The entire text of these two volumes is in German. This is Dr. Lorenz Bohler's classic work. First published in 1929. Dr. Bohler(1885-19730 was an Austrian orthopedic surgeon credited as being the creator of modern trauma surgery. Both a hospital and a radiological procedure where named for him. These works are well illustrated and show many well These very heavy volumes are profusely illustrated with detailed black and white medical photographs. The books contain numerous well documented cases including a variety of complicated compound fractures where even the salvation of the limb pictured(never mind its continued functionality) appears miraculous. The photographs ... moreshow a variety of traumatic accident injuries and the treatment path from radiological images to splinting to traction to post-surgical follow-up. We did not notice any images of the actual surgeries. The images can be graphic and overwhelming for a lay person not used to medical literature. We've chosen to partly obscure the images in two photographs shown in our listing due to the graphic nature of the compound fracture in one photo and nudity of the patient in another photo. Both volumes have a Budapest bookseller's sticker in them. Volume 1: was published in 1937. 784 pages. Followed by a section of booksellers advertisements. I don't know much about these cuties. I would guess they are from the 20'30's? They are miniature dictionary books of 6 that come sitting on a wooden bench. They are marked LILLIPUT and They are Marked inside~ Printed in Germany Schmidt& Gunther Leipzig. The bindings on these books are leather but have been worn smooth through the years& are frayed on the outter edges& on 2-3 a lot of the back leather binding had dried with age& fallen apart, the pages are all intact. These books are from an Amish sale in Iowa. The reason I describe as 4 books is because the green cover book is incomplete in the front but I will add with sale. No pictures are shown inside the Green book. The colorful hardback is missing half the cover for binding- mesh is fine and book is solid. 6 colorful(thick page illustrations inside. The larger of the 2 leather bounds is dated 1862 and has foxing throughout. 214 pages-the binding is solid and pages are attached with none loose. There is a break in the page group at about the 3rd page, corners have wear and binding seam has small split and small holes. The smaller leather bound has loose pages but is complete I believe. 342 pages with a signature on the cover page and back page, most pages are attached but several loose. Deutsche Liderschule & Supplement Music Books In German 1879
These two antique books are written in German. I do not understand the language and so I am limited in describing the content. I can see that they are about music and both are dated 1879. The first one is Deutsche Liederschule and it ends at page 76. I can't tell if there was ever a cover but content appears to be complete. Condition is rather good for a 136 year old book. That book is continued in Supplement Deutschen Liederschule which begins on page 77 and ends on 180. The supplement cover is no longer attached and is raggedy on the edge but content also appears intact and complete. The name Dr. Ludwig Stark is on the cover of both books.
