The green is ... moreSooooo much better in person that it's not showing in my photos! I was told that it is an apothecary jar- but it does not have a lid. I'm not so sure that it ever did. Because the mouth flairs out, more like an open jar, and there's no lip etc. to indicate it may have had one. I thought it would make a fabulous vase for you, or a perfect open jar to put your balls, shells.you name it, this jar will make them shine! It's an antique blown glass piece, and the color is a lovely bright light green. It's also large, measuring 11 5/8" tall, 7" diameter at the mouth and 6" diameter at the base. It's heavy, weighing in at a solid 3 lbs. The glass is thick, and it's filled with anomolies original to the making- I'm trying to show in in my close ups, even holding it up to the sky doesn't show you very well, though. There's lots of lines(the glass is very wavy inside) bubbles and burps, even on the base. That being said, there is absolutely NO damage at all to this piece- it's in amazing condition, and just drop dead gorgeous! Please ask if you have any questions. This bottle has just an amazing industrial steapunk look to it. I believe it was originally used for Kerosene. The bottle is glass and then it is in a metal holder with a metal cap and handle. Beautiful Early 19th C. Emerald Green Lacy Glass Cream Jug With Applied Handle This is a nice early 19th C. mold blown flint lacy pattern glass cream jug with applied handle and panel cut neck. In a beautiful emerald green. It measures 4 1/2" high, and 4 3/4" across from handle to spout. It is in excellent condition with no chips, or cracks. There are a few shallow flakes to the inner edge of where the lower part of the handle was applied, done in the making not damage, there are no cracks or issues with the handle. It is a nice heavy piece, and I can see the remnants of the circular pontil mark on the base. VINTAGE GREEN GLASS VINEGAR JUG WITH STOPPER - 2 SEAMS, BUBBLES & UNEVEN BOTTOM
Up for auction is a very old green glass oil/vinegar jug with the original glass stopper. The jug and the stopper both have 2 seams. And there are bubbles in both. The bottom of the jug has much more glass on one side(hopefully my photos show this) The spout has no seams, and was perhaps hand blown. The opening for the fluid to come out is very tiny. It measures 6" tall, and is about 4" wide at the widest area in the middle. This item is in perfect condition. And other than a little cleaning, is ready to be used now. I believe this jug belonged to the mother of the woman I mention below. As with all of my other collectible items. This belongs to the woman in the last photo, who is now 99 years old, and has just entered an assisted living facility. She was a nurse for her working life in Canada, and England. Item is in good condition. Marked viersa on the rim. Has quite a few flaws in the glass: such as air bubbles some small some large. No cracks or chips does need some more cleaning I wiped the outside of the glass and rinsed the inside with water I done no major scrubbing. The glass looks like there are ripples in it or dimpled throughout the jug/jar. The is a seem one on each side. Item measures approx 22" tall and has a large diameter. Italian winemakers fill these with wine. Cork the tops and tie them to the tops of their cars. We saw this in the Tuscan countryside in the 1980's. This is a beautiful old piece we hate to part with but we are downsizing big time.The 4th to last picture shows a shield-shaped imperfection I thought was glue residue from a sticker but it is an imperfection on the INSIDE of the jug; the outside is smooth. This is a very Elegant& Genuine piece of late Victorian Enameled Glass. Made into a Claret Jug. The top is a flared shape, which incorporates the'Pourer' + the Original Glass Stopper is a'Swirl' shape. There is a Pontil mark on the bottom[showing it is Hand Made] The Scroll designed Enameling + Dot's is White on the Deep Green coloured Glass.
