I bought it from a lady at an antique fair who acquired it in the 1960's from a Chinese market and stored it flat and out of sunlight as soon as it came back to the UK and remained there until i bought it. CHINESE ORIENTAL round DOILEY TABLE RUNNER metallic embroidery silk brocade
This unique doiley measures 16.5" 42cm) in diameter. It is embroidered with very fine gold metallic threads in a beautiful swirly design with graceful dragons and birds(cranes? all around. The center circle has a Chinese symbol but I do not know what it means. It is all in different shades of gold silk. With a border all around of floral silk damask. Some of the dragons have muted dark green threads on their bodies. Around the damask border is a black/gold silk edging and a narrow salmon pink silk piping in the inner circle(photo 4) The back is also a pale gold silk with the swastika design. Antique Chinese Embroidery Badge Glass& Wood Tray Blue& White Florals Presented is a piece of Chinese embroidery that has been framed in glass and wood and made into a tray. The badge/embroidery is very old/antique and likely dates from the mid 1800s and could even be older than this. The tray was likely made in the 1920s. The embroidery would have been used on traditional Chinese clothing to show the rank of someone. It features beautiful blue and white floral designs. It has since been preserved into a tray framed in wood and glass. The tray features brass handles that can be removed. These handles will be removed when the tray is shipped. You will need to screw them back onto the tray when you receive it. The tray measures 23 1/2 inches long(including the handles) and 9 3/4 inches wide. The tray stands 1 1/2 inches tall. Elegant red Chinese embroidery banner decorated with different gods and large Chinese letters. The workmanship on the banner is amazing and extremely well made. My best opinion as to the age of the banner is late 19th Century circa 1870s– 1890s. The banner is silk. Please preview all the pictures carefully. For its age the banner is in great condition but it has been worn down by age and the colors have mixed in some areas which happen when washing the banner. Please preview the pictures to see the true condition of the banner. The banner can be professionally restored if wanted too but I will leave that to the new owner to decide.
