Quality mirror pair of PBR/Akasuke Vases.Marked"SILVER" Description:Fine quality mirror pair of vintage or antique Japanese pigeon blood red/akasuke cloisonne vases.Each of which is marked"SILVER" on it's bottom metal rim.Each vase also has the same number,which is most likely an acquisition/accession number,etched/scratched into it's underside.Each vase is comprised of red translucent enamel with opaque,silver wired enamel floral decorations,over a stippled silver foil.The foil is a solid piece,rather than a patchwork,and each of the vases stippled foil is further decorated with a bird in flight among bamboo trees.The first 4 photos show the entire circumference of each of the vases. Dimensions:Each vase is 7 3/16" tall.And about 4" wide,at their widest points.One vase weighs 1 lb.5.5 oz.s,and the other ... moreweighs 1 lb.6.4 oz.s.The variance in their weight,their height,and the use of silver as a substrate indicates to me that these are not production pieces,and that they most likely date to the late nineteenth or early twentieth century,and were almost certainly made prior to WW II. Condition:Their silver rims are tarnished.And the upper rim/mount of one is slightly dipped in a small area(the enamel looks perfect under this area)There is also some slight shelf wear on the undersides of the bottom metal rims/mounts.The enamel on both vases appears flawless at first glance.Minute inspection turned up a minute flea bite on each vase,in the clear red background area,and a few extremely tiny wear marks,which show as slightly darker areas,with the larger of them being perhaps 1/32" long and high.The two other marks are dots the size of the tip of a fine(tiny and thin) needle point.The pieces are otherwise flawless. Vintage Cloisonne Bell I found this beautiful. Old cloisonne bell at an estate sale. The gentleman collected many pieces from trips to China and Japan. So it is likely that this bell is from one or the other! It is in great vintage condition with no chips or cracks. The main color of the bell is black. It has different designs that wrap around and I took a photo of each side so that you can see all the details. The clapper appears to be Jade. The bell is 3.5" tall x 1.75" wide. The sides are decorated with openwork cloisonne enamel to depict scrolling foliage. The raised cloissone surface with gilt copper metal ground. T he underside with small aperture for display. Japanese Namikawa Style Cloisonne Enamel Vase
This is a vase that looks and feels much like a piece made by Namikawa Yasuyuki. The quality of this vase is very fine. But I believe it to have be made by Honda or Shibata(a student of Namikawa) The vase is very heavy and has thick glossy enamel. At 7 1/4 inches tall it is large for a vase of this style. Condition is very good but there is a slight flaw in the enamel that can be seen in the last image.

Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Ando Sato Era Pigeon Blood Vintage Estate Find I just purchased this pair of vintage Japanese cloisonné vases from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The vases are a nice example of vintage. Perhaps 1930's ginbari foil enamel work. The face of each vase is decorated with an image(slightly different) of two intertwined rose blossoms. The enamel work shows rich color, fine detail throughout and subtle shading. The ground is done in pigeon blood/ deep crimson with rich color accentuating the bamboo and fine dimpled design. The silver rims have a warm original patina. The vases measure 4 7/8" high and 3" wide at the shoulder. The bases are unmarked. One vase is in excellent condition with no damage or noted surface wear, the second vase has a impact point on the back with a number of fractures ... moreradiating from the center(pictured, you're essentially buying one good with the damaged added as a gift) These handsome ginbari pigeon blood vases would make a nice addition to any collection of vintage Japanese cloisonné or Asian decorative enamels. Rim, and base, elaborately decorated with polychrome yusen enamels. Two black ground panels on the main body are covered with colorful butterflies, peonies, a bird, wisteria flowers, blue and white irises, and a big butterfly. The brown speckled enamel areas between the panels are decorated with multicolored paulownia flowers known in Japan as kiri. The neck is covered with floral shippo motifs. AMAZING HUGE ANTIQUE CLOISONNE & WOOD HANDPAINTED GOLD Japanese enamel bento box
