Guerin Limoges design studio decorated match stick holder cobalt blue and white
I have for you this evening a rather unique item that I believe is an ink well that is missing its well and cover. This item was made and decorated at the porcelain factories and studios of Guerin Limoges in France towards the end of the 19th century. This lovely and substantial piece is made of very fine grade very heavy porcelain and is cast into an unusual shape with ribbed center portion. This piece is white and painted in a cobalt blue. This could easily be used as candle holder and I suspect that it has been. This would make a unique addition to your collection and would look great sitting on an antique period desk with a large pillar style handle sticking out of it. Item dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. This piece stands 2.5" tall and dates from the late 19th century by the marks. This is a great looking pair of French candlesticks. There is a blue porcelain bird attached to the center mount and porcelain flowers lead up a leafed vine up to the candleholder. We believe they are from the late part of the 19th or early part of the 20th century. The base of some of the flowers have some chips. The gold beaded ring around the base of one of the birds is crooked and covers a small chip. The flowers are also dirty. They measure approximately 7" tall. They are marked on the bottom France. Other than the one angel being repaired this set is in very good condition for the age especially. I really thought it was a unique sweet set. And know it is very old. Please enlarge to see the sweet faces and detailing of this set. There are no other chips, cracks, or breaks. Just the fine crackly lines of age I mentioned in the condition part. As well as some staining in the inside bottom of the planter. The candlesticks are 6" by 3 1/2" The planter is 9 1/2" b 4 1/2" by 4" I do not see a maker on the bottom of any of these pieces. I bought these at an estate sale of a couple downsizing to go to a retirement center. I have several other things listed from them as well. I have a good variety of items from antique to new. These are just lovely. And are in remarkable condition. They stand approximately 8" tall, with the base about 5" wide. The were made in Hanley, England by the Dudson Brothers which the impressed mark on the bottom of both say Dudson Brothers Hanley, England so should date back to 1898 to 1903. These pieces are quite the treasure as they are near impossible to find in the solid color and in such great shape for being over 100 years old. They are beautifully decorated with three Grecian figures separated by white columns. One candlestick has a tiny stress crack on the very top as seen in pic but quite meaningless and another small flake on the bottom rim. Please email me with any further questions you may have. Welcome to my ebay store! I have here another of a large collection of porcelain from an English estate sale. This is a small 7" tall very pretty candle stick/candle holder. I am unable to identify maker or year. There is simply a red mark on underside of xxl See photos. Still a really nice little vintage piece! Blue glaze on white with gold lustre accents. This candlestick has scrolling detail, is footed and shaped somewhat like a tulip flower. The highlight is the very nicely painted face of the 18/19th century dressed boy figure leaning casually against the tall flower form. His face looks like German china painted faces so I am guessing this may be a German porcelain item. There is some loss of color but no crazing on the finish. The owner had a very large figurine collection of many styles. This piece has me stymied as to identity! ... moreThe candle holder is shaped like a tulip flower. The candlesticks have a pink lustre finish on the sides, with gold trim; the base has gold scrolls. Each candlestick features a black transfer image of a building in Birmingham. One of the buildings is the Council House, built in 1879 and the other is the Victoria Law Courts, built in 1891. There is no maker's mark for the pieces, but are most likely German in origin. Old World Meissen Style Figural Candlesticks
A pair of very attractive candlesticks done in the Dresden style. Each is 9" tall with a 3" x 3.25" base. A lovely peasant couple frolicking in the forest. Very colorful. They are not marked but are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. A special pair to bring attention to any setting.
