Replicating the 14th century original. The exact imagery for the face of the reprinted note was obtained by phootgraphic superimposition of high quality negatives from three specimens of the genuine Ming currency. This souvenier sheet conveys the color. Texture, size and composition of the original notes along with the identical imprint. There ... moreis a brief history of printed paper currencies. Particularly from China. There is a specific description of what each panel means including a basic translation of the"Great Ming General Currency Precious Note. This history is written up on the back of the souvenier sheet. A Marvelous Addition to your ANA or Paper Money collection! Shipping will be free within the United States. I prefer Paypal payments. Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl
This bowl with flared rim dates to the 16th- early 17th century of the Wanli reign(1572-1620) It is quite heavily-potted and decorated in underglaze blue with a scrolling floral pattern around the outer wall and an unglazed circle around the glazed inner center. With blue bands encircling the inner surface. Iron-brown glaze has been applied around the rim edge and foot to prevent fritting of the glaze during firing. There are the usual kiln firing imperfections common to provincial wares. The diameter: 6 inches and Height 2 1/4 inches. Underglaze decoration: Decorationpainted on the body of a ceramic ware before glazing after which it becomescovered by glaze. The most common colors used on pottery and porcelain aremetallic oxides of iron. Cobalt(qinghua) and copper. The so far earliest knownexamples of underglaze decoration on Chinese ceramics ... moreoccur on Celadon waresdiscovered in 3rd-century tombs in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Provenance: I acquired the pieces in my collection; provincial bowls. Plates, dishes and funerary vases from the Qing, Ming, Yuan and Song Dynasties, when I went on one of my buying trips to China in February of 2002. These items were procured from a dealer in the city of Qingdao southeast of Beijing. They belonged to mostly farmers in the rural countryside outside of Qingdao. It is no longer possible to purchase early pieces for export anymore since China has emerged as an economic power. The Chinese are conserving their antiquities and restricting export. Ironically, they are purchasing many of their antiques here in the U.S. to bring back to China. I had the pieces examined by a dealer in Chicago, Tom O’Hara, a well respected dealer and collector with a good reputation. He stated that the pieces were authentic and were above average quality since he had seen many examples of Song, Yuan and Ming provincial pieces in New York. I can assure you that these pieces are authentic and in very good condition. This bowl is in fine condition with no restoration or repair.

Ming Dynasty Hoi An Hoard Shipwreck Porcelain Floral Bowl
A beautiful. Unusual porcelain bowl from the famous Hoi An cargo. The Ming Dynasty bowl is of Vietnamese origin. Dating to approximately 1400 AD; a sea salvaged and officially recorded piece from the'Hoi-An' Shipwreck. The deep bowl is of beautiful form. With ring base, flaring walls and slightly everted lip. Painted in blue on white with scrolling floral decorations, the tondo(central reserved area) depicts a thickly painted Chinese cloud scroll, the exterior of the bowl with a band of continuous leaf and flower meander, a further band of lotus petals decorates the bottom of the body. The base of the vessel is left unglazed and adorned with cafe au lait slip. A wonderful piece. This rare piece has a wonderful. Romantic provenance. It was excavated from the important Hoi-An shipwreck. The Hoi-An was a huge, overloaded trading ship ... morethat sank in the mid 15th Century, probably due to a catastrophic typhoon. The ship was carrying a substantial cargo of High Quality Vietnamese Ming export porcelain. We know that the Hoi An wares were produced in Kilns near modern-day Hanoi and were probably bound for the European Market before the ship was cruelly destroyed and sunk 250 feet into the cold waters of the South China Sea. The fascinating story of the Hoi-An and its recovery has been made into a best-selling novel by Frank Pope, entitled Dragon Sea: A True Tale of Treasure. Archeology, and Greed Off the Coast of Vietnam. In contrast to many unprovenanced Hoi An pieces on the market. This ceramic has been officially recorded by the Vietnamese authorities(VISAL) whose sticker is affixed to the artifact. The recent ratification of the UNESCO convention by South East Asian countries will effectively put a halt to all future shipwreck salvage operations. Consequently, legitimately recorded pieces such as the present example are finite in supply and currently represent a fantastic investment opportunity. Ceramics from the Hoi An Hoard can now be found on display in the worlds top museums. Including the Ashmolean and the

