It is written in a Dead Latin Langauge but at one time I had it partly translated but I forgot what it said. I know not very bright on my part. But I do remember that it is a plainsong about the apostle James. It is hand done on vellum. It is 2 sided the front is the begining of the song and the back is the end. It is framed in heavy glass on both sides there are 2 screws with just and old cord hooked on it to hang it from but it works. Pages are about 24 by 17. Because of the weight and size of this shipping will be around $30 to $40 depending on where you live.

The Bible from which this unique HANDWRITTEN leaf was found was p rinted in London by R. Barker. 1617, though it is unknown when the substitute leaf was written. Because it is handwritten, it could be suitable for any of the 59-line King James folio editions. Probably. The original leaf containing Jer 38:28-41:1 was at some point damaged or missing, and an untrained person created this leaf to substitute for the missing one. Manuscript Bible leaf on vellum most likely from Germany circa 1500's. Written in brown ink on parchment in a distinctive Ashkinazic square script. The leaf came from a complete Torah Bible scroll that has deteriorated and what was left from it is several incomplete leaf's. The text. In the Hebrew script is from the Book of Exodus, chapter 9, verse 3 to chapter 9, verse 21. Text is dated within the period based on the characters of the letters. For example the Hebrew Letter"Peh" פ" has a double swirl as the custom of script in that era. The leaf measures approximately 11" x 8. at there longest point though top edges are uneven. Fragments of this age are not found and extremely important for its utmost rarity of the earliest examples of the Ashkenaz Jewish tradition. You are bidding on a very large vellum leaf of Catholic music in Latin consisting of antiphonary prayers. Hand- painted with large clear lettering and beautifu l patina. C1 4 50/1500s. Manuscript in Latin lyrics on well aged vellum; in black ink. Probably of Spanish origin. 22" x 16" Sight condition overall acceptable, with some aging/fading and rubbing off of paint from dampstaining, some light staining, a few small holes and edge chips, and corners with loss, as shown. Undated. But main text and vellum are ancient and carry characteristics of the late 15th to early 17th century(any info welcomed) Again. This is a page from a Bible manuscript. Hand copied and illustrated with painted initials in Northeastern France in the mid-to-late 1200's. The text is the epistle of James, or Iacobi in the Latin at the top of this leaf. The language of the text is Latin, as it was for virtually all Christian scriptural texts in this period. Two initials-the large one and another on the other side of the leaf-are illuminated: that is, they include touches of burnished gold as well as painted areas. Although some now use the phrase"illuminated manuscript" to describe any hand-written text with painted illustration, true illumination, ... moreor"lighting up" with gold, is a feature of luxurious manuscripts. There are other signs that this detached page was part of a high quality book: the vellum, or leather that supports the text is very thin and refined-as thin as a modern piece of fine notepaper, and semi-translucent. Dimensions are: height: 11.5" width: 7.5" The photos look a bit out of square because I do not have a tripod, and it is difficult to center the camera over the piece and hold it exactly level. Width at top and bottom differs by less than an eighth of an inch. The ink used to write the text has faded slightly to a mid-value brown. But the paint retains jewel-like blues and reds along with paler colors. Manuscript books, unlike paintings on panels or walls, spend most of their lives closed, protecting their painted decorations and illustrations from fading through exposure to light. The book of which this leaf was a part, probably remained intact until the late nineteenth or even well into the twentieth century.
