Medieval Illuminated Manuscript Bible Vellum Latin Plainsong Apostl James 1450's Up for auction is a very neat old Illuminated plainsong manuscript. It is written in a Dead Latin Langauge but at one time I had it partly translated but I forgot what it said. I know not very bright on my part. But I do remember that it is a plainsong about the apostle James. It is hand done on vellum. It is 2 sided the front is the begining of the song and the back is the end. It is framed in heavy glass on both sides there are 2 screws with just and old cord hooked on it to hang it from but it works. Pages are about 24 by 17. Because of the weight and size of this shipping will be around $30 to $40 depending on where you live.

15 inches by 19.5 inches red and black on what we belive to be Vellum Manuscript Musical Score. Condition is acceptable, there are wrinkles in the paper, a few instances of ink rubbing off, a few small holes and a torn corner lower right hand. Printed front and back. The back side is in better condition, probably due to being covered and not exposed to light. On the back side bedised red and black there is some gold printing used to highlight the musical notes and text. It is undated but based on internet research, may be as old as 15th to 17th century. It is framed in an inexpensive wood frame with glass, that it has been in it for years.

It also has a unique design that I have never seen before. It consists of a square divided with red ink into four compartments, which looks like a symbol of the Christian cross. Choir Missal Highly Illuminated Manuscript with Monks This piece measures about 14" wide by 21.5" high. It is written on both sides. It is a five line staff music sheet. The staff lines are red and the ink is ... morebrown with the exception of a few red letters or words. One side has a large E with gold and greenish blue embellishments. The bottom of the page is also decorated with gold and greenish blue embellishments with some red. On the same side is six monks which run vertical in the margin. Two of the monks are wearing green robes and four are wearing brown robes. Each is posed in a slightly different position. Each has the tops of their heads shaved and their heads are surrounded by halos. The halos are colored in gold and each robe has some gold one each one. This piece was not double framed and this is the side that was shown through the glass so it is more yellowed. Most likely from exposure to light. The opposite side is less yellowed and only has the words written in brown and red. There is a large C written in red. There are condition issues. In addition to the yellowing on both sides(one more so than the other side) two corners are torn and missing. Both on the same side of the page. A small tear at the top and bottom. Someone also used clear tape on the pages when can clearly be seen. The tape is no longer there but you can see were the tape has been. There is a crease at the

The leaf measures 4 15/16" x 3 3/4" 125mm x 90mm) It is likely Psalm 14, written in Latin and is in Gothic script with fine burnished gold initials and illuminated borders. There is manuscript on the recto and verso. It is protected in an easily removable mat and frame. Condition: The leaf is in very good condition.
