Exquisite pair of 19th Century Anglo Irish Claret Jugs. In superb Antique condition. Each jug with stopper measures 9" tall and 5" at the base. Each weighs over 2 lbs. The jugs are clear in color with the slightest tinge of palest lilac in the right light. Beautifully decorated with molded panels. I have included a photograph of the interesting pontil. STUNNING HAND ETCHED GERMAN SYRUP JUG DECANTER W STERLING TOP& HANDLE SIGNED WELCOME. What an incredible piece this is and I cant even begin to guess its age. Obviously comes from a very stately home. This probably hand blown and hand etched jug or decanter is exquisitely hand etched with baskets of flowers on both sides of the piece. It has a beautiful decorative lid. Top and handle, all of which appear to be sterling. It is marked Germany and Sterling. I think it was probably used for syrup. The top of the bottle has been carefully cut away to accomodate the pouring section of the silver top. The workmanship on this piece is amazing as you can no doubt see in the pics provided. It stands just under 6 1/2" tall. That includes the top finial of the lid. The base measures just under 5 1/2" length wise and 3 1/4" deep. There ... moreis a modest reserve on this piece. There is a streak of white running down from the top inside of the bottle. And I think this must come from the material that was used to keep the top in place. I have not tried to wash it out and neither have I cleaned the silver. I would image it will be quite dazzling once its cleaned up. Buyer to pay shipping costs. Thanks for visiting us today. Antique Rubina thumbprint glass Syrup Jug Pitcher w/ Silver plate mount
Hand blown glass with some tiny bubbles/imperfections in glass. No mark on the silver lid. A lot of silver from this estate was James Tufts of Boston, could be his work. No cracks or chips in glass, deep rich color. When lid closes does not perfectly align with bottom, otherwise no nicks or marks on silver. Measures 5 1/2" tall. I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. No returns unlesss item is not as described. This is an older item and therefor is no longer perfect as the day it was made. Hand Blown Amber Glass Victorian Jug Twist Rib Body + Air Bubbles Applied Feet
An interesting antique Victorian hand blown amber glass jug. With multiple design details and a large pontil evident on base. Not marked, probably made in a cottage type English glass refinery. Body is formed with a heavy translucent amber glass with trapped air bubbles and a ribbed textured round base which becomes more pronounced on the thin straight neck. The handle is hand applied and curled. The six leaf shaped feet are also hand applied and have been pressed at the tip with a criss-cross motif. Measures 8.5 inches high. Condition is excellent. There is some slight mineral residue which remains after a gentle cleaning. No damage, breaks or losses. Interesting piece of antique glass which was decorated in the style of the mid to late 19th century Victorian era. Early 1900 Antique Square Glass Bottle Milk JAR w Ledge for Cap, Metal Wire Bail
Antique Milk Bottle: One of the most distinctive features of a milk bottle is the type of seal on the bottle. E arly milk bottles used glass or tin lids to seal the bottle. Bottle Design History: A major drawback of milk bottles with glass or metal lids was the difficulty in cleaning the bottle. The lid and the bail that held them on. Metal parts were prone to corrosion and if the lid was not attached to the bail it was often lost. Thatcher advertisements for the cap seat milk bottle from 1893 claimed that customers would keep bail top milk bottles rather than returning them since they had a reusable cap and could easily be converted to domestic use. Another problem was that metal bail caps were prone to damage in freezing weather. When milk bottles were left on the porch in freezing cold. Milk would expand and bend or break the metal lid ... moresince it was attached to the bottle. A paper cap would simply push out o f the mouth of the bottle. This Bottle: This bottle features a cap seat with a ledge or shoulder for the milk cap to seal on. It appears bottle manufacturers designed their milk bottles with cap seats that would also fit tin caps. A paper published in 1907 by C. C. Johnson concerning the nation's milk supply estimated that 60% of milk bottles in use at that time were equipped with a tin cap as well as a paper cap. Where's the name. Or stamp: Sears. Roebuck and Company advertised milk bottles for sale to large dealers and milk depots- they could stamp the date or other information on the cap. Which would allow them to trace back cases of unsatisfactory milk. This was the start of personalized milk caps. Those milk protector jars will have no patent date on the jar since it was the lid that was patented- not the milk jar. And there you have it- a classic quart milk bottle. If you have questions. Hand painted Folk Art Gallon Jug - Farm Scenes - River - Full Coverage - Look
