Fredrik Kayser has designed furniture for several of Norway's most famous furniture manufacturer. Bright, functional, modern and light are all characteristics for his furniture, but they are also classic and the handcraft shows clear ideals within the Danish furniture design. Kayser was employed at Rastad Relling in Oslo from 1952 to 1956. Later he established his own business and mainly focused on furniture design, some of his models becoming design classics. Comprised of rosewood and rosewood veneer over real wood(no mdf) The piece features two sliding doors that open to reveal a divided interior storage space with a single adjustable height shelf on the right side and three height adjustable slide out drawers on the left. This is one of the later examples(late 1960s) with the drawers being in white plastic(all original and one flocked along its interior bottom) The shelf and drawers have 7 height adjustments(2 3/8" increments) or can be removed all together, so you have many size options for your ... morestorage. Cool circular teak pull handles are integrated into the doors themselves and the credenza is finished off with solid turned legs. But very much in the style of Florence Knoll or George Nelson. This piece is constructed in a most unusual way: the core of the piece is a steel skeleton, which is exposed on the finished piece. Walnut panels are screwed onto the skeleton to form the top and sides of the piece. The cabinet has been completely refinished. The walnut pieces were all stripped. Sanded and finished with lacquer; the steel frame and aluminum handles were both stripped, polished and clear-coated. The piece is in excellent restored condition. Dimensions: 54"W x 17"D x 29.5"T. These FM pieces were designed to integrate with Kai Kristiansen's FM wall system. So even though this stands on the floor, brackets could be added allowing it fit into the wall upright standards of a system. A piece looking like this would normally be found in a much much larger scale credenza(think miniature horse to it's full size twin) This baby is suitable for just about any room in your home and is perfect for those that want all the beauty and function of a full scale sideboard but do not have the space. Note the pics with the Saarinen Side table to really gain a better perspective on it's size. It will be great in a dining room or living room for a flat ... morepanel TV or as a compact serving buffet or bar. In the middle are 3 pull out drawers with very pretty sculptural integrated pulls and felt lined interior bottoms. The piece is well made of both solid teak and teak veneers. The teak wood is very rich and stunning throughout. Its a beautiful piece! measurements Overall 59 3/4” wide by 16” deep by 25 1/8” high.
