It was found at an estate sale of a local antique dealer who may have added the newer upholstery. The carriage body with its fanciful curvy lines is constructed of woven wicker with a turned wood handle. Everything else is metal. The metal wheels with hard rubber rims work quite smoothly. Pictured in the ... more5th photo above is a mechanism behind the seat that controls the raising and lowering of the foot rest and seat back. There is also a parasol holder with a screw to hold it in place. Dimensions are about 40" long for the carriage with the foot rest extended and 36” with the foot rest folded back x 19" wide carriage and 24” wheel to wheel width x 36-3/4" tall(including handle) All four wheels have a diameter is 14” It weighs about 30 pounds. This buggy is in original condition with the exception of the newer upholstered side cushions. Those cushions need some attention as they are a bit loose fitting. The wicker is quite good with only a few broken reeds in the woven bottom seat along with some minor surface soiling. A slight warp to the foot rest can be seen in the photo above. Please check all photos carefully. And let me know if you want more. There is also surface oxidation and rust on the metal parts and paint loss on the handle. Up for bid is a vintage wicker doll stroller that is in pretty nice condition! A partial label on the bottom tells us that this item was originally sold by J C Penney and was a model 265/5 and is"sturdily made" We believe that this item was made by the"Real Baby Cart Factory" and sold sometime in the 1920's-1930's. But we cannot be certain. The rough measurements are; 25 inches from the floor to the top of the handle, Using outside dimensions, the basket is 9 inches tall by 17 inches long and 10 1/4 inches in one side and it tapers down to about 9 1/2 inches. The hood or bonnet is 11 inches by 8 inches and the opening is 12 inches. The wheel base is 9 inches by 9 inches(hub to hub) Spoked wheels are about 7 1/4 inches in outside diameter. Bonnet has pivot points that work ok. The knobs loosen and tighten as they ... moreshould with a little encouragement. The wooden base on the inside of the basket has two pieces, the floor is a board that is 7 by 13 inches and the backrest is 6 inches by 7 inches. The metal bracket is movable to either raise or lower the backrest. The bonnet can swivel so the doll can"see" out the front of the cart or"look back" towards the handle. The wheels feel like they have been sitting stationary for a while and they all have a part of the wheel that is a bit"flatter" The wicker has minor paint loss and is still somewhat flexible and pliable. Sure, it squeaks when you push it. As you can see in the pics, it is not in perfect condition and shows a little wear and some surface rust on the metal parts. The plastic in the bonnet is intact on both sides, but it is a bit cloudy. We will disassemble the unit before we ship it. One square nut is missing from the brackets on the bottom of the unit. So Charming.The Carriage is made from natural wicker with spindle wheels and dripping with ivory lacy frills. Ivory and pink ribbons, matching dried flowers and a hand made lace tatting doily. I'm not sure of it's actual age. But the relatives handling the Estate know that it has been present in the home for quite some time. The natural wicker is in fine condition. I see no sign of damage. The piece is more a prop than play wear. Though the wheels do indeed turn In two pieces. The top Cradle can be removed from the base and wheel section. The Baby Doll Carriage has been lavishly trimmed with lace applied in 3 ruffled layers and about the hood of the cradle. Accented with lavish bows. This carriage measures 17" long x 9" wide by 26" tall. The wheels are 8" in diameter. Antique Child or Doll Stroller Carriage Buggy Pram Cart in Oak and Metal MINT
You are bidding on a unique carriage. Buggy or cart for a child or doll that is Victorian or Edwardian in style. The carriage is in excellent shape. The carriage is made of wood(oak) and iron. It has two adorable red spoke wheels and an oak handle decorated with inscribed lines. The handle also fold and has a locking system. The seats and cushion are also in red with gold trim. The seat has a leather strap with a picture of a young child and the seat itself has a reversible back so the child can sit facing either way. The cushion on the seat says" E-Z Go" in gold letters. This is a great looking and solidly made carriage or buggy. This carriage appears to have a kind of spring system to cushion the ride. It is in surprisingly good shape considering its age: the wheels and"tire" are good and the wood and leather are in ... morenice shape. The paint is mostly there although there is some crazing. There seems to be one small slat of wood missing on the side. I may be able to supply a properly sized piece of oak(I remember making one a while back. But never used it as the carriage looks fine the way it is- I may be able to find it) I am shipping this taken apart: 6 bolts;two that hold the handle and 4 that hold the seat. It is easy to put back and I will supply instructions. I can ship it together. But the cost would be almost 3 times as much because the box is over sized. From an Estate we have an American genuine antique Victorian doll carriage from the late 1800s or early 1900s with Victorian style Doll. The doll is a Bradley collectible doll from the 1980's. She is dressed in vintage clothing. Her dress is soft yellow lace and she has a matching hat. Parasol, knickers and leather lace up shoes. She is the perfect compliment for this awesome antique coll carriage. Made in the late 1800s this is a wicker"convertible" carriage. It was made in this smaller version for Victorian girls to model their mothers' behavior with their dolls. The carriage goes from sitting to laying down with the aid of a lever and was advertised as being a GO CART. Which is our equivalent of the word"stroller" On the bottom of the carriage is a Sticker that says: Every Baby should have a Bloch Go-Cart. Made ... moreby Philadelphia Baby Carriage Factory. None Genuine without the name“Bloch” The number 835 is written on the bottom in a green color. The same number is written in the bed of the carriage. I recieved this from an antique site: The Bloch Go Cart Co. was formed in 1897. First selling hooded strollers. Their showroom was in Phila. Pa. and their factory was in Egg Harbor. N.J. They used a lot of Fiber to make their pieces. They produced a lot of wicker in the 1920's. They were not so high quality as Heywood Bros.and Wakefield Co. This is indeed pretty rare. If you consider that they may have used less quality materials. There is one small area of wicker missing, it is in the lower back and is not visible when a doll is in the bed. The wheels are 10 inch metal spokes with a hard rubber tire. The carriage is about 30 inches tall. 18 inches wide and about 34 inches long. It will be shipped with its wheels removed and the handle removed. The shipping for the box will be about 100.00 due to the size of the box.
