This could be used as an umbrella stand or to hold dried flowers such as elephant grass. Please be sure to see the other art glass we have listed. FEATURES: Completely hand-blown with molded curved handle. It has a wide mouth opening of 3-1/2" When the piece was blown. The neck and shoulders are made of thicker glass with a deeper brown color. As the walls were blown, the glass was drawn much thinner and has a yellowish hue. It thickens up on the bottom and is a dark brown almost opaque color. There is a pontile mark on the bottom and a turned up molded"tail" on the handle. There are even a few bonus bubbles in the glass in various ... moreplaces. ADD. The body of the piece being 9" tall. The base is 2.5" in diameter and the jug has a 4" girth. The silver lid and spout are marked in two areas and bears the Austria Hungary Silver hallmark the Dianakopf or Diana's head which was first used in 1867. Beginning in 1872, a letter was added to this cartouche indicating the city of assay.The cinquefoil cartouche indicates 800 silver and the letter G indicates the city of Graz in Austria. Antique Vintage Iridescent Brown Glass Jar Jug Vase Art Deco Style
You are bidding on a unique vintage glass jar/jug/vase container. I bought it at an estate sale and could not determine much information about this item from my research(I could not find a marker's mark) It looks art deco to me and I would guess there was originally a cap to this as you look at the lip along the top. I have not cleaned it. It is a heavy piece. Weights about 3.5 pounds, is 10' tall, 6.75' wide, and the neck is 2 7/8' wide. There are seam marks and as you view the jug from the side you see it caves in on one side more than the other. I can only assume this happened during manufacturing, not sure if it is considered a flaw or not. It is in very nice pre-owned vintage condition, no chips, cracks, or repairs.
