This very old bible measures approximately 6" x 3" x 2.5" and also includes the New Testament. Psalms, prayers and songs. Printed in Amsterdam in 1839. The print is in what I presume is Dutch and is very small. Some pages are better than others. Some show moisture. But no mold. Some are frayed and discolored. The binding is still intact, as are the pages, though the cover shows quite a bit of wear. There are a few loose pages that I photographed in one of the photos below. There is writing. 1519 Bible Leaf Book of Psalms 35-38 Old Testament 4 Historiated Initials
Click on the image for a detailed view. This is a leaf of early printing from a Biblia latina. Biblia cum summarioru(m) apparatu pleno qaudrupliciq(ue) repertorio insignita. Book of Psalms 35-38. Printed at Lyon, by Jacques Mareschal for Simon Vincent in 1519. The leaf measures 168x 120 mm. in totality and contains fifty-six lines of gothic type, printed double column in Latin. There are 8-line historiated letters located at the beginning of each chapter. During the Sixteenth Century, Lyon was the most important center for printing in France. Jacques(alias Roland) Mareschal(1475-1529) was a master printer, a"seller" by 1522, as well as a"courier" for the Co-Fraternity of the Printers, a powerful guild organization of the age. Aside from this St. Jerome Bible, Mareschal was well known for his much-copied 1512 edition of ... morethe Bible as well as later versions in 1523, 1525 and 1526. Simon Vincent, one of three major publishers in Lyon at the time(along with Gueynard and Jacques Guinta) contracted with several printers simultaneously, Mareschal being one of them.