This is a Japanese Black Enamel Antique Box-with cloisonne panel and gold gilding. It was made between 1850 and 1900. It is in extremely good condition despite it's age. I have been told it was used for a dowry and I have also been told it was for wedding gifts. I am not certain of it's original use but whatever the case this was/is a VERY special box. The gold design is a little worn and there is one chip about an inch long on the edge of the bottom base. It has a few minor very shallow dings but not the size you can mention. The cloisonne panel is in perfect condition and the design in on IT are just gorgeous. The panel and the paintings on all four sides and the top are beautiful works of art. It is spectacular. I have had it for I cant remember how long. But it has always been the heart of my collection; of cloisonne, of boxes ... moreand of antiques. It always amazes me.The design in the wood is etched on the more"important" part of the designs; the lotus flowers and the BAT designs are both traditional Asian designs from as far back as one can go.The width is 12 inches across and 7 inches wide and 6 inches high. The wood, in which the ornate designs are painted in gold guild ON, I think is hardwood. It is still straight, not buckled or warped after all these years. It has kept the gorgeous decorations very well preserved, with very little loss. There is even some green pigment-on the floral designs to make shading, and some red which appear to have been in some of the stems and the border and a few other areas but have mostly faded over the years. There are a few tiny chips but they are so small they can not be measured and a few cracks in black enamel which also is too vague to describe in minute details.Please look at the pictures closely-the box is in really good condition. I will ship overseas and will make sure there is some sort of confirmation of delivery. High gloss white enamel“snow” flows over wired blossoms on these large. Very rare and extraordinary metal cloisonné vases. Each vase with its unusual bulbous shape is brass rimmed top and bottom with metal impressed stamp on bottom of one vase as shown. Superb JAPANESE CLOISONNE monochrome RED ENAMEL with SOLID SILVER base
Here's a superb example of a red monochrome cloisonne vase with solid silver throughout. It is an incredible and very unique example of akasuke shippo probably by Ota Jinnoei. The inventor of the technique. I've had a few of his vases, and this one vase suggests his work. It is unsigned, so I can only say t hat it's attributed to him. The shape is a classic compressed bottle form vase. With perfect silver rims. It stands 5" tall and is 3-1/4" across the widest point(12.7cm by 8.25cm) This is a supreme example of Japanese Golden Age cloisonne from the Meiji Period. I would date this piece to the 1890's to the 1920s. It would make a great display piece and an incredible addition to your collection. Here's a rare ginbari style green cloisonne vase with goldfish swimming against an engraved underwater scene as a background. It has the most beautiful deep green and orange transparent enamel you ever saw. And is incredible to view in person. Beautiful JAPANESE CLOISONNE VASE wireless Cloisonné with cranes tsuru
Here's a great example of an impressive Japanese partial wireless cloisonne vase. In Gary Yoshino's book Japanese Cloisonne Enamels on page 158. There is a nearly identical vase that's also unsigned and is described as"Vase with globular. Near spherical body and short ne ck. Delicately decorated with a group of wireless tsuru(cranes) within a delicately graduating shade of pink background, finely worked wire used to highlight the birds' bill and eyes" Definitely from a world class cloisonne artist from the Golden Age of cloisonne in the Meiji Period of Japan. I would date this vase to between 1900 and 1920. It stands 3.75" tall(9.52cm) and has cracks to bottom. JAPANESE CLOISONNE CHARGER with men in boat against ROCKY CLIFF No reserve
