Antique Solid Wood Staircase Newel Post Column Architectural Salvage This antique staircase column came from a public building in PA. It is in solid condition. Has some weight to it(20 lbs) and is 45' high with the square sections measuring 4 3/4' across. The post stands by itself and is level. The floor in my butler's pantry of our 100+ year old house is way off, not the column. There are a couple of places where there is a crack although solid and nothing moving. There is a'slice' out of the top ball as shown. All of these flaws are fixable if desired. The measurements are: 15" wide, 15" deep by 12.5" in height. When viewing the photos. You can see part of the original wood column still inside the capital. I removed part of the wooden piece, you can see the rim of the capital. All of the wood can be removed so the capital could be placed on a new column. I did not remove the old pieces of the column as I displayed it in it's original form. The original wood column is seen in the center of the capital and the bottom ... more1" rim piece. If this is removed, you will have just the capital which is not made of wood. I'm not certain what they made these capitals out of, but the material is very heavy. These are very old. I believe they must be post caps. But thats my guess. I bought them around 25 years ago and never did get my dream done. These must be made out of steel as a magnet will stick to them. As you can see, they are identical, except one of the tops does not have quite the point the other has. The outside measurement is- 7 3/8" and the inside where it would slide over a post is- 6 5/8" They stand 7 1/2" tall and weigh 30#s total. Nice antique turned and carved fluted wood columns with ball finials. They retain their original flakey creamy white paint. The base of one is missing some detail pieces and the bottom base piece is cracked. would be great for a art or craft project. Overall good solid condition. This old relic measures 44-1/4" tall. Needs some tlc. a few cracks here and there) Bottom of post appears to have been cut away.Maybe to accommodate a stair tread or something.Wood appears to be pine. Thanks for looking.

Complete Stair Newel Posts + Railing Set. From 1890 House. Timeless, Traditional
This is a complete stair railing set from an 1890 house in Denver. CO. You get three full 6x6 major newel posts, one half one that goes on a wall, and two lesser Newell posts with matching caps. You also get the big thick handrail with sections that measure: 72, 62, 47, 30, and 32 inches. As well as two curved sections. Then you get about 64 1x1 square balusters that range in height from 25, 32, 35, and 41 inches. Finally you get lots of detail pieces like bottom caps, cove, and nosing. This is the the complete railing system of a staircase that had two landings and rises about 10' with about 14 steps. The material is beautiful tight grain fir or pine and it has been painted several times. The newel posts are a very clean simple design of a combination of fluting and recessed panels. Some Victorian style got a little gaudy but this set ... moreis in a style that is still used on high end homes today. Very simple and tailored with square posts and balusters. It will fit in with any style home and especially traditional with historic elements. Newel posts: 39" from top to last molding piece and start of lower box section. Balusters: 25. 32, 35, 41 inches. Railings: 72. 62, 47, 30, 32 inches. This will ship in two boxes. eBay would not calculate two ups boxes so I am just doing a flat rate.

26 columns 74" tall salvaged from hotel
All 26 columns for $1200 OBO! We salvaged 26 full round columns that are 74 inches tall and that includes the base and capitals. the columns are approximately 10" in diameter at their base and taper to approximately 9" at the top. The bases and capitals are made of fiberglass reinforced with wood the columns appear to be made from fir possibly redwood. The bases and capitals are connected on some columns and disconnected on many others. They need to be put back together on some of them.
