Offered for sale is a Stunning Baker Furniture Hepplewhite Inlaid Mahogany Demilune Sideboard/Server/Buffet. This bowfront sideboard features two deep drawers and four curved doors with storage cabinets. All with beautiful brass carved pulls. The top drawer has the Baker nameplate and a green silverware liner and the drawer below is a tambour-style with an arched surround. The mahogany features a gorgeous inlaid cross-banded border with inlaid stringing all supported on six tapered legs with spade feet. The sideboard measures 66" wide x 37" high x 27.5" deep. I believe this sideboard is 20-25 years old but I am not sure of the exact age. It may be older. Overall it is in excellent condition with the following exceptions: there are a few light scuffs/scratches on the top(see pic#11) and the back left leg has a hairline crack ... morethat extends from the foot upwards approximately 3-4 inches(see pic#12) This crack does not appear to affect the sturdiness of the piece. I have discounted the price to reflect this issue. Overall, as is the case with all Baker mahogany furniture, this sideboard is a stunning piece of furniture that is a beauty to behold. The three sections feature fretwork glass doors. Broken pediment top, and gadrooned edge trim. The original is on display at the Mills House in Charleston. 70" wide, 19.5" deep, and 91" tall. Nine glass shelves in the top section which allow for display or books. There are three lights on a dimmer switch in the top section. The bottom credenza section has one shelf on each side and the center section contains a silverware drawer. This impressive piece moves in two sections: the top separates from the bottom. Exquisite detail and uncompromising form in a Credenza Sideboard assumed produced April 1959. We had an experienced wood worker look at this and he was fairly certain it was Mahogany. We have no firm attribution on this but have noted that Charak made sideboards using identical components that are featured on this. And even similar use of break fronts with lines for Tommi Parzinger. Drexel& Baker made styles like this. We have failed to ID it. The lengths that the maker went to on this sideboard is quite indicative of the best of the era and we have been unable to ascertain the maker. Piano hinges for the middle swing doors. Brass rods to prevent the doors from over-swing. Smoothest movement of the ... moremiddle drawer. Solid shelving and flawless drawer movement. Boasts 8 drawers and a large central area with sliding hidden drawer with extreme construction designed to take very large amounts of weight. All produced from solid wood. Note the use of banded wood on the top that travels around the breakfront. Based on the brass/bronze pulls used we are fairly certain this is the work of either Charak Modern or Baker Furniture however Dunbar and Johnsons furniture both produced similar sideboards with handle pulls that very closely resemble this one. 100% vintage condition with the mildest signs of use. This is a very nice inlaid mahogany tea cart or server made by the Baker Furniture Co. It measures aprox. 21" x 32" x 29" high with the leaves down. 42" when opened up. It has a glass top serving tray that pulls out as well as a storage drawer on one end and handle for moving the cart. Overall it is in great condition, there are a couple of small scratches on the leaves, otherwise it is nice and clean. It is available for pickup or can be delivered by Fed Ex ground for 159.00 to the lower 48 states including insurance. The wheels would be removed and would be packaged in a custom made box. The table top finish is in very good condition. There is damage to 2 of the pedestal legs where a family pet had gnawed at some of the wood and finish but it can be disguised with polish. There are a few small losses of veneer on table edge. The table measures approximately 44 inches wide X 68 inches long X 29 inches high without the leaves. There are 3 leaves of approximately 17.5 inches wide which can extend the table to 10 feet. Felt pads to cover the surface are also included as well as a wooden crate that holds the leaves securely stored. Slight bow front form with upper pull out brushing-slide shelf over 3 rosewood banded drawers. Brass hardware. No keys. Inside Baker Furniture mounted tag. Some signs of age and use with some minor scratches and slight wear to finish. Top has some scratches. There are a couple of splits to the veneer edge detail on the top. There are a couple of isolated dings to the drawer fronts. The top drawer has a small crack to the veneer. The bottom drawer has a couple deeper scratches. Vintage Baker furniture mahogany dining room table 3 leaves = 10 feet
This is a vintage mahogany Baker dining or conference table with 2 pedestals each with 4 brass feet with wheels. Baker is a well known high-end quality furniture maker. There is some damage to the wood finish on 2 of the legs of one of the pedestals and a few minor areas of loss of veneer on edge of leaves. The table measures 44 inches wide. 68 inches long and 29 inches high without the leaves. The 3 leaves each measure approximately 17.5 inches wide and extend the table to 10 feet. Felt pads to cover table surface are included as well as a crate to hold the leaves. The chair in pictures is not included in the auction.
