metal(except the frilled vent top, which is galvanized copper) is galvanized and shows its age. THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION. The anchor lamp is named for its use. A 360o white light is required to be displayed at the highest point( the tallest mast) ... moreon all vessels at anchor or under way at night. These oil burning lanterns were made to be lit and hoisted to the top of the mast with one rope tied to the handle and 2 ropes through the brass guides to keep it from swaying as the ship rolled with the sea. Early. Copper& Brass Starboard Side Ships Lamp. This antique lamp was found at an estate sale in Henderson. NY on the eastern shore area of lake Ontario. The lamp is being offered as found for parts or refurbish or keep as is. The lamp stands 8.7/8" tall as is. The soot catcher or chimney cap is missing. The copper housing shows a lot of aged patina. There is a crack in the copper in the pierced trim that goes around the chimney(see image 9) The bottom door also has a split or crack(see image 5) The curved, green glass is in excellent condition for its age, just a few fine scratches and some dirt. The font/burner appears to be in very good condition, no holes or leaks, and is marked DIETZ CONVEX.
