You are bidding on a striking and beautifully framed and illuminated leaf of musical score. C1500s, probably from a Spanish Antiphonary, hand- painted in black and red w/ beautiful added floral and portrait illuminations, dating over 400 years old! Manuscript musical score and Latin lyrics. On well aged thick- pr obably Ox- vellum. As shown, framed in glass in a large decorative Victorian style frame with gold gilt edges and inner velvet framing. Front of leaf with large illuminated initial, original illuminations, with later late 1600s/ early c1700s added floral and monk illumination additions. Verso not examined. In great shape, both leaf and frame. Leaf over 24" tall; in frame measures 27.5" x 22" x 2" thick. Condition overall great. Undated. Antique Vellum Sheet Music 1400 1500 Latin German Religious Proto Gothic Bible
Up for auction is sheet music on vellum paper.size is little over 17.5 x 13 inches.I have no clue what exactly i have here.please email and let me know if you can help me identify the language or what this is and I'll update the listing to make it more accurate.anyway about the sheet.I got this out of a whole house trash pile.I don't know if the home owner died or was evicted but it looked like everything that was in the house was now on the curb and going to the dump and I pulled this out of that pile.it was in a nice golden color frame.I broke the glass and removed it from the frame.the sheet is double sided so there's print on both sides.also on the back side of the frame was taped a piece if paper(the last two pictures are of it) that the pervious owner had started doing research on the sheet music.I will include it in the ... morepackage.regarding the sheet music.the side with the 58 in the corner is darker that the backside probably from exposure. I tried to do research on the script it's written in best I could find is proto gothic. 1600-1700 Huge VELLUM Illuminated ROMAN Catholic MANUSCRIPT Bible MUSICAL Music
You are bidding on a strikingly massive and very rare leaf of musical score from a pulpit Catholic Antiphonary. Hand- painted in black and red with precise intricate Latin lettering, circa late 1400s-early 1500s. Manuscript 5-LINE musical score and Latin lettered lyrics. On well aged rippled vellum; in red and black ink, as shown. Leaf measures 23.5" x 16.5. Condition overall quite good. With some small instances of staining, edgewear, and light paint rubbing, as shown; rubbing off moreso to the verso from displaying. Undated. But main text and vellum are ancient and carry characteristics of the early 17th to early 18th century. Beautiful initials throughout- a true showstopper! Ink nice and bright. Although it has some paint fading and a few letters have rubbed off, again mostly to the back, as shown. Still, a great candidate for framing ... morewith added character! You are bidding on a striking and very rare leaf of musical score from a Catholic Antiphonary. Hand- painted in black, yellow and red lettering, probably circa early to mid 1200s. Manuscript 4-LINE musical score and Latin gothic lettered lyrics. On well aged thick rippled vellum; in blue, red, yellow and black ink, as shown. Highlighted by a large single intricate initial with red and blue linework trailing along the margin. Along with two smaller highlighted initials in the text. Leaf measures 11" x 15.5. Probably Italian in origin. Condition overall great. With some small instances of staining, rippling from candle exposure, and light paint rubbing, as shown. Undated.
