Was a collector, former museum curator and lecturer on Asian art at the University of British Columbia, Canada. She also played an important role in creating the Canadian Society for Asian Arts which got its start in Vancouver in 1968. Over her lifetime, she collected a fabulous collection of Chinese antiques, mostly snuff bottles, and porcelain. Most of her pieces were collected between the 1940's- 70's in England and North America. We were lucky enough to purchase some of the nicer pieces which we are offering on ebay. WMF Amber Cut to Clear Wine or Lemonade Pitcher Glass Insert Egermann Style
This auction is for a beautiful wine pitcher or lemonade pitcher in an amber cut to clear with nice engraving in a grape or vintage pattern. The style is similar to Egermann but this piece is probably from WMF or Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik. We believe there is a partial mark of the simple WMF in a small rectangle. We have tried to get a picture but it is not helpful. The pitcher is wonderful measuring 11 3/4 inches tall and weighing more than 7 pounds. The glass insert is in great condition with the original bail for lifting it from the pitcher. We are not sure what is the metal content of the silver top and handle. It would appear to be a type of silverplate. The WMF made an especially fine plated metal but we cannot be sure if this is WMF. There is light wear and tarnish to the silver metal. Hand Blown Amber Glass Victorian Jug Twist Rib Body + Air Bubbles Applied Feet
An interesting antique Victorian hand blown amber glass jug. With multiple design details and a large pontil evident on base. Not marked, probably made in a cottage type English glass refinery. Body is formed with a heavy translucent amber glass with trapped air bubbles and a ribbed textured round base which becomes more pronounced on the thin straight neck. The handle is hand applied and curled. The six leaf shaped feet are also hand applied and have been pressed at the tip with a criss-cross motif. Measures 8.5 inches high. Condition is excellent. There is some slight mineral residue which remains after a gentle cleaning. No damage, breaks or losses. Interesting piece of antique glass which was decorated in the style of the mid to late 19th century Victorian era.
