Beautiful Wanli period Chinese Ming plate with precious objects
A beautiful Wanli period blue and white plate with precious objects. This plate is very rare and unique and the condition is ok. It has a 1 cm chip with a 4 cm hairline and some minor rim frits along the rim. It has no otehr chips cracks or hairlines so the overall condition is fine, the glaze is in a marvelous condition, see pic. no 2. The plate is 20,2cm in diameter and 2,9cm high. A rare Chinese Ming, Wanli period lotus shaped vase 16th c
Very rare lotus shaped vase that sometime in the past had the neck broken and cut off and was made to a lamp. There is a hole to the base and as you can see the neck has been grinded down to fit as a lamp. I believe that the neck could be restored fully by a proffessional restorer. Still the vase is in a nice condition and there are some rim frits common for the age and there are two small chips to the lotus leafes. See pics. You can see that there are grit to the footrim coming from the burning process, but most of it has been ground off to make a nice stabil base for the lamp. It is very rare and this is the only one that i´ve seen ever! I believe its a Wanli period piece and it measures 12 cm high and the foot rim is 10,5cm in diameter. The Vase shows some wear consistent with its age and has an old repair to the top rim, which could be restored if desired. Vase is hand painted in"wucai" fashion with under glaze cobalt blue and enamels. The bottom is marked with a Ming"Wanli" emperor reign auspicious mark inside double blue rings and a"CHINA" stamped mark. This came off of an old lamp from the 1920-30's so I assume that this is at least that old. The shape is rather interesting and is like a cylinder or drum shape and the top opening is like that seen on Meiping shaped vases. I have never seen another in this shape. It is very heavy for it's size. About 5 lbs. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It, of course has been drilled for lamp. This Chinese vase is decorated in the Wucai(five colors) style. It likely dates to the Wanli or transitional period. The vase is 6 ½ inches tall and 4 ¼ inches in diameter at its widest point. The vase is decorated with flowers and either foo dogs or a type of mythical beast in different colors. We believe the vase is from the period mentioned but we believe it has been redecorated. Most likely in the 19 th century. The green and red enamels used are very thick. The vase has a lot of crazing and has two hairline cracks. One of the hairlines goes through the mouth.

A'provincial' Ming dynasty Chinese Wanli period- dynasty blue and white porcelain bowl dating to c.1600 +/ Traditionally authors describe these" Minyao(folk kiln) or provincial Southern Chinese" porcelain wares as Swatow but it's likely that a majority of them were manafactured in the southern Fujian region of China and are now called'Minnan wares' They were exported for use by families throughout South East Asia. The bowl is decorated with the typical Ming Wanli bird on a branch with peach blossom and a moon. Decoration in the raised inner central medallion: peach blossom and leaves. There is NO restoration on this bowl: usual glaze crazing and glaze impurities(see images to see the glaze faults and condition description) The bowl rings well when tapped. Base is marked as in the photograph(blessing for good life similar to Fu character) and glazed. The bowl has wear associated with its age. Some scratches to the glaze especially internally; tiny minor chips on the footrim and rim(see images) and the usual thinning of the glaze and'moth-eaten' rim with two tiny chips to glaze. No cracks or hairlines; no damage or restoration other than that described above. Points of thinning to body on manafacture show as minor defects to ligh as photographed. Glaze has lovely lustre. Slightly matt and uneven with some areas quite thick below the upper rim. Inside the bowl the glaze is quite scratched from use as usual. I received it and several other pieces I am listing, from a lady who collected Chinese porcelain and decide to give up many vintage/antique pieces. The box is in wonderful condition. No chips, cracks, or crazing. The glaze is nice and glossy. The detail is very nice-the sides of the box depict a man and his young servant traveling by donkey. Lots of pretty detail showing a bridge, mountains, trees and homes. The lid shows the traveler resting while his servant comes carrying a tray with tea. The box measures approximately 7 1/2" x 4" x 2 3/4" This box will be a nice accent piece for any home decor. I don't know anything about Chinese pottery. These boxes have appeared at least since the Ming Dynasty, Wanli period. I looked up the maker's mark-as best as I can determine, one of the symbols represents the year of the rat. Check out my last two pics-the one pic is a close-up of the maker's mark inside the lid of the box. The last pic is of a Chinese vase with a very similar mark to my porcelain box. Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Description: This sturdy Chinese Blue and White Basin has an apocryphal six-character Wanli reign mark within a double circle on its base but more likely dates to the early to mid-Qing dynasty. The interior of the basin is painted with a qilin seated amid pine. Rocks and plantain. The qilin was said to be a mythical creature which was both kind and shy. It was so highly respectful of all life forms that it hesitated to walk on the earth for fear of trampling smaller living creatures. This basin has a brown rim which I believe is a copper coating. Its glaze is finely crackled especially on the base where age discoloration has given the crackles even greater definition. Most of the surface staining is probably due to constant usage. Decorated with a garden scene with birds Kraak porcelain is a type of Chinese export porcelain produced mainly from the Wanli reign(1573–1620) until around 1640. Wanli period 1573-1620. Recovered from the Binh Thuan Shipwreck discovered off the south coast of Vietnam in 2001. diameter: 10 5/8" Large double phoenix decorated blue& white dish of the type known as Swatow ware from Zhangzhou. The center features a design in a strong cobalt blue with two intertwined Phoenix birds within a wide border of five lozenge shaped and flower filled medallions set on a scale ground. The Swatow ceramics were commonly made for export to the South East Asian market. A common feature of this type of ceramics is the sandy kiln grit that adheres to the glaze on the underside and which is seen on the present dish.