CHINESE MING DYNASTY(1368-1644) UNDERGLAZE BLUE INCENSE POT
Underglaze Blue Porcelain is the best known type of Asian Ceramic Art. It is often referred to as'Blue and White' because of its blue cobalt oxide painted on a white clay body below the clear glaze. Blue and White Porcelain first appeared during the Yuan dynasty(1279- 1368) but became so pervasive during the Ming dynasty(1368- 1644) that today'Blue and White' and Ming are commonly used interchangeably. The rare motif of a flying-fish dragon(feiyu) appears to have been used only briefly. During the early of the Ming period. Its appearance may be related to the tightening of Ming regulations regarding what types of dragons and how many claws different categories of officials and other groups at court were permitted to use. Some have also suggested that flying-fish dragon may be a reference to China's position as the world's ... moremost important seafaring empire in the fifteenth century. This incense pot is probably from early Ming Dynasty period. During the reign of Hongwu(1368-1398) A decree was issued in the year 1371 which forbid certain subjects such as previous emperors, queens, sages or saints, dragon, phoenix, lion and chilin on porcelains. Another decree was issued in the year 1447 by emperor Zhengtong(1436-1449) which prohibited the production of color glaze such as yellow, purple, red or blue glazes including those with underglazed blue design. Majority of the wares produced during the Early Ming period were functional in nature. Such as bowl, plate, covered jar and incense burner. Dimensions: Diameter- 4 ½ inches. Height– 3 5/8 inches. V.RARE 17TH CHINESE MING DYNASTY CELADON JADE QILIN DRAGON FIGURE BI DISC PLAQUE
V.RARE 17TH CHINESE MING DYNASTY CELADON JADE QILIN DRAGON FIGURE BI DISC PLAQUE About Our Auctions. Hi. Thank you for having a look at my items. If you have been watching my auctions over the past couple weeks you will know I have been auctioning a Large and Important Asian Art Estate collection. Up for auction this week is an Amazing Array or Very Fine and Rarely Seen Chinese Scholar’s Objects. Jades, and Fine Stone Carvings, I believe one of my Finest sales to date. As All my auctions have run for over 12 years selling on eBay Everything is to be sold to the high bidder with Absolutely No Reserves. Just like a Real auction should be! I do wish everyone the Very Best of luck winning the auctions. Description Up for auction is a Fine and Rare 17thc Chinese Carved Jade Qilin Dragon Figural Bi Disc or Plaque. The Plaque is very finely and ... moreintricacy hand carved throughout. I was told the plaque itself would date from the later Ming Dynasty period.Which I believe to be a correct dating although there is the possibility it could even be an earlier piece. The Jade itself has a beautify tone and a fine Ming period softness to the jade itself from many years of handling. The Plaque has two qilin dragons with intricately carved heads. The Dragons features are deeply carved with the heads carved in three dimensions, showing its great period qualities. The Plaque also came from the estate with this very finely carved wood display stand, which was most likely carved some time in the 20th century to display the plaque nicely. The Stand has a great wave carved design, along with an old collection serial number to the base. The stand shows its age with some wear throughout. But overall the stand and jade plaque are in very fine original condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or damages of any king. The Plaque itself measures 3 inches long, by 2 3/8 inches wide, and ¾’s of an inch thick. The Plaque on its stand measures 5 inches tall. The Plaque is one of the finest quality examples I have personally seen. BEST OF LUCK

Charming Ming Dynasty Blue & White Bowl
This attractive Ming dynasty bowl was made during the transitional period of the Chongzhen(1627-1644) reign. The bowl is decorated on the outer wall in underglaze blue with a stylized floral motif and a wave pattern boarder under the rim. There are 2 blue bands encircling the outer wall near the foot. Within the base is stuck kiln grit. As is often the case with this type of Swatow-wear. There is some surface wear and minor firing faults to the rim. The inside of the bowl features a single floral motif in the center encircled by two blue bands and another near the top of the rim. There is a single hairline crack running vertically from the rim, clearly visible as it has become stained due to long burial. There are no damages, repairs or restoration. In fine condition. The diameter is 4 ½ inches andheight 2 inches. Crackled: Anetwork of ... moreirregular cracks in the glaze caused by a disagreement in the rateof shrinkage between body and glaze during cooling. From the Song dynasty andonwards crackles seems to have been intentionally produced as decoration. Theappearance could be enhanced by tea(red) or ink(black) being rubbed into thecracks. Crackle decoration is to be found on such Sung dynasty wares as Ru.Guan, and Ge, or on archaizing wares made later, up until today. Traditionallythe Chinese connoisseurs have been distinguishing between a large, bold, crackle, termed"crab's claw" and a much closer and smaller networktermed"fish roe" crackle. The former developed first, and wasaccentuated with black pigment: the latter, developing at a later stage, wascolored red. On Ge ware sometimes a combination of both are found. Crazing ofthe glaze of some excavated wares might not be intentional, but the result ofburial. Crackled porcelain typically also occurs as a defect when the ceramicpiece is not fired at high enough temperature, but remains somewhat soft. Adull sound- no ring- when a dish is tapped plus crackles clearly points at itbeing somewhat underfired. Swatow-wear: A large family of export