Here's an incredible cloisonne charger with two men in a boat at sea. Near a rocky cliff with trees and birds. The background is a very consistent and lovely sky blue ground without wires, which was a high achievement in enamel and only successfully accomplished by the best makers. The boat and waves show partially hidden wires called subsurface wires, which was an invention of Namikawa Sosuke's Shippo Gaisha in the 1880s(see page 154 in the book The Art of Japanese Cloisonné Enamel by Schneider) The shading in the rocky cliff and tree branches is incredible, and the whole scene is basically done without a lot of wires. The wires that are there seem only to be for highlights. This charger is unsigned, but shows all the signs of being made by a very talented artist. Early JAPANESE CLOISONNE CHARGER with FLOWERS and WASP or BEE flying above NR
Here's an incredible cloisonne plate with flowers and a wasp or bee flying above with his hanging legs. I have never seen another one like this in all my years of collecting cloisonne. This is a very early example of Japanes cloisonne in the Chinese style. Using doro enamels. It reminds me of a Kinkozan piece, but it is unsigned so I can't be positive. It is 6" across(15.24cm) The edge shows amazing detail in the wirework, and was obviously done by an extremely talented artisan. Each flower is very well shaded and unique for such an early work. There are very fine and small craquelure in the sky blue ground, but that is a feature of early work, and not considered damage. Early cloisonne artists strived to create a piece of art showing their control of the enamel and used large expanses of enamel without wires. There was a tradeoff ... morewhen it can to large expanses of enamel, as they were prone to these fine cracks. The lack of large cracks in these early works are highly desirable and the little fine ones are not a detraction in any way. A pair of plates similar to this one was offered at Bonhams last year with an estimate of $6000 to $8000. It is 6" across(15.24cm) Don't let this one get away. There is a colorful ho bird of paradise on a goldstone background interspersed with various chrysanthemum blossoms. Unfortunately, as pointed out, there is some damage- the plate must have been dropped at some time(one scallop is slightly bent) resulting in enamel loss. I have pointed out the missing pieces. Vintage Japanese GINBARI FOILED SILVER PIGEON BLOOD RED CLOISONNE Vase- This vase measures approximately 3-1/2" tall; 3" at its widest part; 1-7/8" base diameter; 1-1/2" outside diameter top; 1-1/8" inside diameter. It is GORGEOUS clear pigeon blood red enamel. The underlying silver foil is textured with bamboo leaves& stalks as well as a flying bird. One side has a very pretty flower- I think the larger flower is a lily. The top and bottom rims appear to be silver- they do not attract to a magnet. The rims could use a cleaning by the successful bidder. Genuine JAPANESE AKASUKE CLOISONNE by ANDO with BASSE TAILLE engraving SILVER
Here's a superb and rare JAPANESE CLOISONNE AKASUKE BASSE-TAILLE VASE by ANDO. The gorgeous red translucent enamel covers the silver engraved body and the design is birds perched in a bamboo forest. This deep red color of enamel is sometimes referred to as pigeon blood. The inside of the vase is even enameled with this beautiful red enamel. And the whole vase is very heavy for its size. It is 6" high(15.24cm) The silver base is signed with the ANDO mark. Which is documented in every book related to cloisonne. According to the Japanese Cloisonne book by Frederic Schneider, this vase dates to between 1902 and 1930(see information below) This is an extremely rare piece. And should not be be missed. A beautiful Japanese cloisonne box from the maker INABA(marked) This box measures 5.25 X 4 X 1.25 inches; has vivid flowwers and what looks like a bird-of-paradise and cherry blossoms. The interior of the box is in a silver plating and the lid has a deeply cut engraving of Mount Fujiyama. The bottom of the b ox shows a mountain and water scene with a traditional Japanese house among trees on an island. A full piano hinge is installed with two side stops to hold the lid vertically when opened. There are four felt"dots" at the bottom corners to protect the box and the furniture it sits on. In excellent condition and heavily built. All four sides of the box have cherry blossoms.

