Marvelous large Chinese vase Qianlong mark, Xianfeng, Tongzhi or Guangxu period
This vase is absolutely gorgeous. There are warriors riding horses and an elephant, warriors on foot with a foo dog, I don´t really know what story the pictures are telling, but the painting is just stunning! The vase has two chips to the mouth, top rim and there is one additional 5cm long hairline to one of the chips, they can easily be restored. There is a Qianlong mark in red to the base and I believe that the vase is from the second half of the 19th c. It is 44 cm high and the base has a diameter of 12,5cm. Unfortunately the grisaille decorated vase has a light hairline to the rim which can only be noticed upon very close inspection. However I did see a very similar if not identical vase recently sell online. They said is was a republic period piece, and is sold for just over 700 dollars. So even with the damage I think it should still be a desirable find. The Jar is a truly fine and beautiful piece. The Jar was documented in the collection as being ... morean earlier 18thc example. Which I believe to be a correct dating. The Jar is truly stunning and when you see an authentic period piece like this it is quite apparent compared to later examples, for individuals that know what they are looking at. The Jar has a great period design with intricately detailed lotus all around. The way that the rich and vibrant blue color sits of the white porcelain is truly amazing. Unfortunately as you can see the Jar is damaged and has some losses to the top rim, and to its original lid. It is being sold in as is condition. However I was told it is extremely hard to find period examples of this size and still retaining their original lid. I was told if the jar was in better condition it would quite easily bring 15-20 thousand at one of the higher end sales, if not more on a good day. So I believe the Jar should still be a desirable find and would be worth restoring. It also still displays beautifully as it is, and at the very least is a very fine period study example. This item is one of the most beautiful vase of my collection. It is in astonishingly perfect condition and boast its impressive color all over its surface. Red dots are placed all over its surface evenly and it comes mild brown whit a distance. The case was made only for this item and used for preserving the artifacts of before Qing dynasty( Song. Yuan, Ming and Qing) from invasion of Japan army in 1932 and, in 1948, the containers were moved to Taiwan from fire of the Chinese Civil War. On the seal. Offered is a lovely oct agonal plate of Famille Rose Chinese porcelain with a courting scene. Within an underglaze blue border. All highlighted with gold. This is a classic garden scene with chr ysanthemum flowers. Scrolling vines, elaborate gates and rooftop around the summer house. Table with vase and flowers, flowing robe s of silk. And a lively pair of ducks. This plate is in excellent original condition. With no cracks, chips or restoration. This superb pair of Chinese famille rose cups are decorated with an enamel painted scene of Jia Chang stamping his left foot to call the chickens in a setting of blue rocks and peonies. Jia Chang was a trainer of fighting cocks in the Tang dynasty and was so talented that the emperor Xuanzong employed him to train the imperial fighting cocks. In the scene he is shown facing the rooster with a hen and four chicks being shown on the reverse beneath a poetic inscription. The Tea Caddy jar also has a lid which fits the jar perfectly and is possibly original. The Jar has chips around the outer rims which is very commonly found on examples of this age. But overall for its age the Jar is in good untouched original condition with no cracks, or repairs. The Tea Caddy Jar displays nicely measuring 4-3/4 inches tall by 3-3/4 inches wide. The Incense Vase is a very interesting example. ... moreAnd this is the first one like this I have seen in person other than in books and high end auction catalogues. I was told by the estate the deceased collector considered the piece to be an Important and Very Rare example, and when it was purchased many years ago he paid right around 8000 dollars for it. I was told the inscription on the side indicates the piece was made in the 17th to 18th century, which is well worth looking into. I cannot read the inscription myself and this is just what I have been told, so I will let you ultimately decide its age and value for yourself and bid accordingly. The Vase is finely carved throughout with a great rocky mountainous landscape design including figures all around with some playing a board game, and has pierced bamboo trees, pine trees, and other interesting features. The Vase ends are removable and reveal holes which I think is were the incense would be places inside. As you can see the bamboo portion of the vase itself does have some cracks, which are all original natural age shrinkage cracks, which I am sure would be found on any earlier antique example like this. This auction is for a very fine antique Chinese Porcelain Teapot. This teapot has a Qianlong mark to the bottom. But dates from the late 19th/ early 20th century. The form is very fine with a particularly nice spout and a gourd form finial. The painting is very well done and the teapot is signed to the left of the scene. The back of the teapot has Chinese characters. The teapot is in excellent condition with the only thing of note being a very small bruise/glaze crack to the rim(see 6th photo) This fine teapot measures 9.5 cm. 3 3/4" tall including the top. The Censer is very finely carved to both sides with Chinese figural and scenic designs. The Censer also has a silver mounted top rim. The silver rim is unmarked which is commonly found on earlier examples. But does test to be solid sterling silver throughout. The Censer is also superbly carved to the base side with a figural dragon and Qianlong mark, along with Chinese marks to the side as well. The Censer shows its age with a shrinkage crack to the base and some wear throughout. But overall the Censer is in good original condition with no losses, or repairs.
