There is also the green and browns incorporated into the design. There is a ribbon painted around the neck of the bottle/ jug. The upper rim of the bottle/ jug appears to have been painted red, but a lot of that paint has flaked off. No cracks, beautiful handle and neck, heavy and sturdy. There is one tiny mark on the top. Which is not sharp so it may be a chip or it may have been there since it's creation. It has some light scuff marks on the bottom, but that is to be expected. There is some shadowing on the inside which may be cleaned; little specks of something here and there but nothing major. I have not been able to figure out exactly what this is. Jar. Jug, pitcher? I just know it is quite unusual. In all my prevalent antiquing I have not seen another like this. Perhaps the spout is to prevent ice from going into a cup? It has very thick glass and a spout that looks sawed off but was definitely made to be that way. I t is heavy for its size: 5.75 inches tall. 3 inches wide on bottom. And 5.5 inches wide between spout and handle. I've given the exposed areas of the bottle a very delicate"once over" clean to remove a lot of loose dirt. The result is pretty darn clear considering the age of this piece. I only gave the interior bottle a good rinsing because the weave is so delicate I didn't want to disturb it any more than I had to. The bottom weave is LONG gone. I actually like the ones like this even with the breaks because it makes it a more interesting visual piece. The interior bottle is clear in color and PERFECTLY intact. It Displays Beautifully! THESE are the old glass demijohn jugs they used to wrap in wicker for wine. We have a supplier who imported many of these old jugs from Italy(with and without the wicker) several years ago. We've picked through them through the years and sold them here in our ebay store. But when we went on our last buying run we discovered that his inventory is almost exhausted. So we bought ALL of the remaining jugs(those with and without wicker) regardless of condition because we know it's doubtful he'll be able to source more in the future. Designers love to use these to make arrangements ... morewith. You can see them in many of the designer magazines that are out AND they turn up regularly on many of the cable design shows. Many also like to mix and match these by using different sizes and/or mixing them with the wicker wrapped ones. You CAN buy reproductions for a LOT LESS money. But if you're like me you just prefer to own the REAL thing. They just have more history, character, markings and Weight. You'll notice a LOT of designers are starting to display these partially filled with old wine corks. It gives it a Fun and Festive look! I've filled this one partially for you! And yes.the corks you SEE are included The truly OLD HAND Blown ones like this are NOT going to be in PERFECT condition. I only cleaned this ONCE and you'll want to follow up with a good soaking as well. But the glass is nice and mostly clear and I LOVE.LOVE. LOVE the swirls in the glass and the droopy top! Nice medium size with an oval body, slightly bulbous, with wide shoulder, elongated neck and wide, thick rim or lip. Early dark green glass that practically glows in sunlight! The bottle is wrapped in a an old, hand braided and tied rope holder.very attractive! Probably European in origin. I would estimate that this piece is ca. 1900. It has rough side seams. The piece is in good overall condition with only one flaw.a very small chip on the lip/rim. HUGE 20" HAND MADE BLOWN BROWN STUDIO ART GLASS JUG JAR UMBRELLA BOTTLE VASE NR Up for your consideration is this absolutely incredible hand-blown art glass vase. It is a humongous 19-inches tall! This could be used as an umbrella stand or to hold dried flowers such as elephant grass. Please be sure to see the other art glass we have listed. FEATURES: Completely hand-blown with molded curved handle. It has a wide mouth opening of 3-1/2" When the piece was blown. The neck and shoulders are made of thicker glass with a deeper brown color. As the walls were blown, the glass was drawn much thinner and has a yellowish hue. It thickens up on the bottom and is a dark brown almost opaque color. There is a pontile mark on the bottom and a turned up molded"tail" on the handle. There are even a few bonus bubbles in the glass in various ... moreplaces. ADD. You are unable to see through it. As it curves around the shoulder, it lightens in color becoming a brownish-yellow hue. The color pales as the glass thickness gets thinner. Here is a very unique large twisted patternblue glass bottle that stands approx 22 inches tall. I dont know anything about the bottle except that it is weathered(as seen in the pictures) My description of the bottle is: A pattern blown glass bottle with an applied cap. There are no chips or cracks. But there are sheen marks in the glass and other marks as seen in the picures. Very heavy. Sea Currents and Vintage Description*RARE* LARGE RUSTIC ANTIQUE FREE-BLOWN DARK AMETHYST/PURPLE DEMIJOHN WITH CRUDELY ROLLED RIM/LIP This is a must have piece for a demijohn or glass bottle collector! This primitive demijohn is very rustic. Free blown in an ovoid shape, with a long neck, and an inverted bottom with a large rough and sharp pontil scar. The mouth was handcrafted to a rolled out and folded lip/rim and crudely finished; uneven, waves, dimpled, etc. The rolled rim method was most commonly used in the 1870's and earlier. The bottle has a ton of character and a rustic/crude shaped body; some wavy cooling marks. Straw marks, one side is slightly concaved, HEAVILY loaded with bubbles from small to large, many of the large bubbles have inclusions(primarily white and bumpy- likely flux/soda) Even though the demijohn is rustic, the ... moreglass is clear and without stains or fogging. Estimated to have been made in the 1860's to 1880's. It's a very rare and unique demijohn! Don't miss out on this one! It has a metal handle for carrying or hanging. This is very heavy and makes a beautiful rustic vase which would be lovely hanging in your trees this summer or on your table. Also handsome storage for your large paint brushes or other craft supplies. 5 1\2 inches wide x 11 inches high.
