It looks as though that was the way it was made~to me. The thin black tires are worn down in spots, revealing the wire/metal that makes the wheel. The back of the buggy/carriage folds down(shown in picture) the front foot resting raises as well. In pausing to check over the buggy, to ensure the description is to the best of my ability~I have just discovered that the buggy folds up entirely.as if you are folding a stroller. Since I cannot add another picture without deleting one~if you are interested in this item, I will gladly send the picture of it folded to your email. The handle to push the buggy is weathered. It due to it's age naturally has the fading or rubbed down spots of the wood, markings, a couple slight cracks(not open) The wicker on the sides of this item, has only a couple little pieces of wicker missing(in two spots& they are not big) It's a beautiful piece, however keep in mind that it's still fragile. It's no longer crisp fresh wicker/wood. The coloring is fading/weathering throught the whole buggy~naturally giving it, it's antique unique look. These two items are as they were for years~together. Antique Victorian wicker doll baby buggy or pram. The buggy is in very good condition. The wicker is intact along with the pie shaped celluloid windows on each side of the buggy. It measures 29 inches long, 13 1/2 inches wide and 30 inches tall. The inside of the buggy measures 9 inches wide and 20 1/2 inches long. The brake mechanism is in working order. It has a steel frame, steel springs, a wooden handle, and steel foot brake. Also a reclining back. The rubber on the wheels has oxidized and is very hard. The rubber on one of wheel has broken off. Up for sale is our family's Antique Wicker Baby Carriage/Buggy from The National company in Perrysburg. Ohio. This was purchased for my Grandfather, an only child and then 20 years later used for his daughters, then my mother used it for me. It has since been stored indoors for over 60 years. I have used it as a beautiful decoration with artificial flowers during the year and filled with fake wrapped presents at Christmas time. I remember my mother giving a baby shower for a friend and having me push the buggy in filled with wrapped presents. All the parts work on this buggy, and there is a little hidden compartment in the bottom that is covered with a fold back cloth top for keeping valuables, diapers, etc. The wooden wheels are beautiful. This is in its original condition. It measures approximately: 45-1/2 in. high with the bonnet in ... morean upright position, the entire length is approximately 47-1/2 in. long with the bonnet down, and 46 in. with the bonnet up. The wicker body only withe the bonnet down is approximately 33-1/2 in. long. The Bonnet is 21-1/2 in wide. The wood wheels are 14-1/4 in. across. This is pick up only, though I do travel a little so possibly an arrangement can be made for delivery or to meet part way. I am selling this only because I have downsized and neither of my two children likes or wants this-they are not into antiques. This would look so gorgeous on a large porch with flowers in it, or as it was meant to be used for a baby. Please be aware that I do not accept returns. There is no reserve price on this. The carriage body with its fanciful curvy lines is constructed of woven wicker with a turned wood handle. Everything else is metal. The metal wheels with hard rubber rims work quite smoothly. Pictured in the ... more5th photo above is a mechanism behind the seat that controls the raising and lowering of the foot rest and seat back. There is also a parasol holder with a screw to hold it in place. Dimensions are about 40" long for the carriage with the foot rest extended and 36” with the foot rest folded back x 19" wide carriage and 24” wheel to wheel width x 36-3/4" tall(including handle) All four wheels have a diameter is 14” It weighs about 30 pounds. This buggy is in original condition with the exception of the newer upholstered side cushions. Those cushions need some attention as they are a bit loose fitting. The wicker is quite good with only a few broken reeds in the woven bottom seat along with some minor surface soiling. A slight warp to the foot rest can be seen in the photo above. Please check all photos carefully. And let me know if you want more. There is also surface oxidation and rust on the metal parts and paint loss on the handle. With ornate wicker that is curved and braided beautifully. It has the original metal attachments for a parasol, sorry I do not have the parsol) spoked wood wheels with a curved metal strap around each wheel. Beautiful floral upholstery with matching pillow and foot rest. I don't think this is the original, but not for certain. I can find no holes in the wicker, but there are some very small spots of worn or chipped paint(does not appear to be re-painted) and I can see a small section(1/2 inch) of missing braided trim on the footrest(check photo close-up) Top works well, wheels turn well, and it seems to be quite sturdy all around. Looks like the interior lining is missing(as seen in first pic) but these can be easily re-lined by an experienced doll collector/restorer. Up for auction is an Antique Victorian Baby Carriage Buggy with Canopy. I believe the carriage is from the 1800's. It measures 54" long from the handle bar to the end of the front wheel. The width is 21" The height to the top of the carriage canopy is 45 1/2" The height when measured to the top of the baby basket is 32" The baby basket is 36" long& 16 1/2" wide. Two of the carriage wheels measure 22" the other two wheels measure 20" The hardware that holds the carriage canopy is made of bronze. The canopy is adjustable& removable. The lower portion of the wooden arms that connect to the handle bar have been reinforced. I used this for my daughters when they were babies. They slept inside when they were very little and I could move the Buggy around. It also looks great with the other antique Baby items I have. It is in GREAT shape. The only thing negitive is the rubber wheels have a flat spot. It was parked in one spot too long. But it was like that when I bought it 30 years ago. It still has all the original parts. Even the leather strap and padding and inside upholstry to match. The back adjusts inside for sitting up a child up or laying down. The top Cover adjusts too. Simply amazing Estate Sale find. It is wicker and canvas and wood and steel wheels. The condition is very very good. It is dirty and needs a good cleaning. It has clearly been in a barn for a long time. I am not going to clean it. I'll leave it to the new owners. There are a couple of flaws. One piece of wicker is broken but still present and the'handlebar' has been chewed on, on one end. The canvas top is solid and the folding mechanism works. I did buy it at an estate sale and it had an old faded hand written tag on it for $375. Untitled Document Antique Wicker carriage rocker with lace canopy. For Life sized Dolls This beautiful condition wicker carriage. Is in excellent antique condition. This is large enough to put a real life sized doll baby into and add your own bedding linens. Just carriage measures approx. 25" x 18" X 14" without the canopy. It comes with what you see here in the photos. The original pillow and bedding materials shown and the vintage lace canopy with ribbons and bows shown. I don't believe the canopy wire frame is original. It is not well attached and is really just for show. You are buying the antique wicker rocker carriage and the rest is just added in. The wicker carriage is very well constructed with a solid hard wood bottom as shown too. The few I have seen have all been in poorer condition with a lot of broken wicker ... moreand cracked or missing wood bottoms. This one is choice! The Wicker is quite delicate. So no international shipping on this one, sorry. This is a rare find and rarer still to find one like this in such fantastic shape! I usually ship free. Antique Wicker Baby Buggy Early 1900's Adjustable Nice!
Up for bid this week is a beautiful Vintage Early 1900's Wicker Baby Buggy In Great Working Condition. The baby is off white and huge. It has a brake. Adjustable overhead canopy which also slides forward and back, the back of the buggy folds back into a resting position, and the foot portion actually can fold down almost to the ground, then in the middle or it can fold completely up against the buggy basket portion. The buggy has metal wheels with spokes. The buggy is in great condition-could use a good cleaning and some touchup paint possibly but I wanted to leave it in its original condition-the way I found it and let the high bidder do as he pleases as far as cleaning and painting. The wheels do turn and you can push the carriage if desired. The handle is a turned wood. The seat has been recovered and we are including the matching ruffled seat blanket.
