She resisted being ... morecalled a furniture designer and self-deprecatingly described her furniture designs as“architectural fill-ins” for the gaps around the designs of other designers in the Knoll catalog like Harry Bertoia. Eero Saarinen, Mies Van Der Rohe, Isamu Noguchi etc. Yet the designs themselves have proven her wrong. Beyond the overall form and her leather pull handles. Which are a very well thought out softening of the“touch-points” of the design, this model credenza is quite variable. It was available with a wood, linoleum, or marble top. The legs were either chrome steel, black steel, wooded legs, or even no legs as a floating wall mount. The doors were wood, or white lacquer. The only standard internal components were the pair of shelves, and beyond that they could be specified with a bay of drawers, a file drawer bay, or a bay with pull-out electronics tray for a Dictaphone(the electronic voice recorded of the day, which recorded 15 minutes of speech onto a single use vinyl belt) This particular specimen has a very well balanced mixture of the variables. With a beautiful walnut case and walnut bypass doors, chrome steel legs, and all three optional bays(stack of drawers, hanging file drawer, and electronics tray) The interior is all oak. The drawers in the stack are all solid oak fronts and sides, with dovetail construction. They also have built in drawer stops, so you can’t accidentally pull the drawer all the way out and drop it. The hanging file drawer has metal slides to bear the extra weight. The pull-out electronics tray also has metal slides and the bay has a hole for cords. All the extra space in the bays has holes for the shelf hanger clips, so the pair of shelves can be re-arranged to match your needs. An impressive Jacobean style Buffet made of solid Oak with Burl Walnut trim. Circa 1940. We are pleased to present this vintage Buffet for your consideration. Dating to circa 1940. This American piece is constructed of solid Oak with gorgeous Burl Walnut decorative veneers. It has an English Jacobean look with a Spanish Revival or Moorish flair, and is sure to attract attention and garner compliments. Hardware is original, with vintage KBC(Keeler Brass Company) drawer pulls on the large drawer. And two lower compartment doors. The Buffet measures 37-1/2 inches high to the counter surface(39-1/2 inches to the top of the piece at the back) 72-1/4 inches wide, and 22-1/2 inches deep. Two side compartments are complimented by a large center drawer, with three regular depth drawers at the top which are perfect for flatware or similar items. Some numbers on the back-No. 500 and Cutt 851 probably model and style numbers. Very good condition with some minor spots on the top and also a small piece of trim missing. It would be worth the effort to find this and replace as replacing it would be quite easy. This buffet measures 49 inches wide by 35 inches tall. And is 19 inches deep. D.R. Dimes American Federal Style Sideboard Blue Painted Surface. 2043 Item# 130008RYP12 Typical of all work by the D.R. Dimes workshop. This piece is an exceptional reproduction of an American Federal New England Sideboard. As is the case with all of their pieces, the case is true to the period, every aspect of the piece hand crafted and cut. The plain rectangular top is hand scraped, the light ridges of the plane still evident beneath the chalky blue painted surface, this projecting lightly over the facade of two doors flanking stacked drawers. The drawers and doors have tiny wooden knobs, the drawers hand dovetailed front and back with a deeply chamfered bottom that slides into rabbets along the sides, this secured with nails along the back edge. The apron of the sideboard is simply fantastic, the sharp scroll cut form flowing in perfect ... moresymmetry and adding movement to an overall austere form. Tiny round pegs are visible beneath the paint, joining each part of the tenon-mortised structure permanently in a manner true to the period. The back board is branded"D.R. American Federal Style Mahogany Serpentine Sideboard Benchmade. Late 20th Century Item# 130109JTG24 This is a fine reproduction American Federal Mahogany Inlaid Sideboard. Benchmade probably during the last quarter of the 20th Century. The beautiful ribbed mahogany veneers across the facade give an exceptional flow to the surface, these veneers clearly of a quality superior to most 20th Century reproductions. Each drawer and door is framed with cockbead molding, all four corner spandrels an inlaid fan. The three drawers on the top and the pair of wine drawers on the lower half are hand dovetailed. Resting over four tapered legs, these are inlaid with bellflowers and a single band around the ankles. Preserved in simply gorgeous condition. However there is 1 Large Scratch and a few smaller in the Top. They are not Big Blemishes and you don't really see them unless you are standing right over it looking. I would rate the Cabinet a 7 out of 10. if the scratches were fixed it would be a 8 1/2 out of 10. Really a Pretty Piece. Vintage Wooden Sideboard In Need of TLC
For sale is an older wooden sideboard in need of some TLC. The sideboard measures 65 3/4 inches long. 21 inches from front to back, and 36 3/4 inches high. The sideboard has two doors one on each end. And two drawers in the center. The top drawer is divided, the bottom drawer is not. There are six legs- all Federal style. TLC needed to refinish. There are knicks in the wood along the edges of the top. The top needs to be completely redone. There are some raised issues in the wood on the left top side. The right door needs repair. The wood is laminated there and has damage. The left door is fine but needs refinishing. The two drawers have chips along edges and also need to be redone. For sale is a very desirable Salterini Tea Cart in the Mt. Vernon pattern. Its zinc dipped neva rust. There are remnants of brown paint. The glass is in decent shape with a few scratches and the lower piece has a chip on the corner. One of the larger wheels rolls funny but is sturdy and there are new bolts on the front wheels. Also the rubber on the front wheels has worn flat in spots. There is one loose spoke on the back wheels but its hard to notice. Good looking cart with normal wear. Vintage Henkel Harris Solid Mahogany Serpentine Sideboard Buffet Server Virginia Galleries- Winchester. VA Style No. 2367 Circa 1978 This sideboard is of the finest quality. Crafted by a firm renowned for its attention to detail and careful craftsmanship, and it is being offered at a fraction of retail cost. Designed in every detail after the Federal Period. This Hepplewhite sideboard has flaming mahogany veneers across the facade of the drawers and doors, absolutely glowing when caught in the right light. Each of these, framed in satinwood inlay, and the doors and drawers are finished in cockbead molding, beneath which the drawers are dovetailed and have the original keys. The brasses on each drawer are replicas of original American brasses. Noting the 13 stars which would normally date the design to 1790-91. The top drawer opens to reveal ... morean area for fine silverware, with soft cloth for protecting the silver from tarnish printed with the Henkel Harris insignia.
