The Bible from which this unique HANDWRITTEN leaf was found was p rinted in London by R. Barker. 1617, though it is unknown when the substitute leaf was written. Because it is handwritten, it could be suitable for any of the 59-line King James folio editions. Probably. The original leaf containing Jer 38:28-41:1 was at some point damaged or missing, and an untrained person created this leaf to substitute for the missing one. The paper is identical to all the others in this Bible, and was written on entirely by hand. See pics. This leaf from JEREMIAH comes from a disbound Bible not later ... morethan 1617. Manuscript Bible leaf on vellum most likely from Germany circa 1500's. Written in brown ink on parchment in a distinctive Ashkinazic square script. The leaf came from a complete Torah Bible scroll that has deteriorated and what was left from it is several incomplete leaf's. The text. In the Hebrew script is from the Book of Exodus, chapter 9, verse 3 to chapter 9, verse 21. Text is dated within the period based on the characters of the letters. For example the Hebrew Letter"Peh" פ" has a double swirl as the custom of script in that era. The leaf measures approximately 11" x 8. at there longest point though top edges are uneven. You are bidding on a striking and very rare leaf of musical score from a Catholic Antiphonary. Hand- painted in black, yellow and red lettering, probably circa early to mid 1200s. Manuscript 4-LINE musical score and Latin gothic lettered lyrics. On well aged thick rippled vellum; in blue, red, yellow and black ink, as shown. Highlighted by a large single intricate initial with red and blue linework trailing along the margin. Along with two smaller highlighted initials in the text. Leaf measures 11" x 15.5. Probably Italian in origin. Condition overall great. With some small instances of staining, rippling from candle exposure, and light paint rubbing, as shown. Undated. But main text, handwriting and vellum are ancient and carry characteristics of the early to mid 14th century, possibly earlier. I nk nice and bright. From an estate where everything on the walls was from the 1950s and 60s comes this framed English psalter leaf. I have examined it under high magnification and it is an authentic medieval hand-inked document on vellum and not a copy or reproduction. Nice gold. Red, and blue adornments. The leaf is matted to about 6 3/8" x 4 3/8" The frame itself is also very nice, with a copper or gold foil and hand drawing and lettering, and measures about 12 1/2" x 10"