Hand painted Folk Art Gallon Jug featuring two farm scenes covering the entire gallon jug. Actually it is a four liter jug(135 oz) that I believe once held wine because it is made of green glass and found at a estate sale in Long Islands wine vineyards region. On one side it appears to show a pilgrim carrying wheat by a homestead on a overcast day. On the other side it appears to show a women farmhand carrying a bucket in one hand. Something else balanced on her head by a river I think with a passing ship in the background. Both scenes are separated by trees, the art work is brushed one, colorful with a clear top coat of some kind showing some light browning that does not distract as seen in the pictures from the overall look. It measures 13 x 7 x 7 with the only indication as to the artist being the initials P.V. Offered is an antique barware jigger aka/shot glass. This is clear glass standing 1 3/4" tall with a band of a diamond pattern in the glass and a sterling silver hallmarked outer edge. This primitive demijohn is very rustic. Free blown in an ovoid shape, with a long neck, and an inverted bottom with a large rough and sharp pontil scar. The mouth was handcrafted to a rolled out and folded lip/rim and crudely finished; uneven, waves, dimpled, etc. The rolled rim method was most commonly used in the 1870's and earlier. The bottle has a ton of character and a rustic/crude shaped body; some wavy cooling marks. Vintage Wine Jug In A Woven Basket folk art wine basket
I was told this bottle is from the mid to late 40s. Most likely Italian. I wish I had more info, its a great piece. The bottle sits stationary in the woven basket. It stands 8 1/2 inches tall, a bit over 4 inches at the base. The old green glass seems to be intact, I feel no breaks. The wicker is old and suffers some damage, not enough to distract from the unique beauty of this piece. Two flowers have been woven into the basket portion, time and skill went into this pretty basket. This is a great vintage display piece in good, but not perfect condition.

Antique Vintage Iridescent Brown Glass Jar Jug Vase Art Deco Style
You are bidding on a unique vintage glass jar/jug/vase container. I bought it at an estate sale and could not determine much information about this item from my research(I could not find a marker's mark) It looks art deco to me and I would guess there was originally a cap to this as you look at the lip along the top. I have not cleaned it. It is a heavy piece. Weights about 3.5 pounds, is 10' tall, 6.75' wide, and the neck is 2 7/8' wide. There are seam marks and as you view the jug from the side you see it caves in on one side more than the other. I can only assume this happened during manufacturing, not sure if it is considered a flaw or not. It is in very nice pre-owned vintage condition, no chips, cracks, or repairs. It has a metal handle for carrying or hanging. This is very heavy and makes a beautiful rustic vase which would be lovely hanging in your trees this summer or on your table. This piece dates to 1894 and was made by John Grinsell& Sons. The body of the jug is round. With a starburst design cut into the underside. The handle, collar, spout and lid are sterling silver. The lid has a fabulously engraved overlapping monogram of MSH. This piece is in great condition. The glass has no chips. No cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The silver has no dents, no splits, no monogram removals, and no repairs. This piece is hallmarked on the side of the neck with the lion passant for sterling silver. The leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter T for 1894, and the maker's ... moremark for John Grinsell& Sons. 4 1/2" WHITE MILK GLASSJUG. APPLIED HANDLE. HARD TO FIND There is no maker's mark on this small milk-glass jug which we actually had to dig out at an antique barn site located in Guadalupe County. Texas. It's an old barn, not a barn full of antiques) on rural farm property that we were invited to explore. In addition to this white jug, we found a number of old stoneware jugs, jars& bottles and pottery. Under the circumstances, it is no surprise to find this one in rough condition. Please look at the pictures. It is 4 1/2" tall X 3 1/8" diameter. The base is 2 3/8" across. The rim is 1 1/8" across and the opening is 5/8" It has an applied handle that has two small shallow chips. There is a significant chip and a crack at the rim and a hairline that begins at the neck and extends around& down. There ... moreare some stains on the surface and signs of wear. But it still holds a beautiful smooth shine. Please look at the pictures. While trying to gather information about this type of jug. I was only able to find two similar, posted recently, to compare it to. This jug may have been used to store spirits, oil or vinegar.