I do wish everyone the Very Best of luck winning the auctions. Description Up for auction is a Fine and Authentic Chinese Late Ming to Early Qing Dynasty Archaic Car Figural Group. The Figure has a great and very ... moreinteresting period design. The Figure is Fully Guaranteed to be Authentic Jade. And an Authentic period example, so please bid with Full Confidence. I have seen some similar figures like this in high end auction catalogues, but this is the first one of this quality I have personally sold. The Figure has one of the most interesting Chinese archaic carved designs I have seen with the smaller cat wrapped around the larger cat with elongated neck, and a really interesting design. I was told the figure is more likely a later Ming than earlier Qing example, but I will let you decide for yourself. As you can see I have attached a picture of a similar example offered at Sotheby’s last year. However I think this example is somewhat more interesting, and this figures very light green and russet jade color is more desirable than the one they offered. The Figure could use a cleaning, but I would never touch anything like this. The Figure is in very fine original condition with no damage, repairs, or losses. The Figure displays very nicely measuring 2 1/8 inches long, by 1 1/2 inches wide, and it 1/2 inches thick. The figure came from the estate on this carved wood stand which compliments t

Lost-wax cast In this sculpture. Manjushri holds a sword in his primary right hand, and a volume of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, which rests on a small lotus, in his left. Remnants of a bow and arrow can be seen in his secondary hands, and the combination of the four implements identify the sculpture as a Tikshna-Manjushri, a manifestation that refers to the bodhisattva's quick wits and further elucidates his position as an embodiment of spiritual wisdom. The inscription at the ... morefront of the lotus pedestal indicates that it was cast during the reign of the Yongle emperor, who is known to have followed later Esoteric or Tibetan Buddhist practices and to have sponsored the production of numerous sculptures in a style derived from India and the Himalayas. Ming Dynasty Hoi An Hoard Shipwreck Porcelain Charger Bird Plate
One of the rarest. Most spectacular ceramics from the famous Hoi An cargo. An exceptional. Large Ancient Ming Dynasty charger(serving plate) of Vietnamese origin, dating to approximately 1400 AD; a sea salvaged and officially recorded piece from the famous Hoi-An Shipwreck. The charger is of robust form. With ring base, flaring walls and thick, collared rim. The interior of the piece is decorated with two songbirds perched on a flowering branch, painted in blue on white with added enamel work in places. This is one of the rarest scenes known from the Hoi An. The underside is adorned with cafe-au lait slip. This rare piece has a wonderful. Romantic provenance. It was excavated from the important Hoi-An shipwreck. The Hoi-An was a huge, overloaded trading ship that sank in the mid 15th Century, probably due to a catastrophic typhoon. The ship ... morewas carrying a substantial cargo of High Quality Vietnamese Ming export porcelain. Consequently, legitimately recorded pieces such as the present example are finite in supply and represent a fantastic investment opportunity at present. Diameter: 13 3/4 inches. Condition: Unrestored. Minor chip as shown. Authenticity All items are unconditionally guaranteed to be Authentic as described. For added security we offer a full money

Rare Antique Chinese 17th 18th century Ming Qing Dynasty Gold Brocade Silk Panel
Rare Antique Chinese 1 6 th-18th century Ming- Qing Dynasty Gold B rocade Silk Panel Search Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Extremely Rare Antique Chinese 16th-18th century Ming- Qing Dynasty brocade silk panel finely woven with gold thread. Adorned with four roundels depicting four-clawed Principal Celestial Long Dragons chasing the flaming pearl, within clouds with a recurrent pattern of Precious Things(Babao) including flaming pearls, Pair of Books and Pair of Rhinoceros Horns. All patterned in multicolored silk, richly woven in gold against a Dark blue background. Since this Brocade silk woven with gold is very shiny we weren’t able to take proper photographs, the pictures don’t justify the extremely high quality and rich colors of this fabric, which in fact, looks much better, showing brighter, richer colors and ... morefiner details. This particular Damask Silk is a master piece of Chinese art. Heavily woven in gold and with the four-Clawed Dragons which was typically strictly reserved for imperial nobility and high-ranking officials. It was an expensive luxury fabric, most likely made during the 17th century. Similar types of Chinese Silk brocades dating to the 16th-17th century are published in the book"Silks for Thrones and Altars" by Myrna Myers, dated to the Ming and early Qing Dynasty. However to be safe we are dating this panel to the 17th-18th century. This Rare Chinese Silk Brocade came from an old Canadian collection of Oriental Art. With other textiles, ceramic, jades and Chinese antiques, which we are in the process of photographing and placing for sale for the first time. Due to the fact that the market is flooded by reproductions of Chinese antiques. Which for inexperienced collectors look the same as the authentic objects, we would like to inform our clients that this is a 100% authentic Chinese Qing Dynasty 17th-18th century antique and not a reproduction, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
