This item is a beatiful two-tones celadon vase. I believe this vase gould be Korean but I am not for certain. It could be Japanese. This vase is signed on the base in red and black underglaze lettering. This vase stands 7" inches high and is in good condition. It has no cracks or chips. It does have a fine crazing in the glaze common to older pottery items. The deeper green areas are incised on the vase. This vase is decoratted in four panels of differing designs. this is an exquisite handmade Korean vase made from brass. Mother of pearl, abalone, and lacquer. it has exquisite ornate detailing with beautifully inlaid abalone and mother of pearl. It is a scene of 2 birds surrounded by a nice floral design. the black cover is a lacquer finish that has a nice shine to it. The base of the pot is made from brass and very strong. it is stamped on the bottom and signed by maker on the side. K.Y. Kim inchon there are no dents or dings in the pot. Up for an auction is a very rare bronze medallion which was made in 1730 during Joseon Dynasty of Korea. This is a bronze medalion tag entitling government official to commandeer two horses when traveling. This horse medallion. Called Mapae, is an identifcation tag used During Joseon Dynasty that enabled the bearer to use government horses. The medallion is featured by the number of horses, from one to ten horses, and the number of horses on the medallion represents the rank of government official. This is what I believe to be a Korean Folk Art painting or Min hw a. From the Chosun or Joseon period. It appears to have been painted on a thin fabric or rice paper and th e n(poorly) attached to a thick brown paper-like backing. The colors are still bright though and there is so much going on in this I wish I knew what it's all about! Any information would be greatly appreciated! It measures 41-1/2" x 23-1/4" and is unframed. Please note the small areas of damage in the pictures and there are a few stains. I purchased at Ivey Selkirk, an upscale St. Louis auction house, several years ago a box of Antique Asian clothing and shoes. Most of the shoes(some bound feet) have been sold and I am now listing the clothing, each piece individually so check my other listings. This item is a wonderful long robe. The pale green fabric is silk. and is ilk with a little different weave. The collar area is a cream silk. Matching green silk tie closure. There is some staining which looks to be water marks in the shoulder area and discoloration in the underarm area(see ... morephoto's) Dark discoloration on front side in an area about 3" long. I believe I have photographed all the areas of concern- see photo's- they possibly could come out with expert fabric cleaning.There is small underarm seam repair needed. There are no torn areas. The fibers seem to be all in tack with no torn areas or stains.remember this is an antique ... morepiece and I believe I have noted everything. I am no expert in Asian Antique Clothing. I purchased at Ivey Selkirk, an upscale St. Louis auction house, several years ago a box of Antique Asian clothing and shoes. Most of the shoes(some bound feet) have been sold and I am now listing the clothing, each piece individually so check my other listings. This item is a wonderful skirt. Green and black silk with beige linen like waistband and lining. The skirt has two panels in green framed with an embroidered ribbon like material. The panels have gorgeous embroidery detail including the forbidden stitch. I believe this was possibly a wedding skirt as the embroidery has two bird(love birds? The embroidery is fabulous ... moreand has some copper colored metallic thread adding to the beauty. Both of the embroidered areas of the panels are in excellent antique condition with only one or two loose threads. On one of the panels on the upper green silk portion their is a small match head sized pick(barely a hole) The green and black pleated section of the skirt has flowers and what looks like butterflies embroidered and scattered around. The entire garment is hand sewn. The only real issue is a stain(which I believe can be removed with care in a dry clean process) in the plain panel next to the wrap closure. Some of the fibers on the ribbon trim are weak. But still look great. Bear in mind this is an antique. For display or to wear this area could be covered with the wrap. Measures 43" flat and length is 37" A wonderful piece of history! The skirt was wrapped in archival paper and will be mailed in same. From what I've read the"U.S. Camillus N.Y. identifies it as a MKII made post WWII(WWII blades have USMC or USN on them) and pre 1972 when the"N.Y. was dropped.
