1970 Alvarez-Yari Clasical, Rosewood
This Alvarez=Yari clasical guitar is hand signed& dated by Kazuo Yari. It may have been hand made by him(was new to the company at that point) The wood is all pure(not ply) with rosewood back& sides(it may be brazilian) It's over all condition is 8+ with 1 small ding on the back of the neck(pictured) there's some minor playing wear& tear. But over all in great condition. The neck is straight, has good action(for nylon string) very little, if any, fret wear. one of the tuner button posts is slightly bent, but doesn't effect the useability. The tone is loud& clean, with tons of bass response. I'd put this guitar up against all but the best Remirez. One of the loudest clasicals I've ever played!

This is a rather huge Yari. The blade measures 265 mm. Width is 50 mm, thickness ca.30 mm and nakago is 415 mm. It weighs about 1.25 Kg! I made some pictures with a ``normal`` yari for comparison. Nakago is signed: Fujiwara huyuhiro shohei(kanji illigible) saku from edo period. There is no nick. No bend and the cutting edge is very sharp.Hada is rather coarse. Blade has a well cut bohi filled with red laquer and nakago has one mekugi ana. Shipping outside Germany is 40.00 $

It has a two piece construction that is easy to manage and secures tightly. It is very unique and they do not come up often for sale. I recently got a big push to reduce the size of my collection and so this is got to go. Total Length 83 1/4 Inches Spear Tip Length 10 3/4 Inches(Notes From Dynasty Forge) A truly unique piece. The Dynasty Forge Jumonji Yari is hand-forged from high-carbon steel. The three-prongs are meticulously clay-tempered, resulting in a Hamon around the entirety of the blade. The Yari is mounted on a two-sectional hard-wood shaft with a steel joint for easy storage and carry. I don’t know what it should feel like but it seems solid. The blade looks like it has stressed the wood behind it and there is some cracking in the lacquer but the pole itself is not cracked. It might be a stress crack but it does not open or look like a full crack. Some of the fittings on the pole are a bit loose. Saya/Scabbard: The saya has a crack and some scuffs/dings in it. Nagasa/Blade: It is in good shape overall. No nicks or bends from what I can tell. It is also crazy sharp. Shipping: I will ship free to the continental US. Alvarez Yari is always a high quality instrument. This rare solid wood acoustic double neck was very limited production and therefore they are almost never available for sale. This one is very clean cosmetically with no modifications or repairs; both necks are straight with working truss rods. The guitar plays very well with low action, the necks have a great feel, play easily and they both sound incredible. The 6 string and 12 string necks both seem to benefit from the large body and the tonality of each is just fantastic. As strange as double neck guitars can be this one seems to really work, a great design and pro execution by Alvarez Yari. There’s a minor drying seam crack one side of one of the heels as pictured, totally benign and structurally sound cosmetic only. This is a fukuro yari head I bought. Type where the shaft fits into the head. Examined it. Time to pass it on. Edge length 5 inches. Full length 9.5 Pretty close to good length measurements. No sheath. Has a complex construction where the sides of the triamgular head are convex at the base and concave at the tip. Has a visible hamon. Straight along edge. No wave or variation. Some light pitting at base of head. Takes a shaft just under 1 inch diameter. No shaft with this item! Good, substantial, Edo period yari head.

This is a Japanese yari in storage mountings. The blade is signed"Muramasa 村正" Masa kanji character is hard to read from the rust) Hira-sankaku-yari shape. Muromachi period ca. 1550 era made blade. The blade is in old full polish, no rust, no scratch and in mint condition. There is no nick, no bend, no opening, no crack temper and cutting edge is very sharp. The temper line is wavy chu-suguba with nie(crystal) active temper throughout the blade and has healthy turn-back temper at the point. The forging grain is masame-hada and no forging flaws. It is mounted in ho-wood storage mounting. No crack, dent and in good condition. It measures 6+1/8"tip to the neck 5+3/8" cutting edge, 5/8" width, 1/2" thickness at the notch and 25+1/2" in mountings.
