Vintage Brown Glass Large Jug Bottle 13.5" Height GREAT Handle 3 lbs. 1 Gallon One large brown glass jug in almost excellent condition. It's beautiful and sturdy. No cracks, beautiful handle and neck, heavy and sturdy. There is one tiny mark on the top. Which is not sharp so it may be a chip or it may have been there since it's creation. It has some light scuff marks on the bottom, but that is to be expected. There is some shadowing on the inside which may be cleaned; little specks of something here and there but nothing major. It holds a bit more than one gallon and has many uses. Height is 13.5" Weight is 3.3 pounds, base is 5 3/4" We are good packagers! Thank you. This is a brown glass half gallon jug painted in a folk art style with an image of a dancing couple in what looks like Eastern European costume. The bottle has a wood& cork stopper. 1930s to 1950s One Gallon Brown Glass Hi-Lex Bleach Bottle as shown in pictures above and as described below. Exact age is unknown but I think this bottle or jug is from the 1930s or 1950s. Any information is appreciated. Bottle/Jug stands 12-1/2" tall. Is about 6-1/2" in diameter and weighs three pounds. Has the unique(two finger) handle on neck which has Hi-lex in raised letters on both sides. Bottle/Jug is marked Gallon To Line Hi-Lex in two places. Is marked 7- 9- 49 and some type of logo on the bottom Excellent Condition with Original Metal Lid which has some wear/age. Bottle is Near Mint but the inside is dirty. FEATURES: Completely hand-blown with molded curved handle. It has a wide mouth opening of 3-1/2" When the piece was blown. The neck and shoulders are made of thicker glass with a deeper brown color. As the walls were blown, the glass was drawn much thinner and has a yellowish hue. It thickens up on the bottom and is a dark brown almost opaque color. Antique Vintage Iridescent Brown Glass Jar Jug Vase Art Deco Style
You are bidding on a unique vintage glass jar/jug/vase container. I bought it at an estate sale and could not determine much information about this item from my research(I could not find a marker's mark) It looks art deco to me and I would guess there was originally a cap to this as you look at the lip along the top. I have not cleaned it. It is a heavy piece. Weights about 3.5 pounds, is 10' tall, 6.75' wide, and the neck is 2 7/8' wide. There are seam marks and as you view the jug from the side you see it caves in on one side more than the other. I can only assume this happened during manufacturing, not sure if it is considered a flaw or not. It is in very nice pre-owned vintage condition, no chips, cracks, or repairs. There are some scratches in the applied brown iridescent finish where the clear glass shows through. They ... moreare minimal and random. The bottom has a diamond shaped base but the neck is square.