This is a blood red floral vase, measuring 8 1/2" high, and 4" across the widest part of the vase. Wireless Cloisonne blood red with 2 birds standing on tree branch, maybe a cherry blossom tree. THis is in perfect condition, and the stickers are in perfect condition. This is signed in gold on the side at the bottom, this can be seen in the first pic. This auction is for a larger.Vintage,premium quality Ando cloisonne wireless vase and it's wooden storage box,or tomobako,and a plaque with script in gold upon it's face.The vase is 9 5/8" tall,and about 5" wide,at it's widest point.It weighs 2lb.s,15.8 oz.s.When packed in it's box,everything weighs 4 lb.s,9.7 oz.s.It's wooden storage box is 11 15/16" tall,and 6 3/16" wide,by 6 1/4" deep.The piece also comes with a plaque,with script on it in gold colored ink or gilt.The plaque is black colored,and is most likely made of some sort of composite material.The plaque is 4 5/8"x 4 3/4" x 3/8" thick.The inclusion of the plaque with this vase may indicate that it was a presentation or a commemorative piece. The decoration on the piece.Which is musen,or wireless,is floral in nature,and it ... moreencompasses the entire circumference of the vase.It appears to contain 5 flowers;3 larger and 2 smaller ones,with intertwining foliage in between.Not being a botanist,I am unsure what the main flower is,although to my untrained eye it looks like it may be an orchid.It's flanked by 2 larger and two smaller flowers,which look to me like they may be roses. The enamel on the vase appears to be flawless with just casual observation.When I took it outdoors to examine it in the strong sunlight.When held obliquely(at an angle so as to see the surface of the piece) I could see a tiny light scratch in the background area,about 1/16 of an inch long,and perhaps a hairs width wide.About an inch to the right of the this mark,I could see 2 small areas that appear a slightly bit darker than the surrounding enamel.They are each about 1/2" tall and long,and look to be very slight discolorations,which are of a flat color and not iridescent.I also saw 1 tiny watermark,about the size of a sharp pencil point tip,which shows as a light bluish color,nearer to the bottom portion of the vase.These minute,extremely superficial anomalies,were all too tiny to accurately photograph,and are mentione

This auction is for a vintage.Larger,Ando 4 Hawaiian Orchid Japanese cloisonne musen,or unwired,silver substrate vase.It has an Ando mark on it's underside,in the enamel,and it is marked for sterling silver on it's outer rim.The vase is 10 1/4" tall,and is 4 7/8" wide,at it's widest point.It weighs 2 lb.s,10.9 oz.s.The enamel is in good vintage condition,as it appears flawless at first glance.Close scrutiny shows 2 tiny flea bites,one of which is about the size of 2 fleabites together,which are nearer to the bottom of the vase.There is a cluster of 3 light,small wear marks on the backside,2 of which are about 1/16" long,with the other about 2/16" long,just an inch or so below the top mount.The enamel is otherwise perfect.The sterling silver mounts are slightly tarnished,with some slight wear as well,more so ... moreon the underside of the vase.The top mount has a tiny nick at it's extreme outer edge.An exceptionally beautiful and well crafted piece. Very Nice Set of Japanese Cloisonne Plates
You are bidding on a VERY NICE set of Japanese Ando Cloisonne Plates. I work with a man from Japan and he said these are called"Celebration Plates" and pink and white are very good colors in the Japanese culture. The plates are in very good condition. The white plate has a small dark spot near the center underneath the glazing I believe was a bubble that popped during the firing. The back sides have some light surface scratches and scuffing. The blue banner in the corner of the lid has japanese characters on it. The largest on is the mark for Ando Corporation. I think the top line is the actual company name. antique Japanese cloisonne tiny tea pot
Offered is a tiny tea pot that I believe is Japanese cloisonné but I will leave that final conclusion up to the bidder as I am not an expert here. The teapot is part of a collection I inherited from my parents. It measures approximately 2.25 high by 3.35 from tip to spout. It has a slight lean forward that appears to be the way it was manufactured as there is no sign of compression or loss of the cloisonné. On the bottom there are some micro spots not covered by cloisonné again from the time of manufacture not damage. Thanks for looking.
